Connie’s name comes from the latin Contego, meaning to cloak, shield, protect. When he’s compared to his brothers, he seems like he’d be much less eccentric. After all, he doesn’t have the whole cyborg thing that Ortho has going on, and he actually physically attends his classes, even if he wears the classic Emotional Support Jacket instead of a blazer over his uniform. He’s easy to get along with, a warm and soft-spoken boy who gets embarrassed when he rambles too long about his interests and when he loses control of his volume.
He and Idia have a healthy sibling rivalry. They butt heads over grades, video game scores, waifus, Ortho Time, you name it, they’ve argued about it. These fights, as with all sibling fights, often descend into physical violence. Kicking, biting, childish violence. Ortho has to get the spray bottle whenever they get like that. As much as Connie annoys Idia, he’s still his little brother. He helps him with his homework and they hang out when Idia is having less anxious days. They build robots together and debug codes and Connie can always count on Idia to get him and Ortho out of the trouble they cause.
Because they aren’t supposed to be left alone together. Connie and Ortho cause Incidents when there isn’t a staff member or responsible upperclassman monitoring them. Connie enjoys chaos on his own, hiding behind a gentle facade, but when paired with Ortho, they turn into MENACES. They dyed the octavianelle uniforms pink, they turned Trein into a cat, they let loose three horse sized geese labeled 1, 2, and 4. They lured a flock of hungry crows into the cafeteria and then locked the doors. The explosions. The fires. The toilets they’ve flooded. The Floyds and the Leonas and the Vils and the Riddles they’ve enraged.
And when they hide behind Idia’s back, he Refuses to believe they did any of it. How could his cute little brothers have caused all of that mess? They’re nowhere near powerful enough! How dare they accuse his family of such a thing, can’t they see they’re making Connie cry? Ortho isn’t even capable of having mischievous thoughts like that! It was probably those other freshmen who did it, jeez!
His real eccentricity comes out when it comes to his brothers. He’s (secretly) just as paranoid as his older brother. He has bugs and cameras covering every inch of the campus, ai monitoring the footage and audio input. Nothing escapes his notice. He is the very concept of omnipotence. He sells gossip and information gathered to Azul. He knows the second someone says anything slightly bad about his brothers.
That usually doesn’t end well. Saying such rude, disrespectful, disgusting things about his hard working nii-san and his sweet little partner in crime? Unacceptable. Why have a mouth if you’ll only use it like that? He’ll show no mercy to those who knowingly slandered his loved ones.
