Since you had woken up and looked at the todayâs date, you couldnât contain your excitement. Christmas is in getting closer, being only few days away. You were so happy to be able to celebrate it with your new friends that you made while being here, in this strange and magical world.
You immediately had to talk to someone about it. And the victim to fall to your ramblings was Grim, who was the closest one to you. You turned to his sleeping form and started gently shacking him awake. He only grumbled something unintelligent at that. Your fail didnât discourage you, you lived with Grim long enough to know how to handle him and him being reluctant to wake up. You sighed and got closer to him.
âGrim⌠Ace is eating your foodâŚâ you whispered into his ears.
He bolted awake right away, like he would if a lightning bolt had stroked him. He was about to start a fight with a non-existing Ace, but his determination died out as soon as he saw your grinning face. He then made a cutely angry face, that made you want to pinch his cheeks. âWhy do I have to wake up so early?! Itâs weekend so we donât have school!â he yawned. âAnd if Crowley requested something from you, tell him that Iâm feeling sick.â He laid down again and was about to go back to the dreamland, but you werenât going to let him do that.
âGrim, itâs almost Christmas! How can you not be excited?â at that he perked up. âItâs almost what?â he asked. You then realized that from where Grim is Christmas may not be celebrated. You smiled at him and started to explain the whole thing in great details. But the only ones that actually got his attention were you mentioning food and presents.
His round, blue eyes shined brightly. He jumped on his two little back paws to stand up. âNyaahaha! You could have say so earlier! I canât wait to get lots of presents from that Santa man!â he clapped happily. âBut you know⌠Santa Claus only give presents to the people who were good and didnât cause trouble.â You smirked at the troubled look appearing on his face.
âW-well, Santa will definitely understand that the damage that the great Grim had caused was necessary for his powers to grown stronger so that he can become the best wizard in the world and do many good.â He puffed his chest, proud of his explanation.
âIâm sure he knows your great aspirations.â You chuckled, and picked up your phone to check the time. You texted the Adeuce duo to meet you in some place, knowing that both are probably still asleep. âWell, we better get ready, cause we are going to meet up with Ace and Deuce.â You got out of the bed and noticed the grumpy way Grim looked like again. âBut first letâs eat some breakfast, shall we?â you added. The direbeast immediately jumped out of the bed and ran downstairs to the kitchen. At which you only shocked your head and happily followed him.
The sight before you was not an uncommon one. Your two Heartslabyul friends had problems with waking up early on weekend even when it was warm outside. And now that the weather turned cold, the warmth of their beds kept them bounded to the mattress. They were standing before you all tired and still half asleep. They still came relatively early, earlier than you anticipated. You figured that their roommates probably got fed up with their phones buzzling from you spamming them wake up texts.
Ace was the first to speak up. âWhat was so important that you had to wake us up on an hour like that? ON THE WEEKEND?â he made an grumpy face, at which you only chuckled. His companion only sighed, Deuce at least tried to appear not annoyed but it was clear that he wasnât amused by this situation either.
âI needed to talk to you guys about something urgent!â you said excitedly. âI wanted to know more about how you celebrate Christmas, and if itâs the same date here.â
Both boys looked at you confused. âWhat is Christmas?â asked Deuce. You predicted that they would be confused, cause in this world itâs probably called something else. Thatâs how you were excusing the lack of results on the internet, when you were searching for it earlier.
âYou know, decorated trees, family eating dinner together, getting presents and all other thingsâ a slight concern appeared on your face when you saw how both Ace and Deuce didnât seem to know what you are talking about.
After a short moment of thinking Deuce replied. âI donât think that we have anything like that here, at least in the Queendom of Roses.â At which Ace only nodded. âI donât think that there is a holiday like that at all, cause if there was we would at least hear about it, right?â he added.
While they were discussing this whole Christmas thing that you told them about, and trying to connect it to any existing holiday that they know, they didnât notice the saddened and surprised look on your face.
