hi, filipino here. just want to say that our independence day is june 12, not july 4. july 4 is when the united states government decided that they would recognize our freedom, specifically because it is your independence day and they wanted to cement their cultural hegemony over our country. and because of their influence on our country this was recognized for a time as our independence day. we still commemorate it, but i hope you can understand why we don’t want our independence day to be associated so closely with our former colonizer. it wasn’t even a work holiday for us.

fun fact: when lightning strikes ur house it just sounds like particularly loud thunder :)!

okay so figuring stuff out with insurance when youre not insured is a Nightmare, that's another fun fact for y'all :)! we gotta replace the tv, soundbar, lighting, and subwoofer, but luckily everything else is intact (barring water damage from the firefighting) and nobody got hurt 🙏

"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)
