Movies/Series I Am Excited (and a bit scared) About In 2026:
All Creatures Great and Small - They've just done a massive time jump. Good idea? We shall see...
Pendragon - All the clips so far look promising!! But what is up with all the hateful comments online? Who doesn't want an adaptation of these amazing books?! Crazy.
The Count of Monte Cristo - Pleeeease, I beg you, get the ending right this time!
The Odyssey - Get Helen and Menelaos right or else...!
Dune Messiah - Get Duncalia Atreidaho right. Get the Visions right. Theat's all I ask. You can do it.
Oh my word. The bull dancers are just casually wandering NYC and people are so confused. XD Gotta love it.

Emma: Harriet, now that we're friends, I've decided to make you my new project. Harriet: You really don't have to do that... Emma: I know! That's what makes me so nice!
Unpopular opinion: "Abortions are a lifesaving medical procedure" = "We don't know anything about the female body and we refuse to learn, so we sold women this procedure that kills their young and we packaged it all pretty to convince women that it's empowering. But don't point that out or think for yourself about it."

one of the most baffling things of the pro prostitution movement is their favorite mantra, “sex work is work.” that’s so funny. what do you expect me to say, “no it isn’t?” because i don’t care. makes not a lick of difference to me. you know what else is work? child labor, sweatshop labor, prison labor, slave labor, sharecropping, indentured servitude. all work. do you know why reasonable people are against those things? it’s not because they aren’t work. it’s because the inherently exploitative and potentially injurious conditions of the jobs make them morally unjustifiable. “sex work is work,” so what? what’s your point?
Can artists STOP dressing up like religious figures just to be provocative? They are disrespecting all christians and yes, I am referring to Chappell Roan singing dressed up as a nun or Joan of Arc.
Stop it. Nuns and Joan d'Arc aren't your LGBT+ icons. They are religious women the first and a beloved saint the second.
"I would have helped Anne Frank" shut up you asked me how to report your neighbors to the cops for having more than four people in their backyard in May 2020
So, who told Henry of Navarre/Henri IV's story better? Dumas or Mann? Time will tell...
Finally getting to watch The Three Musketeers 2023 (Part I: D'Artagnan). Enjoyable enough, but not the faithful adaptation I was hoping for. My main beefs so far:
-What's with the costumes? Why are the hats like...that? WHY IS THERE NO COLOR??????
-What's with this random Murder Mystery/Save Athos plot? There's PLENTY OF OTHER THINGS that need to fit into this film, why are we adding random extra time-wasters???
-Speaking of Athos, why is he already Old? Don't you guys know he still needs to father a son AND still be present with that son Twenty Years from now???? Maybe he's only forty and Life has just aged him too quickly... But everyone keeps talking about his having One Foot in the Grave!
But, overall I like the casting all right. Louis is believable enough. Aramis is a bit meh. PORTHOS IS NOT NEARLY GIGANTIC ENOUGH. WHERE ARE THE ARMS AS BIG AS A NORMAL MAN'S THIGHS???
...This is why I can't watch TTM adaptations. XD
Well, I still don't like the random unnecessary plot (and character!) add-ons, and the costumes are SO BORING. But a cool film overall. I didn't absolutely hate it, I guess. I'll watch Part II.
"Blue cassock? What's that? Nah, they'll all be Plainclothes and all their clothes will happen to be Grey And Brown!!!!" Like, go ahead and make D'Artagnan look plainer at first since he's a poor Gascon, but most of these other Dudes are Rich and Proud of It!
Watching Part II...
And actually quite enjoying it.
They did bring in Athos's son! But... his name is... Joseph????
Athos has one (possibly two) sons, and neither is called Joseph!
Maybe this is Mordaunt, and after he finds out what Athos did to his mother he disowns Athos and pretends to be DeWinter's son instead?? So then he's like, Hmm, I need a Very ENGLISH Name. I've got it... John Francis!!! But my Evil Nickname shall be... Mordaunt!
End result: Well, that was interesting. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Not the Book Accurate Adaptation I was hoping we'd finally get. Still waiting...
Meanwhile, finally getting around to watching the 1948 film with Gene Kelly as D'Artagnan. And... I think a few years ago I would have mocked this film so much, but... Actually I think this one actually captures the mood of the book perfectly??? Some adaptations take themselves WAY too seriously.
Guys, this is not a Serious Book. Dumas has written Serious Books. This isn't one of them. The movies should be funnnnaaaaaayyyyyy.
Also charming. And with Colorful Costumes.
This one's got it.

"I used the letters of the alphabet and grammatically incorrect French to calculate that Napoleon is the devil" sounds like some unfunny 2010 internet meme but it's actually from the 1869 novel War and Peace

"One need only admit the premise that public peace of mind is in danger and any action finds justification." 150 years later this hasnt changed at all
"A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill - he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it."
-Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
