Hello everyone, I am an oldie who was part of this fandom group for years until too much negativity poured into it. I let go for a while and decided to come back, but seeing that the TRR fanbase has quietened down breaks my heart.
Not only was TRR fun, wild, and romantic, but it was so much fun because of the wonderful fanbase that supported it.

The moment they had left the balcony, sealing the doors behind them, the shared silence in the suite had grown heavy, thick with the wine, the moonlight, and the immense weight of their unspoken feelings. The air, which had been so easy and conversational during dinner, had become charged with a raw, undeniable, electrical energy.
âThey stood in the middle of the spacious room, the faint music of the night and the distant lights of the palace gardens now feeling a million miles away. The bed, pristine and vast, dominated the roomâno longer an obstacle to be avoided, but an unavoidable gravitational centre, pulling them toward it.
âEmilia finally broke the silence, her voice barely a breath. "It's late. We should... try to get some sleep."
âDrake nodded, but his eyes were fixed on hers, the soft, hesitant words an obvious formality. "Yeah. Right."
âThey changed, before moving towards the bed, each on their respective sides, the arrangement feeling suddenly impossible. Emilia slid under the covers, the silky texture of her nightclothes barely registering. She felt exposed, hyper-aware of Drakeâs presence, the tension in his broad shoulders as he sat on the edge of the mattress, before he lay down beside her, the respectful distance feeling like a gaping chasm, yet still too close. He could smell the lingering jasmine from the balcony and the soft, fresh scent of her skin. He felt the heat radiating from her. Every muscle in his body was coiled tight, battling the overwhelming urge to reach out.
âThis is insane, he thought, his chest tight. This is not part of the deal. This is a business arrangement. She's a professional. I cannot, I must not ruin this for her.
âBut then he remembered the easy fit of her hand in his, the genuine smiles sheâd given him, the absolute joy of her in his arms after the tennis match. He remembered her vulnerability when she spoke about her ex, James, the shared understanding of the missing puzzle piece. This wasn't a transaction anymore. This was a connection that felt more real, more vital than anything he'd ever known.
âHe heard her take a shaky breath. "Drake?"
â"I can't do this, Em," he confessed, the words ripped from his throat, raw and sudden. He rolled over, propping himself up on his elbow, finally looking down at her, the soft moonlight framing her face.
âEmiliaâs eyes were wide, luminous in the dark. "Do what?" she whispered, though she knew exactly what he meant. Her heart was pounding so violently she was sure he could hear it.
â"Pretend," he finished, his voice low, rough with emotion. He reached out, his fingers tracing the delicate curve of her cheekbone, a feather-light touch that nonetheless sent a jolt straight through her. "I can't pretend this is just a job anymore. I can't lie here and pretend I don't feel... everything that's been happening between us, even in such a short time. It's not fair to you, and it's certainly not fair to me."
âEmilia closed her eyes, leaning into his touch, a soft, involuntary moan escaping her lips. "I know," she admitted, her voice trembling as she opened her eyes once more, meeting his gaze with a desperate, honest clarity. "But you're a client, Drake. I... I don't want to mess this up for you."
â"You think I don't know that?" he countered, his voice aching. "But what good is the perfect cover story if the truth inside is tearing us apart? Look at me, Em. Tell me this is just a job."
âHis thumb was gently stroking the curve of her jaw, the movement mesmerising, hypnotic. The air thickened further, charged with the scent of their longing. He was so close that his breath fanned across her face, hot and uneven.
âEmilia couldn't speak the lie. Her resistance crumbled completely, dissolving in the heat of his gaze and the honesty of his touch. She lifted her hand, her fingers curling around his neck, tangling in his hair. "Stop talking," she whispered, her voice husky, heavy with need.
âThat was all the permission Drake needed. The last sliver of control snapped. He leaned in, his mouth claiming hers, the restraint and denial of the last couple of days exploding into a single, devastating, fire-hot kiss.
âIt was nothing like the kisses from earlier, the ones meant for public displays of affection. This was pure combustionâfierce, demanding, and utterly consuming. It was a confession, a promise, and a mutual surrender all rolled into one. Drake shifted, moving fully over her, his weight comfortable, necessary. He threaded his hands into her hair, deepening the angle of the kiss, pouring every ounce of his pent-up desire, his admiration, and his undeniable feelings into the connection.
âEmilia kissed him back with matching intensity, her hands clutching the soft fabric of his T-shirt, pulling him closer, closer still. The touch of his strong body against hers was a shock of pure pleasure. The scent of himâsandalwood and leather and masculinityâdrove every rational thought from her head. The bed, the suite, the palace, even the job, ceased to exist. There was only the heat, the passion, and the fierce, intoxicating reality of Drake.
âHe broke the kiss only to murmur against her lips, his breath ragged. "I knew it," he breathed, his voice thick with triumph and tenderness. "From the second you walked into that coffee shop. I knew I was in trouble."
âHis mouth found hers again, softer this time, trailing hot, open-mouthed kisses down her jaw to the soft skin of her neck. He paused, his hands reaching to grab the hem of his T-shirt. With a single, urgent motion, he ripped the soft grey fabric over his head and tossed it aside, revealing the hard, defined planes of his chest and abdomen in the moonlight.
âEmilia gasped, her eyes fluttering shut as she ran her hands over the smooth, hot skin of his back, exploring the familiar ridges she had only dreamed of touching.
â"I don't know where this is going, Em," he confessed, his voice dangerously low, his lips now hovering at her ear, "but I can't stop. And tonight... I don't want to."
â"Don't," she managed, her hands frantically working at the waistband of his boxer shorts, "don't stop."
âWith a shared, urgent need, they gave themselves over entirely to the inevitable, leaving the contract, the court, and the carefully constructed lies behind them, finally alone under the moonlight, they were no longer acting, they were real. Just Emilia and Drake.
âHis lips, hot and searching, traced a path from her earlobe down the sensitive curve of her neck, eliciting shivers that coursed through her body. Emilia's hands, trembling with a mixture of desire and longing, finally managed to push down his boxer shorts, freeing his hard length, her fingers curling around the hot skin of his erection. A raw groan escaped him, a low, guttural sound that only fuelled her own growing hunger.
â"Drake," she managed, her voice a desperate plea, "I want you."
âDrake pulled back slightly, his eyes blazing down at her, dark with desire. His fingers, surprisingly gentle despite their urgency, found the delicate hem of her silky pajama vest. With practiced ease, he slipped the fabric up her stomach and over her chest, pulling the clothing over her head and away from her entirely. The cool air momentarily meeting her flushed skin before his lips found the sensitive hollow of her collarbone. The vest top, now absent, revealed the soft swell of her breasts, barely contained by a lacy bralette.
âEmilia arched instinctively against him, her back bowing, desperate for more contact. She reached for the clasp of her bralette, her fingers fumbling. Drake caught her hands, his grip firm but tender. "Let me," he whispered, his voice thick with a promise of pleasure.
âHis eyes never left hers as his skilled fingers found the delicate clasp. It gave way with a soft click, and he pulled the lacy garment away, revealing her full, soft breasts to his heated gaze. Emilia gasped, her cheeks flushing crimson, but she didn't avert her eyes from his. There was no shame, only a burgeoning excitement, a powerful anticipation of his touch.