You couldnât believe it. There wasnât any Christmas similar holidays. You were so excited to be able to spend it with your friends this year, and now it turned out that it doesnât exist in this world.
Of course, you were grateful for every moment that you were able to spend with people you call friends here. But for you spending time with them specifically celebrating Christmas was different. You couldnât explain it. It just felt different for you. More meaningful, more heartwarming.
And now there wonât be any of it.
But you shocked your head, not wanting to worry them about something so trivial like this. So you smiled and interrupted their discussion, saying that you all should go to Samâs shop for some shopping. At which they happily agreed. Especially Grim, hoping to get some food for himself.
What you didnât not is that one of your friends noticed how let down you were, but decided to not say anything yet.
On the way to the store, Ace asked you to tell them more about that Christmas thing from your world, and Deuce eagerly agreed. At first you tried to shake them off, not being sure if you wonât start crying from the longing. But after some persuading from them and Grim (who was mainly interested in the gift and good aspects) you agreed and started telling them about everything you rememberd about Christmas.
In the middle of your rambling, when you were talking about ornaments Deuce interrupted you, saying that he once saw decorations similar to the ones you were describing. After hearing that you got very excited and momentarily decided that you want to decorate Ramshackle dorm.
Thatâs why when you entered Samâs shop you told Deuce right away to show you where he had seen these ornaments. Slightly startled by your enthusiasm, but still happy to help, he leaded you to a big box with many colorful things.
You dig in immediately in search for things that could work out as Christmas-y. And to your surprise you werenât disappointed.
There were many sprigs similar to your worldâs mistletoes, some weird shaped glass figures that could pass as Christmas balls if you added a string to them, and lots of other things like that.
Both Ace and Deuce smiled at the sight of your happiness, one more than the other.
You asked Deuce if he could help you get this box into Ramshackle, at which he happily agreed to, and Ace started protesting how he is also able to carry a box this heavy.
But when he actually tried to, he failed greatly, much to your and Deuceâs predictions and Grimâs amusement.
You only sighed and went to pay for this box to Sam, ignoring the red-heads yells at you that he is super strong and that it's the box's fault.
When you had finally got to your dorm, you immediately assigned a place to decorate for each boy, ignoring Ace and Grimâs complains.
You explained to them your vision, and after making sure that they have somehow understood it, you all have split up. Deuce went to decorate kitchen, Ace your room, Grim the hallway and you were decorating the main room.
It has been not long since you started, but your troublemakers had already came back from their assigned positions, claiming that they are already done. Knowing them they did it carelessly and clumsily just to be free from work, but your mood was so good that instead of reprimanding them you just told them to help you, cause now they will have to put some effort in.
Thinking about how you will have to redo or correct their decoration ways, made your thought go to your previous Christmas. Your mother always assigned everyone to do something, but when they did it, she had a problem that they hadnât done it the way she would.
Back then it was really confusing, but now you guessed that you could understand her point.
But thinking about your family made you a little sad. You didnât want to admit it before yourself, but you thought about how they are doing a lot.
Is everything okay back at home? Are they healthy? Do they worry about you? Do they cry about you missing? Or do they even still remember you, that was also a thought that has been appearing quite often in recent times. It was all because of some movie that Ace and Deuce watched with you, where the main characterâs parents had forgotten about them.
It was a really depressing though. In the past you would laugh at it and how absurd it is for them both to have that sudden amnesia.
But now? In the world that shouldnât even exist? Full of magic and weirdness? You werenât so sure. If it was possible for you to be transported into another world, then it could be possible for people in your world to not remember you anymore.
You were too scared to ask anyone if there was a memory earing spell or anything related to that at all.
Your internal turmoil was interrupted by the sound of other boys arguing with each other. You looked down at them from your place on the top of the staircase. They were yelling so loud and yet so quick that you couldnât even fathom what was the reason of their argument. If you had to guess it was probably something stupid.
