the sight of lowell’s form practically engulfed by the teetering christmas tree is enough to emit a quiet chuckle from her, and for a moment she just stands there, letting the amusement linger. quickly, she moves over to the spot, placing the stand on the floor. ❝ alright, quick, and be careful. zombie healing powers or not, we don’t need you throwing your back out with that thing. ❞

once liv places the stand on the floor, lowell carefully moves to set the tree in it. he sighs in relief once the weight is off of him. as he moves it back toward the corner, he chuckles at her words.  ❛ worry not, this tree is upright & standing freely. ❜  he beams at the woman as he kisses her cheek.  ❛ now --- what’s this about the ornaments? ❜

                     ❝    don’t  even  worry  about  it.  like  I  said,  I   hate   this  top.   &   it  turns  out  that  this  might  just  be  the  best  way  to  meet  strangers.    ❞   it’s   true   that,  since  she  got  here,   meeting  people   has  probably  been  her   BIGGEST  CHALLENGE.   the  girl  is   hardly   a  social  butterfly.   ❝    lead  the  way.  coffee’s  awaiting.    ❞

                         smiling in agreement, lowell walks beside the young woman & glances around. he’s mostly certain that they’re going the right direction. after a few minutes, he murmurs,  ❛ i think... it’s over here. ❜ as they turn the corner, he smiles widely.  ❛ ah, yes. here we are. ❜  he smiles when he sees the familiar sign.  ❛ if you don’t count the original starbucks by the pike place market, this is one of the most popular places to get coffee. ❜

            ❛ do you have someone that could confirm that? ❜

❛ ah, um... my girlfriend. i was rather contagious,   so i didn’t have anyone over, but she insisted. ❜

 ❝ i’ll see what i can find. stay put. not that you’ve got much of a choice. ❞ with another grin, she turned away from him, returning from her room a few minutes later after a rather unsuccessful rummage through her closet.  ❝ so. good news is, i found the tree stand. still in good shape, more or less. bad news, the decorations are still m.i.a. ❞

lowell waits as patiently as he can for liv to retrieve a stand for the tree, though he can feel gravity working against him. he’s straining just a bit to keep it upright, but luckily, the woman returns just in time.  ❛ right.  well, one worry at a time. if you would be so kind as to put that over here so i could set up the tree, that would be LOVELY. ❜  he lets out a little laugh as he carefully shifts to keep the branches out of his face. 

            ❛ —— there are witnesses that claim you were present the moment                      a girl’s car impacted the lamp post. some pointed out you looked                      suspicious. this is just standard procedure. ❜

❛ i don’t recall any of this, sorry. i’ve been ill & held up   in my flat for the last week. ❜

        ❛ LILLI. And please, what’s creepy about compliments           anyway? A compliment brightens someone’s day, it’s           HARDLY the creepiest thing you could be dong with           your time! ❜

Lowell beams at Lilli & chuckles a bit under his breath. It’s refreshing to meet someone who understands this specific habit.

                           ❝    hm   …   well,  if  you   insist,   then  I  suppose  I  could  go  for  coffee.    ❞   she  offers  him  a  gentle  grin   &   eyes  him  carefully  for  a  few  seconds  before  offering  her  hand.   ❝    I’m   Mina,   by  the  way.  Mina  Kinney.    ❞