âHis gaze lingered, appreciative, worshipping. "God Em, you're so beautiful," he murmured, his words a benediction. Then, with exquisite slowness, he lowered his head, his breath warm on her skin before his mouth finally closed over one aching nipple.
âA jolt of pure, unadulterated pleasure shot through Emilia, a shockwave that made her cry out his name. Her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, arching into his embrace. His tongue swirled, suckled, teased, sending her senses into a spiralling frenzy. She had never felt anything so intense, so utterly consuming. Every nerve ending in her body seemed to awaken, humming with a vibrant, electric energy.
âHe moved to her other breast, lavishing the same exquisite attention, his free hand stroking the curve of her waist, then dipping lower, to the edge of her silken shorts. The cool fabric, wet with her desire, was a stark contrast to the burning heat his touch ignited.
â"These need to go," he whispered against her skin, his voice deep and resonant.
âEmilia could only nod, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. She helped him, her hips lifting instinctively as he gently peeled the shorts down her legs, the soft silk whispering against her skin as they joined her vest on the floor.
âShe lay before him, utterly bare, utterly vulnerable, utterly ready. Moonlight spilled through the balcony doors, bathing her in a soft, ethereal glow, highlighting the delicate curve of her stomach, the lushness of her thighs, the soft, sensitive skin between. She felt a flicker of self-consciousness, but it was quickly overshadowed by the searing intensity of Drake's gaze. His eyes devoured her, lingering on every curve, every secret hollow, every trembling inch of her. There was adoration, reverence, and a hunger that mirrored her own, stripping away any last vestiges of doubt or fear.
â"God, Em," he breathed, his voice raw with emotion, "You have no idea how much I've wanted to do this. How much I've wanted you."
âHis fingers traced a path from her hip bone, over her stomach, down to the soft skin between her legs. Emilia gasped, her whole body tensing, then melting under his knowing touch.
â"You're so wet, baby." He groaned, his own throbbing desire aching to be inside her.
â"It's all for you," she replied with a wimper, desperately wanting more friction.
âHe moaned, then finally pushed his fingers inside her. He teased, caressed, and explored, driving her higher and higher, a sweet, unbearable torment. She was trembling, utterly lost in the sensations, her body crying out for release.
â"Drake," she whimpered, her voice barely audible, "please."
âHe understood. With one final, lingering kiss to her lips, a promise of everything to come, he moved. The weight of his body shifted, his strong legs parting hers further. She felt the blunt, hot press of him against her, the intimate brush of skin, the undeniable reality of him.
â"Are you sure, Em?" he asked, his voice thick with a final, desperate check, his eyes locked on hers, searching for any hesitation. "There's no going back from this."
âEmilia didn't need to think. Her body, her heart, her soul, had already made the decision. This was inevitable. This was right. "Take me, Drake" she breathed, her answer immediate, fervent. "Make love to me."
âHis gaze burned into hers for another moment, a silent exchange of promises, of desires, of a bond that transcended any arrangement. Then, with a low groan that was half reverence, half fierce joy, he pushed forward, burying himself deep inside her.
âA shared gasp, a cry of pure, unadulterated pleasure, escaped them both, echoing in the quiet of the suite. The world condensed to just the two of them, entwined, breathless, finally, utterly connected.
For a moment, they simply held each other, bodies trembling, adjusting to the incredible reality of their union. Emilia's nails dug into Drake's broad shoulders, her legs instinctively wrapped around his waist, pulling him deeper, demanding more. The tightness, the fullness, the heat of him filling her was exquisite, a sensation she had craved without even fully knowing it. A soft, contented groan vibrated through her, a sound of pure, untamed joy.
Drake buried his face in the curve of her neck, inhaling her scent, a primal blend of jasmine and aroused woman. "God, Em," he rasped, his voice raw with disbelief and profound satisfaction. His hand slid under her thigh, pulling it up higher, tilting her hips just so, finding the perfect angle to maximize their connection. He was heavy, solid, and utterly perfect.
Then, with a slow, deliberate grace, he began to move. A gentle rock, a tentative push, a measured retreat. Each movement sent fresh waves of pleasure through Emilia, building on the last. She moved with him, finding their rhythm almost instantly, her body intuitively responding to his. The initial shock of his huge length filling her completely gave way to a burgeoning delight, a sensual dance that left her breathless.
"Look at me," Drake commanded firmly, his eyes dark, intense, and utterly consumed by her. "I want you to look at me when I make you cum."
Emilia's eyes met his gaze, a thrill shooting through her at his dominating tone. In the moonlit dimness, she saw not just primal desire, but a profound tenderness, an almost worshipful adoration that made her heart ache with a fierce, intoxicating joy. She was seeing him, truly seeing him, stripped bare of all pretenses, all masks. This was the man beneath the charming rogue, the loyal friend, the fierce protector. This was Drake, and in this moment, he was hers.
His hips continued their languid, rhythmic dance, each thrust a renewed promise, deepening the pleasure, stretching it out until it felt almost unbearable.
Emilia felt herself tightening around him, a delicious pressure building deep within her core. Her breath quickened, her hips arching higher, faster. "Drake," she whimpered, her voice strained, "I'm so close."
"Cum for me, Em," he growled as his own movements intensified, matching her unspoken plea. He watched her face, his gaze fixed on her, bearing witness to every shift of emotion, every subtle tremor of her body. His jaw was clenched, a vein throbbing in his neck, testament to his own fierce struggle for control.
The pleasure crescendoed, a tidal wave sweeping over her, consuming her. She cried out, her back arching sharply, her body seizing around his as wave after wave of exquisite sensation crashed through her. "Oh God, Drake! Fuck, Drake!" She clung to him, gasping, trembling, her nails digging sharply into his backside, pulling him deeper still.
Drake groaned, a deep, primal sound, the feeling of her body clenching around his was incredible. He pushed into her one last, powerful time, his body shuddering with his own release, pouring himself into her as her climax subsided. "Fuck, Em!" he groaned before he collapsed against her, heavy and warm, burying his face in her hair, their ragged breaths filling the silence of the room.
For long minutes, they lay there, entangled, skin slick with sweat, heartbeats slowly returning to a calmer rhythm. The moonlight still painted the room in silver, but now it felt like a silent witness to something profound and beautiful that had just transpired.
Drake eventually shifted, carefully, supporting his weight on his forearms so as not to crush her. He looked down at her, his eyes still dark, but now softened with an overwhelming tenderness. He reached out, his thumb gently stroking away a stray lock of hair from her face.
"Are you okay?" he whispered, his voice still hoarse.
Emilia nodded, a soft, blissful smile gracing her lips. She felt utterly sated, cherished, and more alive than she had ever felt before. "More than okay, Drake," she breathed, her fingers tracing the sharp line of his jaw, "that was incredible."
He smiled then, a genuine, unguarded smile that reached his eyes, crinkling the corners. He lowered his head, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead, then her nose, and finally, a tender peck to her lips. He remained inside her, the intimate connection a comforting, grounding weight.
"I don't know what happens now," he confessed, his voice barely audible, "but I don't regret a single second of this, Em. Not one."
"Me neither," she whispered back, pulling his head down for another, softer kiss. The future was uncertain, messy, and complicated. But right now, tangled in his arms, under the quiet gaze of the Cordonia night, it felt undeniably, exhilaratingly right.