But before you could even open your mouth to tell them to cut it off, Grim aimed at Ace and breathed fire into his direction. Ace fortunately avoided it, but unfortunately the oirnament that you had carefully put on got set on fire.
It must have been something really flammable cause from one little flame the fire spread through the whole decoration, as it was a chain connected to the others in other rooms.
So before you could even do anything to stop it, it was already too late. Good thing that Deuce had used his magic to create water that helped to get rid of the fire so it wouldnât burn down the whole house.
After that stunt has ended they all had sighed in relief. Deuce then reprimanded them, and they sheepishly apologized to him. Then they all turned to you to cheer you up somehow.
But they all have been stopped by the sight of your head looking at the burnt decorations with blank face.
âH-hey⌠Prefe-â started Ace, who didnât even get a chance to finish.
âGet out.â You said firmly.
âW-what?â he asked confused, thinking that he heard something wrong.
âI SAID GET OUT OF HERE!â You yelled at them with angry tears streaming down your face.
They all jumped at the sound of you rising your voice, and stood in their places from shock, not believing what they have just heard.
âDONâT YOU HEAR WHAT I JUST SAID?! GET OUT OF MY HOME RIGHT NOW!â and only then Ace and Deuce started to back away, slightly scared.
Grim only gulped and started to climb the stairs to get closer to you.
âYOU TOO, YOU STUPID FURRBALL!â you screamed at the top of your loungs at Grim. He jumped in surprise, his urge to argue that it was also his house disappearing immediately after seeing your angry, tear stained face. So he just lowered his head in shame and joined your Heartslabyul friends.
Ace was the only one who looked back as he was closing the door, the last thing he saw was you wiping your face off with the end of your sleeve, your cries still echoing both in your house and his head.
And of course, as always, there had to be a quarrel during every Christmas.
After some time, the door to Ramshackle was finally opened by none other than Ace, who was greeted by darkness. The only source of light was the one coming from the opening of the door he was just about to close.
âYikes, we really did pull up quite a troublesome stunt.â He said to no one. There were bunt marks almost everyone, decorations were scattered all around, most of them being only scraps from what they were before.
He sighed. You were so happy about all this Christmas stuff, and he ruined it all along with Grim.
But now it was too late to do anything about it, so torturing yourself about it was pointless. With that though in mind he headed to your room.
And when he arrived before it, he hesitated for a moment, slightly dreadful that your anger hasnât passed away. He knew that he has to apologize, so he grabbed the handle and slowly opened the room.
He wasnât sure what he was expecting, but it definitely wasnât the sight that welcomed him. Your room was pitch black, the curtains were closed to make sure that not even a slice of light will get inside. He had to squint his eyes to be able to even see outlines of things that were around him.
But the only thing that caught his attention was the outline of a big pile sitting on the bed. He quietly chuckled at that.
He came closer, sitting next to your bundle of blankets you had yourself covered with. He knew that you acknowledged his presence, as he could see a little spot in this blanket mess that moved slightly into his direction.
It was clear that you were waiting for him to say something, probably his reason for coming there. Although he really didnât want to face this confrontation, he knew itâs unavoidable.
âHeyâ he bumped his shoulder into you softly. You ignored him, not like it really surprised him. But that didnât deter him.
âSooo⌠what is up with that blanketed armor of yours?â he thought that he will start this whole thing with lightening up the mood. His attempt was met by another long moment of silence.
âListen I came to say sorry for all this stuff that happened today⌠It wasnât intentional, I swear!â he laid his hand on what he supposed was your shoulder. âTo be honest, the one that should be here apologizing to you is Grim, since he started all of this. I mean yeah, I did kind of start the argument, but he was the one to let his emotions get the best of him and had set everything on fire! Stupid furball⌠Am I right?â he laughed awkwardly.
He was about to continue his ramblings, but then he heard soft noises coming from your covered self.
