it’s not easy getting her to become a professor, however. after all that she and her family have endured, lysithea is more inclined to lead a peaceful life away from anything remotely related to politics and warfare  ---  and she does, for a couple of years. until her parents pass, until she realises that death is no longer nipping at her heels and she has time, a future. she starts feeling restless, like she’s wasting her second chance at life by not doing anything fruitful with it, essentially wasting her knowledge and skills away. for as long as she can remember she’s been hustling, for progress for knowledge for her goal of peace for her parents, and now that she’s achieved it she has no true aim and it makes her listless, lost. for those reasons she eventually decides becoming an educator isn’t a bad idea.

//     sometimes i think about how lysithea was a whole two years old when the empire came into her home and started murdering relatives and experimenting on her cousins and siblings over the years and eventually killed them off right before her young young eyes   —   and how she’s now spending every second hustling to make sure her parents can taste a bit of peace in their remaining years even though they’re going to outlive her. what about her?? what about her peace and lost childhood???