The following morning, the Cordonia sun, a warm, benevolent presence, streamed through the sheer curtains of Drake and Emiliaâs suite, painting the room in soft hues of peach and gold. Emilia stirred first, a soft groan escaping her lips as she stretched, her muscles delightfully sore in ways they hadn't been before. The sheets, tangled and cool, offered a delicious memory of the nightâs passion.
âShe turned her head on the pillow, her eyes fluttering open to find Drake's face just inches from hers. He was still asleep, his dark hair falling across his forehead, his strong features softened in slumber. A possessive warmth spread through her chest. They had done it. They had crossed a line, shattered the illusion, and in doing so, had found something raw and real. It had been incredible, terrifying, and utterly breathtaking. Every touch, every kiss, every whispered confession had carved itself into her soul.
âAs if sensing her gaze, Drakeâs eyes slowly opened. For a long moment, they simply stared at each other, the echoes of the night still vibrating between them, naked in the morning light. A slow, tender smile spread across Drakeâs face, crinkling the corners of his eyes. He reached out, his fingers gently tracing the curve of her jaw.
â"Morning, beautiful," he rasped, his voice still thick with sleep and the lingering scent of their shared intimacy.
â"Morning," she whispered back, her heart doing a frantic little dance. The awkwardness she might have expected wasn't there; only a deep, comfortable contentment, a profound sense of rightness.
âHe leaned over her, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her lips, a kiss that promised new beginnings and whispered of a future she hadn't dared to dream of before. "Are you... okay?" he asked, his voice laced with genuine concern and a touch of vulnerability.
âEmilia smiled, a radiant, uninhibited smile. "More than okay, Walker. You?"
âDrake chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that vibrated against her. "Never better, Em. Never better." He paused, his gaze growing more serious, a hint of vulnerability flickering in his eyes. "Has this... has this ever happened before?"
âEmilia blinked, a small furrow appearing between her brows. "Has what ever happened before?"
âHe hesitated, running a hand through his already tousled hair. "Have you ever... slept with a client?" The question, though asked softly, carried a weight of uncertainty.
âEmiliaâs eyes widened slightly, then a soft, amused laugh bubbled up from her chest. "No, of course not." She shook her head, still smiling. "I've never wanted to. I only sleep with guys I feel something for. It's... not just a transaction for me."
âA genuine, radiant smile spread across Drakeâs face, a smile of pure, unadulterated relief and joy, as if he'd just won the jackpot. "God, Em. That makes me feel... amazing." He reached out, his hand gently cupping her cheek, his thumb stroking her skin. His gaze softened, becoming intensely serious. "So... are you saying you feel something for me?"
âEmilia's breath hitched, her smile turning shy, but her eyes held a clear, honest emotion. "Yes," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I like you, Drake. A lot. I know we only met a week ago, but I feel like there's something much more than just an act between us. Something... real."
âHis eyes, dark and deep, devoured her words, accepting them as the most precious gift. He pulled her closer, his arms wrapping around her waist, bringing their bodies flush against each other in the tangled sheets. He kissed her deeply then, a kiss that was both tender and fiercely possessive, a silent conversation of shared hope and burgeoning emotion. He poured all his relief, his growing affection, and his deepest desires into it, and she responded with equal fervor, her hands threading into his hair.
âWhen they finally broke apart, breathless, his forehead rested against hers. "I think so too, Em," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "I think... I think you might be the person I've been looking for my whole life."
âThey didn't confess love yet; it was too soon for those monumental words, still too uncertain of the path ahead. But in that moment, in the warmth of the Cordonia morning, tangled together in the aftermath of their passion and raw confessions, they both felt it â the undeniable, exhilarating whisper of something profound and eternal beginning to bloom.
âThey lingered in bed for a while longer, tangled limbs and hushed whispers filling the space, before the insistent call of the day's schedule finally pulled them apart. Today was the day of Liam's traditional pre-wedding beach party, a casual yet glamorous affair meant to showcase Cordonia's stunning coastline.
Later, as they made their way down to the private beach cove, the vibrant atmosphere enveloped them. Emilia wore a flowing, sheer white cover-up over her bikini, its fabric whispering around her as they walked, a large woven beach bag slung comfortably over her shoulder. Drake, dressed in dark swim shorts that hugged his muscular thighs and a loose, unbuttoned linen shirt that revealed glimpses of his muscular chest and toned stomach, strode beside her, his hand casually resting on the small of her back. The air was thick with the scent of salt, sunscreen, and sizzling seafood from casual beachside grills. Colourful umbrellas dotted the pristine white sand, and the turquoise water sparkled invitingly under the brilliant sun. Guests, clad in an array of stylish swimwear, laughed and chatted, enjoying refreshing cocktails.
âJust as they neared the main gathering, Hana waved enthusiastically from a makeshift bar area. "Emilia! You have to try this! It's a mango and passionfruit delight, truly incredible!"
âEmilia grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Sounds amazing, Hana! Be right there!" She turned to Drake. "Go on, you go find the guys. I'll grab you a beer while I'm over there?"
â"Perfect," Drake replied, giving her hand a squeeze before letting her go. He watched her for a moment, the natural sway of her hips under the cover-up a familiar, intoxicating sight, before he turned to navigate the crowds.
âDrake spotted Liam and Max already by the water's edge, caught in an animated discussion. As he approached, a third, familiar figure turned, a wide grin splitting his face.
â"Drake!" The voice was deep, boisterous, and utterly unmistakable.
â"Leo!" Drake's face lit up in genuine surprise and delight. He hadn't seen Liam's older brother in at least a year. They met in a hearty, masculine embrace, clapping each other on the back with enough force to make them grunt.
â"It's about time you showed your face!" Leo laughed, his blue eyes crinkling at the corners. "Thought you were going to miss the entire build-up!"
â"Wouldn't miss a chance to hang out with you for anything, you know that," Drake retorted, punching Leo playfully on the arm. "Just had a few... loose ends to tie up."
âLiam, watching their excited reunion, shook his head with a fond smile. "Still as subtle as a bull in a china shop, both of you."
â"Finally decided to join the land of the living, Drake?" Max piped up, a knowing smirk on his face as he splashed a bit of water towards Drake.
âDrake grinned, playfully shoving Max. "Shut up, Beaumont. Some of us didn't get much sleep last night." He punctuated his comment with a blatant wink at Liam, who simply chuckled, the conspiratorial glint in his eyes more pronounced.
âMax's smirk widened into a full-blown knowing look. "Oh, is that so?" He glanced around, as if searching for something, then decided. "Well, I'm off to find Hana. She probably needs saving from an overly enthusiastic cocktail." With another wink in Drake's direction, Max headed off towards the bar area.
As Max exited towards the bar, drawing their collective gazes in that direction, a figure emerged. It was Emilia, two chilled beers in hand, her cover-up now gone, revealing her stunning swimwear. The turquoise of her bikini matched her eyes perfectly, and a delicate tropical floral pattern adorned the fabric. It was a halter-neck style, accentuating her full, high breasts, and the bottoms tied with delicate strings at the sides, hinting at the delicious curves beneath. Her hair was swept up into a high ponytail, with playful, loose strands framing her radiant, makeup-free face. A delicate silver ankle bracelet caught the sunlight, glinting softly with every barefoot step she took across the warm sand.