He came even closer and gently lifted on of the blanket that had been keeping your face from him.
And there you were, sniffing, trying to hide your cries. You locked your eyes with his for a second, but that was enough to see how red they were, presumably from your previous crying sessions.
Now seeing this sight made him realize how long has he been waiting to come back and say anything. You were here, snuggled under all this weight, crying over what happened for this whole time. Alone. In the darkness.
Suddenly he heard you mumble something. âWhat?â
You came out of your blanket bundle and looked him into eyes. The sight of your tear-stained face was finally making him feel rightfully guilty.
âI-Iâm s-sorryâŚâ you said through sniffles. That made Aceâs eyes widen, you hadnât done anything that you should apologize for. Even a jerk like him knew that.
âFor whatâŚ?â he asked quietly, not wanting to scare you away.
âFor letting my emotions take over me, and scream at you unreasonably. This wasnât something that important to get mad over and yet I had hurt you and told you to go away, I hope you can forgive meâŚâ
He looked at you like you were crazy. You? Hurting them? Unreasonable crash out? This was the stupidest thing he ever heard coming from you.
âNo!â he instantly replied, maybe a bit too suddenly, cause that made you flinch a little. He gently grabbed your shoulders and got closer to your face. âYou getting mad at us was totally valid! I mean, we ruined not only something that you had spent your money on, but also something that meant a lot for you. I mean I still donât understand why it was so important, but it doesnât take any of itâs value from you.â He sighed.
âSo I want to give you apologize both from me and Grim. But⌠mostly me.â Your sniffles lessened up to his relief. âAnd hey, if it will make you feel better, you can punch me for it.â You chuckled at that. âI will keep it in mind for the next time you do something stupid.â He smiled. âThen we probably wonât have to wait too long for that.â
Ace tensed when he felt you laying your head on his shoulder. âMaybe⌠you want to talk about why it was so important?â he asked. You looked up slightly at him, as much as you could from your place.
âWell, it is kind of long storyâŚâ you backed away a little from him. But then he took your hand in his and squeezed it.
âWell good thing that I have lots of time.â he smiled at you which you reciprocated. He was sure that Riddle would understand why he would come late to the dorm today.
After your long ramble about not only about Christmas itself, as you already told him and Deuce about it, but more about your family and regret related to not being able to spend this holiday with them this year.
Ace only left after you had finally fallen asleep from exhaustion. He made sure you were comfortable on your bed before leaving.
But as he closing the door to Ramshackle, looking around the lounge one last time, he already knew what he will be doing next.
With that, he finally left, going to his dorm with determination written all over his face.
The next day you were forcefully wakened up by the sound of ghost wailing. You violently sat up, disoriented about everything that was happening around you.
Before you could ask them what it was about they started talking about how you need to leave Ramshackle due to some weird ghost tradition that takes place in this time of the year. When you wanted to argue or question anything they showed you that they have already packed up the things you will need, like clothes, toothbrush etc.
They didnât even let you change into clothes that are more appropriate than your pajamas, already ushering you to leave Ramshackle, saying something about many preparations to make.
You didnât even have time to ask them where are you supposed to go to live now cause they had shut the door before your nose.
To your great surprise â Deuce and Ace, along with Grim, who had been staying with them after the decorations situation, were here, right in front of your house, like they were waiting for you.
When you asked them about it, they laughed weirdly at you and the fact that you donât know about the tradition the ghost told you about. Even Grim apparently knew about it! You looked at them weirdly and said that itâs the first time you heard something like that.
At that Ace threw an arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer to him, saying that you should know about it despite not being from there because of its popularity.
He didnât even give you a chance to reply, as he was already pulling you along to Heartslabyul, telling you how you all are going to have the best sleepovers of your lives, leaving Deuce to carry your things.
The next few days were one of the weirdest ones in your whole life. And thatâs rich coming from someone who literally got isekaiâed into a totally different world.
