Past is defined as a noun.

It means the time/ period before the moment of speaking or writing.

I find that word ironic.

My past defines me.

See, people often tell you that your past does not define you,

That it is only the you that matters now.

But then why do you always tell me about who I am because of my past?

Because of mistakes, promises, bad days and mood swings?

Well, my past defines me.

I am a bitch, a total slut, a heartbreaker

I am over-emotional, awkward, a freak

I am unwanted. I am hopeless.

My past defines me as someone who should roll over and die,

Someone who will go no where because me and my dreams are trash.

But

Those are all the things that you called me.

You are just one voice out of a million.

Yet, yours will always speak the loudest.

But I will not allow it to this time.

I will tell you what my past defines me as

I am creative, I am glowing with beauty inside and out.

I am funny, intelligent, and have more love to give than you ever will experience in your whole life

I am a broken heart that wrapped itself up and kissed away the bruises because I knew crying about it wouldn’t make it heal

I am a weed in the sidewalk growing, because I don’t know I’m supposed to be there, but I don’t care either.

I am sorry, that you,

Try to take my light to cast a better shine from yourself.

I am sorry your dull light can barely fill an empty closet filled with the stolen treasures of others.

My past defines me.

The me now defines me.

The worlds just dark and bleak, I guess.

But why?

Wow. What an amazing question that doesn’t have a straightforward answer, I guess.

“Do you notice your moods change... maybe swing with each season?”

No.

I’m consistently

sad.