âDrake felt his breath hitch in his throat. Heâd seen her naked, held her, made love to her, and yet, in that moment, under the bright Cordonia sun, she looked utterly breathtaking. A fierce pride, possessiveness, and an almost painful surge of renewed desire shot through him. Mine, his internal voice growled, a primal, possessive instinct he hadn't known he possessed. Last night had been incredible, beyond anything he could have imagined. Her touch, her passion, her cries â every memory was seared into his mind, cementing the undeniable fact that this woman was irrevocably entwined with his soul.
Leo, who had been mid-sentence, suddenly cut off, his eyes widening to comical proportions. His jaw dropped. "Fucking hell, Liam," he choked out, nudging his brother sharply with his elbow. "Who the hell is that?! Oh my god, she's gorgeous. Please tell me she's not a relative of ours... look at that body!" He whistled low, an unabashed, appreciative sound, already preening.
âDrake and Liam exchanged deeply amused glances, a shared look of exasperation and dry humor, enjoying Leo's unsuspecting walk straight into a conversational trap.
â"Leo, you're digging yourself a hole already," Liam mumbled, trying to suppress a laugh, a warning in his tone.
ââ"Huh? What? No, seriously, who is she? Look at her! Those legs, those hips, those... holy fucking god...those breasts! Sheâs got a walk that could stop traffic!"
Leo was completely enraptured, gesturing wildly towards Emilia who was now closer, a radiant smile on her face as she approached them. "Shit, she's coming this way! How's my hair? Do I have anything in my teeth? Liam, seriously, check!" He frantically patted his hair, his eyes darting to Liam for reassurance, a boyish panic in his usually confident demeanour.
âLiam tried again, "Leo, mate, she's withâ"
âBut Leo wasn't listening. He puffed out his chest, a confident, predatory glint entering his eyes. "She must know who I am. Can't resist coming over to talk to me, eh? You know the ladies can't resist the charms of Leo Rhys. Watch and learn, boys." He clapped Drake on the shoulder, a triumphant grin on his face. "I'll have her eating out of the palm of my hand in no time. Just watch this master at work." He struck his most handsome, charming pose, flashing Emilia a dazzling, practised smile as she finally reached them.
Drake, meanwhile, was fighting a losing battle with a smile that threatened to split his face. A silent, delighted chuckle rumbled in his chest as he watched his friends magnificent, impending downfall. He could practically feel the dramatic irony hanging in the air, thick and sweet. Oh, this was going to be good.
Emilia, completely oblivious to Leo's escalating panic and utterly misplaced confidence, reached Drake, her radiant smile still solely for him. Her heart, still soaring from their intimate morning, simply propelled her towards him, her focus entirely on him. Without a moment's hesitation, she handed him one of the chilled beers, then threw her free arm around his neck, pulling him down for a deep, passionate kiss. It was a kiss born of genuine affection and the sheer joy of being with him, a public declaration of their bond that felt utterly natural. When she finally pulled back, her eyes sparkling, she simply whispered, "Hey, you," her voice husky, full of a promise and a connection that transcended any act.
Leo's dazzling smile froze on his face, a rictus of utter disbelief. His jaw, was practically on the sand, as if unhinged. He actually blinked several times, his brain clearly struggling to process the visual information. The triumphant glint in his eyes was replaced by wide, comical shock, then slowly, agonisingly, by pure, unadulterated mortification. He stared, wide-eyed, between Drake and Emilia, then back at Drake, his "master at work" facade completely shattered into a million tiny, humiliating pieces.
âDrake, unable to contain his laughter, clapped Leo on the shoulder, a wide, genuine grin spreading across his face. "Em, this is Leo, Liam's older brother. Leo, this is Emilia, my girlfriend."
Leo spluttered, a string of incoherent sounds escaping him, his cheeks flushing a deep, tell-tale scarlet. He looked like a fish out of water, desperately trying to regain his composure, one hand actually flying to his chest as if he'd been shot. "Ni-nice to meet you, Emilia," he finally managed, his voice thick with mortification, his eyes still darting between her and Drake in disbelief. He thrust his hand out, nearly knocking Drake's beer out of his hand, and shook hers far too enthusiastically.
âEmilia, ever gracious, returned his handshake with a warm smile. "It's lovely to meet you, Leo. If you're anything like your brother here," she said, inclining her head playfully towards Liam, "I'm sure we're going to get along very well."
Leo grinned, "I'd like that."
âAs Emilia bent down slightly to place her large beach bag on the sand, just out of immediate earshot, Leo seized the moment. He turned a desperate, wide-eyed gaze on Drake, practically whispering, "You absolute bastard! You set me up!" His shoulders slumped in total, agonising defeat.
Drake just shook his head, as both he and Liam burst into unrestrained laughter, their shoulders shaking with mirth at Leoâs spectacular fall from grace. It was the kind of hearty, uninhibited laughter that only close friends and brothers could share.
âEmilia straightened up, a curious frown on her face as she looked between the three men. "What's so funny?" she asked, a hint of suspicion in her tone.
âLeo shot a furious, pleading glare at both men, his eyes silently screaming: Don't you dare tell her!
Drake, still grinning, managed to compose himself just enough to speak. He wrapped an arm around Emilia's waist, pulling her closer, and pressed a light kiss to her temple. "Oh, nothing, Em," he said, his voice laced with feigned innocence, though his eyes sparkled with mischief as he caught Leo's tormented gaze. "Just Leo here, demonstrating his... unique approach to meeting new, beautiful women."
âLeo's flush deepened, and he let out another strangled sound, somewhere between a groan and a whine. Liam, unable to hold it in, barked another laugh.
Just then, Hana and Max returned, a pair of fruity cocktails in hand for themselves, their faces alight with the relaxed joy of the party. Olivia, ever elegant in a chic one-piece, joined them a moment later.
â"Hey, what's all the ruckus?" Hana asked, surveying the scene with a curious glance. "You OK, Leo?" Olivia asked, "You look a bit flustered."
âLeo just groaned again, burying his face in his hands as Drake and Liam resumed their laughter.
â"Looks like a perfect day for a swim!" Max declared, already kicking off his flip-flops. "Who's coming in?"
â"Absolutely!" Emilia agreed, handing her beer to Drake. "Hold this, I'm going in!"
âSoon, the entire groupâDrake, Emilia, Liam, Max, Hana, Olivia, and even a still-slightly-chagrined Leoâfound themselves wading into the sparkling turquoise water. The cool embrace of the ocean was a welcome relief from the sun, and the playful energy quickly took over. They splashed each other, swam impromptu races, and formed alliances for chaotic water fights.
âAt one point, Emilia, with a mischievous glint in her eye, expertly splashed Drake, sending a cascade of cool water over his face.
âDrake gasped dramatically, shaking his head to clear the water from his eyes. "Oh, you are in so much trouble, Em!" he growled playfully, his eyes narrowing in mock menace. "I'll get you for that!"
âEmilia squealed with laughter, turning and splashing him again before making a break for it, kicking up water as she fled through the shallows. Drake, his own laughter echoing across the water, gave chase. His longer strides meant he caught her easily, his hands finding her waist as he swept her up into his arms in a classic bridal lift.
âEmilia shrieked, half in surprise, half in delight, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck, her legs kicking playfully in the air. Drake held her aloft for a moment, his eyes shining with pure joy and adoration, then leaned in for a quick, searing kiss that left her breathless.
â"Gotcha!" he declared triumphantly, and with another laugh, he spun once before gently but firmly tossing her into the sparkling Cordonia water with a satisfying splash.