At the time being you were living in Deuce and Aceâs room along with Grim. Apparently one of their roommates was absent due to some family matters, so you were the one occupying his bed.
What made everything odd was the behavior of your Heartlsabyul friends.
When you wanted to go to the kitchen to grab something to eat, Trey blocked your path and said that he will bring you something before shutting the door in front of you. You got some kind of kitchen block or something.
Almost every time you saw Cater he was with his clones doing some kind of diy things. But when you asked him if you could join, as it looked really fun, he quickly brushed you off and told you to go somewhere do some trivial things or go cause someone was apparently looking for you. It was clear that those were just an excuses to get rid of you.
Riddle looked more stiff than usual, but instead of having that strict stiffness he was nervously stiff. Every time you wanted to talk to him to ask about his dormmates weird behaviors, or just talk about anything in general, he was visibly sweating, like he wanted to say something but he couldnât. You figured that because of that he was avoiding you.
Deuce and Grim were doing their absolute best to keep you in Heartslabyul, especially in their room. You were so confused because of that. If you asked them if they want to hang out outside they quickly shut down the idea, and came up with something to do while being indoors. Sometimes you felt like some kind of prisoner who canât leave.
But the weirdest one was Ace.
You had very little occasions to talk to him at all, as he constantly had something to do, which was weird as he was one of, if not the most responsibility and duty avoiding person you know. And it clearly wasnât a lie, as he was sweaty and tired all the time. But when you asked about it and proposed your help, he said he was fine and that you donât need to worry your pretty head about it.
One of those weird days, after lesson ended, Deuce and Ace quickly left you behind, saying they need to take care of something. They were gone before you could even open your mouth.
You sighed, having no idea why your friends were doing everything in their power to not spend time with you. Did your outburst that occurred few days ago had hurt them that much? That must have been the reason why they are acting like that.
âI am sooo hungry!â whined Grim, coming up from behind you.
He startled you a little, as you thought that he went off with the dumb and dumber duo.
He laid his paw on your leg to hold himself up. It was clear that he was not only hungry but also tired. You chuckled at the sight of that and picked him up. He instantly snuggled up to your chest.
âWhat do you think about going to the cafeteria then?â you asked him, not really eager to go to the Heartslabyul kitchen, knowing that you wonât even get the chance to step inside.
To your great surprise Grim declined your offer, asking if you could bring him some fruit from botanical garden. You were about to protest, saying that if he wanted something so specific he should go there himself, but when you saw his big, pleading eyes you knew you lost.
At the sight of you rolling your eyes, Grim exclaimed in happiness. He got out of your arms and said that he will go to the Heartslabyul by himself to take a nap, so you donât need to hurry. Which was weird as Grim always rushing you to bring him food that he wanted.
But you were too tired to argue, so you just nodded and you both went your own ways.
You were getting back to Heartslabyul empty handed. Apparently Grim lied to you, as the fruit he wanted didnât even grow in this time of year, as informed you Leona, that you were so fortunate to meet.
You were full of frustration. You decided that itâs time for you to finally confront your friends suspicious behavior. It was becoming tiresome and annoying.
As you were thinking about what you will say to them, your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of your phone.
Ace texted you to come to Ramshackle. There was no explanation or anything. Just one short sentence.
Even though you were confused on why he wanted you there. Maybe the ghostsâ finally gave your dorm back. But why would Ace be there?
So despite being tired, you changed your direction and started heading to Ramshackle, wanting to be over with anything that will be waiting for you there.

So despite being tired, you changed your direction and started heading to Ramshackle, wanting to be over with anything that will be waiting for you there.
When you finally got there, the sight that had greeted you after opening the dorm, was one that you would have never thought that you would see.
Before you was your dormâs lounge. But it wasnât the odd sight. The things that amazed you was the fact that it was covered in many Christmas decorations.
And not only that! When you looked around you saw everything else; in the corner was standing a beautifully decorated Christmas tree with presents laying neatly under it, there were socks attached to the stove with candies spilling out of them, on the ceiling there were origami made ornaments and in the middle of the room was a large table, filled with many delicious looking Christmas meals.
You were so confused that you instantly pinched yourself, thinking that youâre dreaming. But you fortunately werenât.
The sound of ghost laughing, while floating above you made you snap out of the weird trance you were in. And only now you saw all of your Heartslabyul friends and Grim standing before you, looking at you expectedly.
Only now everything clicked in your mind. The avoiding, hiding before you, keeping you inside their room, not letting you see anything. It was all so you wonât find out about them preparing all of this.
The first one to speak up was Riddle, who you noticed had a cozy sweater with a character somehow similar to Santa Claus.
âMerry Christmas Prefect, we hope you are satisfied with our work.â That made you realize todayâs date. You couldnât believe that from all that has been happening recently you forgot about it.
You were speechless. You didnât know what to say to them.
But they have taken it the wrong way, thinking that you werenât happy with what they did.
âW-we hope we havenât disrespect you or your traditions.â Riddle spoke up again. âAll we had was Aceâs retellings of what you have told him, and you probably know that he isnât a reliable source of information.â His words were followed by Aceâs yells of protests.
That made you look at him, at which he jumped at.
He gulped, already thinking that his plan backfired at him. âSo⌠it was your idea?â you asked, coming closer to him. He took a little step back, scared of whatâs to come.
âEmm⌠yea⌠I-I just thought that if you canât have that Christmas thing with your family, then m-maybe you can have one with us here insteadâŚâ his voice got quieter as he was speaking and he was keeping his head low in shame.
Maybe he was wrong for thinking of himself as a genius for coming up with all of this.
The silence that followed this was making everyone even more nervous. Your friends looked between each other with visible stress all over his face. They wanted to cheer you up, not make your mood worse.
It was broken by the sound of your sniffles.
They all instantly perked up, coming closer to you and apologising, while obviously throwing the shade at Ace, as it was his idea.
Ace got hit in the ribs by Deuce, and was now clutching his side.
But their fretting over you was interrupted by your sounds again, but this time â you were laughing with tears and snot running down your face. That confused all of them greatly.
âYou donât have anything to be sorry about.â You started, saying through your sniffles. âIâm just so happy that I couldnât believe my eyes. I still canât. Please donât let this be a dream.â You ended your sentence with another laughing fit.
That made them all sigh in relief. Ace had also winced in pain.
âYou got us worried for a moment.â sighed Riddle, his tensed shoulder visibly relaxing.
âWe are glad that you like our work.â Said Trey, handing you a napkin that you gratefully took.
âWell now that the misunderstanding is over, here!â came up Cater with a cozy Christmas sweater for you. You looked at it and noticed what the rest of them were wearing.
Caterâs sweater had a gingerbread cookies pattern, Treyâs had a big Christmas tree, Grim had a Christmas themes bow on him. Deuce and Aceâs sweaters had reindeers on them â Aceâs one had red nose and Deuceâs blue, and what made you even happier was the fact that on your sweater, was the same reindeer with a nose of your favorite color.
Seeing how clumsily they were done, you figured that they did them by themselves. Your smile only widened.
âAnd now we are all ready to begin celebrating Christmas. So letâs all go sit by the table.â Said Riddle, and you all cheered. Grim of course was the loudest one.
The dinner was full of laughter and happiness.
The ghost joined you despite not being able to eat. They laughed at the genius of Ace who came up with the whole tradition of ghosts idea.
They told you all about the process of making everything. Trey said that it was hard to make something even slightly similar to the meals from your story, without knowing their recipes and taste.
Cater was talking about how fun it was to make origami, and that he thinks he found a new hobby for himself. Thought his talking was interrupted all the time by him taking photos of everything, saying how he wishes there was an actual Christmas-like holiday in their world cause all of this is so photogenic.