âShe surfaced, sputtering and laughing, pushing wet hair from her face, her eyes alight as she looked up at him. "You absolute bastard!" she yelled, but her smile was wide and genuine, full of exhilarating joy.
âDrake just winked, wading closer. Before Emilia could fully regain her balance, he scooped her up again, this time effortlessly slinging her over his shoulder in a playful, caveman carry.
âEmilia shrieked with laughter, her head dangling upside down as she pounded his backside with an open palm. "Hey! Put me down!" she squealed, a mix of genuine amusement and mock outrage in her voice. Her wet hair dripped onto his back, and her laughter, bright and unrestrained, echoed across the water as he carried her back towards their group.
Their moment of lighthearted play was, of course, observed. Kiara, far from the water's edge, sat fuming under a large, striped umbrella, a brightly colored sarong wrapped tightly around her, a glass of something sparkling in her hand. Her eyes, already narrowed, turned into venomous slits as she watched Emilia's easy affection with Drake. Her jealousy was a palpable wave, radiating across the sand, burning hotter than the Cordonia sun.
âBeside her, Neville, still uncomfortably dressed in a dark, slightly wrinkled suit, moaned for the fifth time, "Ugh, it's absolutely scorching. I don't understand why anyone would willingly subject themselves to this heat."
âKiara resisted the urge to tell him to leave if he was so unhappy. She wanted him there, conspicuously by her side, for the sole purpose of making Drake jealous. But it wasn't working. Drake hadn't spared them a single glance, and the sight of him laughing with Emilia, of their carefree, intimate play, was making her increasingly furious.
â"Urgh, look at them," Neville continued, oblivious to Kiara's internal inferno. "They're no better than children, splashing about. So undignified."
â"Yeah," Kiara muttered, her voice tight, barely registering Neville's complaint. A bitter pang shot through her chest. She wished it was her slung across Drake's shoulders, her laughter mingling with his. She wished it was her he was chasing through the waves, picking up and playfully throwing. They had never done anything like that when they were together, not once. A flicker of self-awareness, sharp and unwelcome, pierced through her anger. She wondered why, though deep down she knew the answer. That type of boisterous, unrestrained behavior had always felt beneath her. Undignified, as Neville had just said. But now, seeing Drake's pure joy with Emilia, she desperately, wished it was her in his arms, her head upside down, her hand playfully smacking his backside. The thought made her grip her glass so tightly her knuckles turned white.
Back on the main stretch of beach, laughter and music filtered through the air, signalling the relaxed rhythm of the party's continuation.
âEmilia, standing beside Drake near their beach bag, felt the warmth of the sun on her back and the lingering dampness of the ocean on her skin. She decided it was the perfect moment for more than just sun protection. "Hey," she said, a playful gleam in her eyes, "my back is starting to feel a little hot. Would you mind putting some sunscreen on it for me? I don't want to get burnt."
âDrake's eyes darkened, recognising the unspoken invitation in her tone. "Of course, beautiful," he said, his voice deep and warm, his actions now solely focused on her. He retrieved the bottle of sunscreen from her bag.
âEmilia turned her back to him, her beautiful, tropical-patterned bikini top revealing the smooth curve of her spine. Drake squeezed a dollop of creamy white lotion onto his palm, the scent of coconut and tropics filling the air. He began to apply it, his strong, warm hands gliding over her back, tracing the delicate line of her spine, circling her shoulder blades, smoothing down to her waist. Each touch was deliberate, sensual, and lingering, designed not just to protect her skin, but to re-ignite the delicious shivers that still lingered from their night and morning together.
âHe leaned forward, his lips brushing the shell of her ear as he whispered, his voice a low, gravelly rumble that sent a tremor through her. "You're the most beautiful woman here, Em. The most beautiful woman I've ever seen. God, I want you so bad right now. I can't wait to get you back to our suite."
âEmilia's breath hitched, a thrill shooting through her. A slow, knowing smile spread across her face, and she subtly pushed her bottom back into him, relishing the soft groan that rumbled from his chest.
âShe turned then, taking the bottle of sunscreen from his hand. "My turn," she murmured, her eyes dancing with challenge and desire. She squeezed a generous amount onto her palm and began to apply it to his broad, tanned back, relishing the feel of his hard muscles flexing and relaxing under her fingers. Her touch was just as deliberate, just as sensual, circling his powerful shoulders, gliding down his spine, lingering at his waist.
âAs she worked, she rose onto her tiptoes, leaning in close, her lips brushing his earlobe. "I feel the same," she whispered, her voice husky with desire. "You're so sexy, I can't keep my eyes off you. I want you." She paused, her smile widening mischievously. "But who says we have to wait until we get back to our suite?"
âDrake slowly turned, his eyes, dark and heavy with desire, meeting hers. A single brow was raised, a slow, predatory, yet utterly delighted, smirk spreading across his face. The unspoken question, the shared anticipation, crackled between them.
âHe turned to Liam, who was casually chatting with Olivia. "Hey, Li" Drake called out, his voice smooth, betraying nothing to the casual ear, but with an undercurrent of barely controlled eagerness that Liam, knowing him for years, would undoubtedly catch. "I'm going to show Em the Forgotten Falls. It's just a short walk from here."
âLiam's head snapped up, his eyes meeting Drake's. A slow, knowing smile spread across his face, recognising the coded message. The Forgotten Falls was a well-known, secluded spot, a place of youthful adventures and romantic escapades. "No problem, mate," Liam said, giving a subtle nod of understanding. "Have fun, you two."
âThey left their friends, heading away from the main hubbub of the beach party and into the lush, vibrant forest nearby. The sounds of laughter and music slowly faded, replaced by the rustling of leaves, the chirping of exotic birds, and the distant murmur of falling water. The air grew cooler, infused with the scent of damp earth and verdant foliage.
âEventually, the path opened up, revealing a breathtaking sight. A magnificent waterfall cascaded high from an outcrop of moss-covered rocks, plummeting into a crystalline, emerald pool below. Sunlight filtered through the dense canopy, dappling the water with shimmering light. It was a secluded paradise, untouched and serene.
â"Oh, Drake," Emilia breathed, her voice filled with awe. "It's absolutely amazing."
âHe watched her, a softer, almost vulnerable smile on his face. "Yeah," he admitted, running a hand through his damp hair. "This was the place... me, Leo, Liam, and
Max would bring girls we wanted to impress when we were teenagers. Figured it was suitably dramatic." A sheepish chuckle escaped him.
âEmilia turned to him, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "So," she teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "seen a lot of action has it, this 'Forgotten Falls'?"
âHe laughed, a genuine, hearty sound. "A little," he confessed, shrugging playfully. "Depends on the girl."
âShe smiled, her gaze sweeping over the breathtaking scenery. "I can see why. It's very romantic." Without another word, she waded into the inviting pool.
âDrake followed, his eyes never leaving her. The water, cool and refreshing, swirled around them. As he reached her, Emilia pressed herself flush against him, her body a perfect fit against his. Their mouths met in a deep, hungry kiss, the world outside fading away. The soft roar of the waterfall was a primal backdrop to the escalating desire between them.