Riddle apologized for avoiding you, saying how he didnât trust himself with keeping all of this in secret. He also admitted to being the one who did those sweaters. It was clear he was kind of embarrassed, knowing that his work wasnât the most splendid one. But you all encouraged him, saying that for his first time it came out really good. He just bashfully thanked you.
Grim was to no oneâs surprise too busy stuffing himself with food, and only sometimes said something with full mouth, Deuce was too occupied by reprimanding him to not talk while eating cause he can choke. And he was ready to take action if that would occur.
The only one who was suspiciously quiet was Ace.
On the surface he may looked like he was bored from all this sappy and happy-go-lucky atmosphere.
But the truth was that he was too focused on you and how happy you looked right now. Itâs not that you werenât laughing often, quite the contrary. He, Deuce and Grim are great form of entertainment after all.
But the sight of you being so content and comfortable around things that are familiar, things that remind you of your home made him upset.
That made him realize that you are not meant to be here. You never were. You two met only by a sheer coincidence.
And what hit him the most was the thought of you going back home. When you were talking about your family and traditions to him, and how much you miss them, he realized that there is no guarantee that you will be by his side forever.
Thought it doesnât seem like you will be going anywhere any time soon, as itâs clear that the headmage does not concern himself with searching for a way home for you.
But maybe one day he will succeed in finding one, or even you will discover it before him, he wouldnât be surprised at all if that would happen.
Would you choose to go back to your world? To your family and friends?
He knows itâs selfish to want you to have him as enough of a reason to stay here. Even though he isnât anything special, he really wants to be the one that makes you choose to stay.
He is not proud of the fact the he isnât sure if he would be able to let you go without trying any dirty trick to persuade you to stay here. In Twisted Wonderland. In Night Raven College. With Grim, Deuce and all of your friends.
Then his inner turmoil was interrupted by you two catching eye contact. You smiled at him, clearly grateful for coming up with this idea, before going back into talking with others.
He sighed. Thinking and worrying about future wasnât his thing. Better to stop now before he starts crying. He has a reputation to uphold after all.
He smiled and joined your conversation, instantly adding his slice of chaos to it, thinking that he better enjoy the here and now. Till itâs still here.
After dinner there was a lot more waiting for you.
Under the Christmas tree were presents that you havenât notice earlier. You felt ashamed for not preparing anything for any of your friends, but they told you to not worry about it at all.
These presents were clearly something that they hadnât had a long time to think about. But every each of them was very loudly screaming that it was from their assigned boy.
Trey got you some new kitchen utensils, which will be very helpful, as the ones you have are in poor shape.
Cater gave you a phone charm made from beads with familiar shapes; rose, heart, spade, club and diamond. It didnât take a genius to know what, or who they represented.
Riddle gave you few books that he hoped will fit your tastes. He even proposed that after you read them, you both can have some kind of a book club meeting where you will talk about these books.
Deuce gave you a set of new pajamas that were in really similar fashion to his hot pink, panther themed ones. He bashfully said that his mom choose them and sent them over. Even if they really werenât in your style, you couldnât say that they werenât soft and comfortable.
Grim didnât prepare anything, at which he got a lecture from not only Riddle but Ace as well. He argued with them saying that he is enough of a gift to you. Maybe in different situation you would be upset about this, but now it didnât bother you at all. Grim seeing that you were smiling when he exclaimed being your present, puffed out his chest, clearly proud.
And Ace, to your surprise had also prepared a present for you. You thought that arranging this whole celebration is enough of a Christmas gift, but in his eyes it was still not enough.
His present was a necklace with red heart charm dangling from it. You were confused, as it was clearly anreally expensive piece of jewelry, but when you wanted to refuse taking it, thinking that he will now have financial problems because of how much money he had spent on it, he told you not to worry about it, as he had bought it a really long time ago. There just never was an occasion to give you it, without it being weird.