âHe deepened the kiss, his hands tracing the curve of her waist, her hips, feeling the heat of her skin. The urge to possess her, to lose himself in her again, was overwhelming. Breaking the kiss, he lifted her effortlessly, scooping her high into his arms. He carried her the few steps to a smooth, flat outcrop of rock at the edge of the pool, where the water gently lapped. He sat her down, his body following immediately, settling himself intimately between her open thighs. Her legs instinctively wrapped around his waist, locking them together.
âHe kissed down her neck, his lips hot against her cool, damp skin. He inhaled the scent of salt and arousal from her collarbone. "God, Em," he murmured, the words grating, thick with immediate need. "I need you right now. I need all of you."
âEmilia arched her throat, the sudden urgency in his voice stealing her breath. A primal sound, halfway between a gasp and a demand, escaped her lips. Her fingers buried themselves instantly in his wet hair, gripping him, pulling him closer to the sensitive skin she offered. "Fuck me, Drake," she whispered back, her voice shaking with desire. "I want you inside me."
âHis response was a low, hungry growl against her skin. With fierce, fumbling hands that knew exactly where to go, they shed the last remnants of their wet swimwear. The fabric slipped into the lapping water around their feet, discarded. Skin met skin, hot and desiring, slick with the cool mist of the falls and the heat of their bodies.
âDrake shifted, his hands leaving her waist to frame her face, forcing her eyes up to meet his. His gaze was dark, possessive, and utterly consuming. "Look at me," he commanded, his voice a low, rough vibration. "Tell me you belong to me, right here, right now."
âEmilia's breath hitched, a thrill shooting through her core at his raw demand. She didn't hesitate. "I'm yours," she whispered, the single word a complete, ecstatic surrender.
âDrake's eyes flared with triumph. He lowered his head, not for a kiss, but to claim the soft skin just above her breast, taking a quick, deliberate suckle that made her cry out his name. He followed the path, trailing fierce, open-mouthed kisses down her stomach, his tongue pausing to trace the delicate curve of her hip bone, sending a shockwave through her. His breath was ragged against her skin. His hands moved to her inner thighs, parting them wider on the rock, his touch firm, undeniable.
âHe pulled back, his gaze scorching down her body to the soft skin between her legs. He didn't touch her there with his hands, instead using the pressure of his knee to push her legs wider, claiming the space. He leaned in, his lips hovering an inch from her mouth, his breath hot as he waited for her plea.
â"Now, Drake. Please," she begged, her voice a desperate, beautiful sound of submission.
âDrake shifted, the movement swift and primal. With a low, guttural groan, he guided his hard length, pushing forward until he was buried inside her in one smooth, agonisingly deep thrust as she sat on the rough, cool rock.
âEmiliaâs back arched, a sharp, single cry of pure, raw pleasure escaping her as she took the full, perfect measure of him. Her hips instinctively found a rhythm, their bodies locked in an immediate, furious dance as the waterfall's roar enveloped themâa natural, deafening symphony to their reunion.
âHis hands gripped her thighs like anchors, lifting her slightly off the rock before slamming her back down onto his hips with a powerful impact, establishing a deep, insistent pace. The cool spray from the falls misted their bodies, a stark, breathtaking contrast to the burning heat building between their fused hips. Emilia wrapped her legs tighter around his waist, pulling him deeper, clinging to him as if her life depended on it. Her nails, forgotten in the urgency of the moment, scored his shoulders.
â"Yes! Oh God, Drake!" she cried out, her voice raw, lost in the escalating sensations, her eyes squeezed shut. "Harder, Drake!"
âHe devoured her mouth, swallowing her cries, their kiss a fierce, desperate communion that left a metallic tang of wanting on her tongue. His tongue tangled with hers, mirroring the wild dance of their bodies. Every thrust was a promise, a claim, a surrender. He felt her clench around him, tight and insistent, driving him closer to the absolute edge of his control. The ancient, secluded beauty of the falls seemed to vibrate with their passion, echoing their gasps and moans.
âEmilia's head fell back, her throat exposed, her breaths coming in ragged, broken sighs. Her entire being focused solely on the friction, the relentless rhythm, the exquisite, unbearable pressure building within her core. She was pure instinct, pure sensationâa magnificent, trembling ruin.
âDrake watched her, his gaze possessive and burning, seeing the pleasure unfurl across her face. He wanted to push her further, to shatter her with sensation, to claim every last piece of her. He thrust harder, faster, his own control fraying into oblivion. Her wild response fueled his fire, pushing him past the brink.
âHe reached up, his hand tangling fiercely in the wet strands of her hair He closed his fist, yanking her head back, exposing the long, sensitive line of her throat and shoulder. His other hand clamped tightly around her hip, anchoring her to the powerful rhythm he was setting. The sudden, forceful shift didn't scare her; it ignited a new, savage pleasure.
âHis mouth found the smooth curve of her shoulder, closing down on the skin just beside her neck. The fierce pressure was unmistakableâa hot, claiming bite that sent a jolt of pure, primal adrenaline through her. She gasped, the pain and pleasure a dizzying combination that drove her wild. She dug her nails deeper into his back, her entire body arching, welcoming his dominating force. He withdrew from her again, before slamming back into her with a powerful, hungry force.
â"You like that, don't you!" he growled, the words rough, muffled against her collarbone.
â"Oh God, yes!" she gasped out, the words raw and broken.
âHer eyes, hazy with arousal, fluttered open, locking onto his. In their depths, he saw not just desire, but a trust, a raw, undeniable connection that transcended the physical. It was everything.
âWith a final, guttural roar that swallowed the sound of the falls, he emptied himself into her, a primal release that shook him to his core. Emilia cried out, her body convulsing around him, clinging to him as wave after wave of shuddering pleasure swept through her. "Fuck, Drake! Oh my god!"
They collapsed against each other, skin slick with sweat and mist, breaths ragged, the waterfall's continuous roar a gentle echo to their spent passion.
âHe held her tightly, burying his face in her wet hair, his heart pounding a frantic rhythm against hers. "Mine," he whispered, the word a soft, possessive vow against her skin.
âEmilia, still trembling from the residual shockwaves of her climax, squeezed him tighter, tilting her head back to meet his gaze. "Yours," she breathed back, the single word a perfect, heartfelt final surrender.
âThey lingered there, intertwined, the cool water lapping around their legs, the ancient falls bearing witness to their raw, beautiful vulnerability and fierce, unbridled passion.
âUnseen and unheard, hidden amongst the dense foliage bordering the falls, Kiara watched.
She had followed them, a venomous curiosity driving her, fueled by the earlier displays of affection at the beach. She'd told Neville she needed a moment alone, then slipped away, her jealousy a relentless current pulling her in their wake. She had expected to catch them kissing, but not this. What she witnessed shattered her.
âThe raw, uninhibited passion, their bodies entwined, bare and unashamed in the dappled sunlight, the primal sounds echoing against the waterfall's roar â it was a scene of such intense intimacy, such undeniable connection, that it ripped through her calculating facade like a claw. Drake's gaze on Emilia, the depth of desire and something more in his eyes, the possessive way he held her, the genuine ecstasy on Emilia's face... it was real. It was everything Kiara had ever craved from Drake and never received.