But before you could ask why did he had it for so long, you were all swept by Cater to take a group photo with the camera that Crowley had gave you. So you decided to ask him about it some other time, and now just enjoy the time with your friends.
After all of the celebrating ended, you all decided to stay over at Ramshackle, as it was already night. And also Riddle wanted to make sure that his dormmates wonât avoid cleaning up everything in the morning.
Because all of the rooms were not cleaned up, expect for the one that you and Grim slept in, you all decided to just settle in the living room. You and Grim decided to join them there.
They all quickly fell asleep, clearly tired from all of the preparations.
But you, no matter how much you tried, you couldnât fall asleep.
You looked around. On the couch was sleeping no other than Riddle, who was chosen as the one to sleep there, while others would occupy the floor. At first he argued that you should be the one sleeping on there, but after some persuading he reluctantly agreed. And now he hugged Grim like some sort of plushie. Not like the fluffy guy minded, clearly comfortable with being in Heartslabyul housewardenâs arms.
Next to the couch was Trey, who like a card soldier guarded his Queen of hearts. At least in his dreams maybe. He was the first one to get unconscious, which Ace and Cater took big advantage of that. Their doings were visible in form of Treyâs face being full of doodles and Caterâs camera roll.
On your other side was an adorable sight â Cater cradling Deuce like a mother did to her baby. From the look on Deuceâs face it was clear that he was content with this arrangement. He was really a mamaâs boy.
But the only missing one was Ace.
When you stood up confused, ready to look for him. Which you didnât have to do for long as the door to the Ramshackle was slightly opened. So thatâs why it was kind of chilly.
You wrapped yourself in a blanket and headed outside. And there he was â sitting on the stairs.
He was clearly too lost in his thoughts as he didnât seem to mind the cold, despite shivering, but he also hadnât noticed you coming up behind him.
Thatâs why he was startled when you covered him with the blanket you took with you, sitting next to him. He looked at you, and visibly relaxed when he caught eye contact with you.
He smiled at you. âI see that you also couldnât fall asleep.â He started. You nodded in reply and snuggled closer to get more warm. But he didnât mind it at all.
âWhat are you doing out there at this hour?â you asked. He only sighed and glanced up at the night sky. You followed his gaze and were meet with a breathtaking sight of stars filling the whole sky.
âWhat got you so occupied? You look more focused than you are at any test we have.â You teased him at which he chuckled at. He sighed knowing what there is no use hiding anything from you, you knew him too well to not see through his façade.
âDo you think you would miss us when you will finally find your way home?â that confused you greatly. You didnât think that Ace thought about that at all. But now that you looked at his face it was clear that he was beating himself over it for some reason.
âThatâs a stupid question. Of course I would miss you, you guys are like a second family to me!â you got closer to him, if it was even possible. That made him look at you again, still toubled.
âAh forget it.â He was about to stand up but you caught the sleeve of his pajamas and had bring him down to sit again. He didnât fight against you at all.
âAce.â You started but he refused to look at you. That made you understand what he meant. You laughed quietly and returned your gaze to the sky.
âYou know, back in my world I could never see stars to brightly due to the air pollution. But now that I am here I could admire them all the time.â you felt him looking at you.
âWhat does that have to do with anything?â he asked. You looked at him again and smiled. âWhat I meant is that in both worlds there are things that make me one to stay. To be honest I had been thinking about that a lot recently. Of course if I could not choose at all I wouldnât. Now I miss my family and everything that I had left behind, but if I ever get back I would miss all of the things I love in Twisted Wonderland, both worlds have something worth staying for.â You finished, feeling the tears that begun to form in your eyes.
âHuh, I didnât know that seeing stars could be an enough reason to stay in another world.â He said with his typical mischievous grin. You laugh at that and laid your head on his shoulder, at which you felt him tens up.
âYea⌠something like thatâŚâ you felt him lay his head on yours.
âHey Aceâ you had spoken again.
âYea⌠Merry Christmas Prefect.â