âA cold, hard knot formed in her stomach, quickly igniting into a blazing inferno of fury and bitter longing. Her hands trembled, her knuckles white as she clutched the damp leaves she was hiding behind. The hatred she felt for Emilia was no longer a petty annoyance; it was a consuming, visceral force. This woman had not only stolen Drake's attention but his very soul. And she had done it with an ease, a vulnerability, a raw joy that Kiara herself had always deemed undignified and beneath her. Now, she realized it was precisely that uninhibited joy that had captured Drake. Kiara wanted him. She wanted him with a desperate, destructive intensity she hadn't known she possessed. And she wanted Emilia to pay. Slowly, silently, she backed away, her retreat as swift and silent as a predator's, leaving the intimate scene undisturbed but now irrevocably tainted by her venomous gaze.

Riley makes some strides to move away from living in denial, inching toward admitting how much she wants Drake around.

A/N: Iâve been gone from this fandom and my writing for a LONG time (my last chapter was posted 9/2022 đŤŁ). I have no idea if anyone that was reading my AU is still around (so I wonât be tagging my old tag list) and I totally understand if no oneâs reading. Life got in the way of my writing and Iâve missed it and need the creative outlet. So, it may be slow and infrequent and therefore deter some people from reading but if I write, Iâll still post just because I kinda need it for me right now. Hope everyone is well.

Hey! I hope youâre doing well, I know life got crazy. Just want you to know that I STILL think about The One That Got Away even almost two years after the last chapter was published haha. Hi! First, THANK YOU!!!!! This is an amazing message to wake up to and it means so much to me â¤ď¸ I am doing well, I hope you are too! But I miss it and I actually just opened my Word doc for this story and started writing again last week. With how long itâs been, I started again not even sure anyone would still be around to read it if I post, but your message changes that and gives me motivation to keep going đItâs slow going, kinda lost my groove; Iâm trying to find my voice and the voice of these characters again but I really need the creative outlet so I plan to keep at it and hope that groove comes back. â¤ď¸ Iâm not exactly sure when this chapter Iâm working on will be finished but hopefully itâs soon đ¤đź Thank you again, SO much!!!
Hello. I hope you are well. I really miss your writing. Hope to see you on A03 soon.
Thank you for thinking of me! Iâve been trying so hard to get back! Unbreak my heart is one of the first fanfics I came across on AO3. I know @twinkle-320 has a lot going on and has been away for a bit but she still deserves a shout out for everything sheâs contributed so far.

âQuote Me on Thisâ Prompt Challenge: I was given the quote âThe best thing to hold onto in life is each otherâ. It appears in the mood board below and will be bolded in the story.
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Riley & Drake, Liam & Olivia
Rating: MA
Warnings: Grief, mentions of death, mildly graphic details of injuries
Disclaimer:Â I am not a healthcare professional, all details of medical care and injuries are fictional dramatizations for the purposes of this story and I do not proclaim them to be accurate in real life.

A/N: After receiving multiple requests for a follow up to my Choices Prompt Challenge submission âPromise Meâ (read here), I decided to use this challenge to answer the call. If you havenât read that one, this one wonât make much sense. There is a time jump between that story and this one, and this is long so I could wrap this up without turning it into a mini-series :)
A/N 2: I kept this in the first person from Rileyâs POV in keeping with the style of âPromise Meâ but it does jump between present and past tense with Riley thinking back on the time between where that story ended and where she is now. Please forgive any errors in grammar or tense, as this is not my usual style.

âIâm sorry, Lucas. I really am, but I canât come back yetâŚâ  I nod as if Iâm on a video chat, but I know my boss canât see me.  âNo, noâŚitâs fine.  I understand and I appreciate you accommodating me as long as you have.  Iâve loved my time with the firm and Iâm grateful for the opportunity you gave meâŚYes, thank you LucasâŚyou too.â  When the line goes dead, my body shakes with the sob Iâve been holding in.
Outside itâs a rainy day but there is just enough light from the setting sun to allow me to catch my reflection in the window. Â In the mirrored image, the tears running down my cheeks blend with the raindrops on the window. This is my submission to the Quote me on This Challenge that I'm hosting. It's my first time posting a fic in a VERY long time so please excuse any errors.
I want to send special thanks to @fullbeaumonty / @chatonne-rousse , @leelee10898 , and @zaffrenotes for pre-reading this! And to @sfb123 for assigning my prompt, which will be bolted below.
Disclaimer: there are smatters of actual book dialogue that own to pixelberry, along with Drake Walker.
As always if you'd like to be added or removed from my tags, please let me know!
The night had been close to magical. The time spent with all of her friends at the beer garden had been exactly what Josie needed after everything she'd been through these past few weeks. She almost couldn't believe she wasn't dreaming, but there she was ambling back to the palace, her steps falling close to Drake's as he hummed happily. He stumbled only a little.
"Drake, are you drunk?" She giggled.
"Novak, I don't get drunk. Maybe you're drunk."
"Uh huh,"
"I'm just⌠happy. We're home. Savannah's coming homeâŚ..you like me for some reasonâŚ"
"Okay you've definitely had more to drink than I thought." Josie laughed, linking her arm with Drake's. He paused just before the door and they watched their friends disappear inside. He turned to her.
"Hey, how about a palace tour tonight? Just you, me, and portraits of stuffy old guys."
"We're all staying in the palace, Drake. I've seen it."
"Nah, Novak. You've seen the palace the way the royal family wants you to see it." He dropped his voice to a slightly slurred whisper, "I can show you the palace⌠like you've never seen it before."
There was a glimmer in his eye that Josie had never seen before and she wasn't ready to see it go away.
"I'm in. Where does this tour start?"
Drake proudly showed Josie special spots in both the ballroom and one of the many hallways. His gleeful demeanor was maybe the most adorable thing she had ever seen and she was hopeful that although he stood before her now looking very confused that he would have more stops on his little tour. Finally his eyebrows disappeared into his hairline as he looked at her, more enthusiasm oozing from him.
"Let me take you to our final stop,"
He grabbed her hand and dragged her along an unknown route to a part of the palace she'd never seen before. Stopping in front of a heavy wooden door he looked at her over his shoulder and wiggled his eyebrows before pushing it open to reveal an empty library.
"Did you bring me here to read to me?" She asked, taking in the splendor of the room.
He didn't answer. Instead he released her hand and started feeling along the spines of old books on one of the shelves, muttering to himself. His shoulder bounced off of a pillar as something began to rumble. A panel in the wall swung open and he grinned back at her proudly.
"I found it! C'mon Novak!" He dragged her through the panel whirling around to grin at her triumphantly.
"WelcomeâŚ. To my secret passage."
Josie looked around the stone passageway. It was cold and dimly lit and it had a faint odor of mildew.
"Where does it go?"
"A dead end. That part's no fun. The cool part is justâŚthis passage. Even Liam doesn't know about this place."
He told her all about how he used to hide away from the court in the passage when he was growing up. Taking a seat on a stone step he peered up at her.
"ButâŚnow I do. Why bring me here?"
He told her about how he thought she'd like a secret place to hide and that they could share this one. Josie sat beside him in companionable silence for a few beats.
Finally, she spoke, "Thanks for showing me this place, Drake."
"Thank yooouuu for going on my tour."
"I'd give it five stars. "
"Then my job here is done, " he replied, his face breaking into a goofy grin.
Again they fell into a quiet, Drake staring at his feet as he dragged them across the stone and Josie staring at Drake.
"This passageway reminds me of you." She told him.
"Because I'm cold and stony?"
She threw her head back laughing.
"No, I don't think that at all."
"You might be the only one. "
She laid her hand on his knee and Drake's expression sobered. His eyes settled on it briefly before flicking up to look into Josie's.
"It's a safe haven. Because you make me feel safe."
He swallowed hard.
"I'd never let anything happen to you, Novak."
"I believe you. Even if you haven't always been my biggest fan."
"I never said that!"
She grinned, "You never had to, I could tell you were always trying to keep me at arm's length, Drake."
He stared into her eyes for a long time before he offered, "IâŚif I didn't keep you close I could ignore what I was feeling. It would be easier when you and LiamâŚ"
"Drake, I was never in love with Liam. I care about him in the same way that you do. "
"But he would move the sun and the moon for you! I justâŚI don't understand why you would choose me. Liam can give you everything and-"
Josie reached up and placed her forefinger over his lips.
"Life with Liam will always be a whirlwind. Tours and balls and meetings and hidden moments in the hedge maze. Drake, my whole life has beenâŚwell a series of unfortunate events. Nowhere has ever felt like home. Everyone has always felt temporary. Coming to Cordonia made that worse. I've been in the center of a maelstrom, especially since the coronation and IâŚI don't blame Liam, I don't. But, he hasn't been here by my side; and yetâŚin the middle of my chaos, there was you. Every single time I needed someone, you were there. After everythingâŚI never cared about Liam's wealth. So it doesn't bother me to turn it down for the most valuable things life can offer: love, steadfastness, loyalty. You offer me all of those things, Drake Walker. And in my mind you're worth a thousand Liams."
In a flash Drake's lips were upon hers, his hands coming up to tenderly cup her face on each side. Josie's eyes squeezed shut as she gripped the denim at his waist returning his sentiment. When finally they parted Drake rested his forehead on hers with more clarity in his eyes than she'd seen from his all night.
"I don't know what I ever did to deserve you, NovakâŚJosie, but I swear I'll never stop trying to be worthy of you." He whispered reverently. She grazed her hand down his cheek, a shiver going down his spine at her touch.
I love this scene in canon and I love this SO much more â¤ď¸â¤ď¸. In canon, once youâve chosen your LI there are points where it still feels like the relationship is just âfriendlyâ instead of romantic so I love seeing the deeper connection between MC and Drake that canon missed the mark on!
âQuote Me on Thisâ Prompt Challenge: I was given the quote âThe best thing to hold onto in life is each otherâ. It appears in the mood board below and will be bolded in the story.
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Riley & Drake, Liam & Olivia
Rating: MA
Warnings: Grief, mentions of death, mildly graphic details of injuries

Thank you!!! đâ¤ď¸ I honestly started a follow-up picking up right where part 1 left off but when I got my quote for this challenge it felt perfect and decided to jump forward with her having been at his side for a while. Savannah is definitely awful here and doesnât seem to care that heâs making progress đ¤Śđťââď¸ no way was Riley gonna let her pull the plug! I am SO glad you liked it and thank you for reblogging!
A/N: This is set 4 years after my canon compliant series, âNot Quite Cinderellaâ and is sort of a âWhat ifâ Riley didnât stay after the end of Book 2. It can be read as a stand alone, but just things to know from the series: 1) Rileyâs given name is Emily, she changed it at 18, 2) Rileyâs mom passed away a year before the social season so Riley was still processing her grief on the one-year anniversary that occurred during their time at Applewood in my series.
A/N 2: First person is not my usual style soâŚhope itâs okay :) and please forgive any errors (grammatical, tense, etc.)
The cool wind pushes my hair back as I walk along the familiar path, every step taking me deeper into the past. Itâs been years since Iâve been here; everything is different.
Everything is the same.
Iâm not paying attention to the present as I walk, Iâm too lost in memories of long ago. Thatâs why I donât notice the person walking towards me until I hear a familiar voice call my name.
I freeze. It canât be. What are the odds?
I lift my head as my eyes dart wildly around before finally landing on a face Iâd recognize anywhere, even now.
Thank you, I love this reblog and your kind words mean SO much â¤ď¸ it was heartbreaking to write and I seriously canât imagine writing it without that last partâŚI couldnât do that to Drake

I have to admit, I cried writing it even though I knew how it would end 𤣠I almost picked up right where part 1 left off but I wasnât trying to start another series lol so i had to go with the time jump and of course Riley would be there the entire time. Savannah as the âbad guyâ just made sense but maybe she deserves some creditâŚit could have been their yelling that brought him out of it đ¤ˇđťââď¸ Thank you so much for reading and reblogging! â¤ď¸

8/17 Update - Unbreak My Heart and Cinderella From the Ashes - NEW Chapters
A/N - I am trying to get myself on a schedule for writing. I am hoping to take 2 weeks between updates, using 1 week per WIP to write a chapter and then post them together on the same day. I overshot that a little this time (18 days) and a prompt challenge here might slow down the next chapters slightly but at least I have a goal Iâm working toward. Thank you so much for reading these stories and for the likes, reblogs, and comments on the last chapters. New Chapters went up on AO3 today and are linked below.
Cinderella From the Ashes - Chapter 14 - Itâs My Life
Chapter Warnings:Â NSFW (do not read if you are under 18) and language
Chapter Summary - Drake and Neville face off in a duel. The Halloween Ball resumes with an air of celebration. Riley learns the identity of the mystery woman and provides back-up for Olivia before jumping in to save Bertrand from himself when it comes to love. Riley and Drake enjoy some alone time and returning to the ball not knowing all hell is about to break loose, AGAIN.
Unbreak My Heart - Chapter 13 - Paradise
Chapter Warnings:Â LanguageÂ
Chapter Summary:Â Riley finally gets her chance to talk to Liam. Itâs a mostly open and honest conversation and goes as well as she could have hoped but she doesnât leave it feeling any better. The investigative team, including a new member, once again meets up to discuss evidence and leads, meaning Riley has to face Drake for the first time since he left Lythikos. In difficult moments of their meeting, Drake steps up to support her but things once again get tense when they find themselves alone. Riley gets ready for the engagement party with her best friend and arrives feeling calm and composed but the drama ramps up quickly when she sees both Madeline and Liam.
Liamâs side of the story here is better and more detailed than in canon, I kinda like him here but I do still wish heâs back off because Iâm still #teamDrake lol
âHow do you know that?â Hana inquired innocently.
Lol, sheâs adorable!
Love the conversation between Riley and Drake but theyâve still a looong way to go.
âOh yesâŚyour âpersonal invitationâ at Liamâs insistence, right?Oooo, Hana lied! lol
HAH!!
Oh I wonder how this âtalkâ with Maddie will go down
CFTA
You know what bothers me about Neville and this duel. Liam, as king coulda nipped Nevilleâs attitude in the bud a long time ago but now, he continued to let him and others disrespect and belittle his 'best friendâ UGH!
UBMY- I am trying SO hard to keep Liam somewhat redeemable đ¤Łđ¤Ł. I feel like canon clings to the âperfect princeâ image which I get why they do it, itâs a fairytale romance but even princes/kings have flaws so Iâm straddling this fine line of trying to show heâs flawed without changing the character entirely. Riley and Drake are making some progress and theyâll keep making baby steps. Riley is gonna hold her own with MaddieâŚI hope to have that chapter posted VERY soon!
CFTA- I completely agree with you! Liam should have absolutely been stepping up and saying something about how some people treat Drake! I love that Drake stands up for himself and Riley though, and Rileyâs got his back too!
