a small snort of amusement escaped steve as he tilted his head to the side, “that’s what would make me a horrible serial killer? my good looks?” he questioned, scrunching his nose up. “not like… empathy or anything like that?” he teased. “besides, is that a real rule? are all serial killers really ugly? how do they get people to trust them then?” 

“ fine , you caught me red-handed . ” she raised her arms up in a fake surrender , taking in a deep , exaggerated breath . her voice was steady and dauntless , unaffected by the heart palpitations and racing thoughts . dauntless as she was , she was only a human . a human who would like to avoid prison . “ but if i’m trespassing then so are you , so don’t get your panties in a twist . ” 

though connor was more a detective for more complicated cases rather than the every day crimes of a typical officer, he still took it upon himself to do what he could to keep peace in the town. he’d heard someone in an area that they shouldn’t be and he decided to investigate. he pressed his lips together, thinking over the other’s words. “technically, yes, i am trespassing. but, considering i work for the law, i think i don’t get in as much trouble as you,” he said, carefully straightening up and motioning for the other to follow him. “what are you doing here? you’re obviously very aware of what you’re doing, so you can’t say you accidentally wandered in here.”

The while that she sat alone at the table, relishing the chance to give her feet a break, she couldn’t stop staring at the scribbled out word she had written. Sure that she didn’t know what it was but a part of her seemed to find some familiarity in it anyway. Only when the kind man returned did she look up, giving him a bright smile when she saw he had gotten hot chocolate for them both. It’s been ages since I’ve had hot chocolate! Thank you so much for this. It really is kind of you. I hope I can return the kindness to you someday. She paused writing long enough to take a drink before picking up the pen once more. I like it very much in here. These chairs are comfortable.

Ben let out a soft sigh.  He should’ve known that this was gonna be difficult.  If it had been any of his other siblings, except maybe Five, he knew that this would have been a lot easier to explain.  Diego was probably gonna be a tough nut to crack.  “Really, we’re doing this?”  He shook his head.  “Okay, fine.  Growing up, you had a stutter, and the only person that could get you through it was Mom.  I’m willing to bet you never told anyone about that.”  He offered the slightest hint of a smile, hoping that would suffice.  “So is that good enough, or do I need to reach deeper into my pit of repressed childhood trauma?  Because the fact that I died before making it through puberty isn’t something I like to think about in depth.”

diego gave the other a scrutinizing look as he waited for the proof he was waiting for. however, he was caught off guard by the information given, feeling a sort of second hand embarrassment from the past. he wet his limps, shifting his weight. he didn’t know how to cope with the fact that his dead brother was somehow alive again. “okay, okay -- fine. you win. so, you really are ben and you’re really,” he said, reaching out to roughly tap ben’s shoulder. “--alive. this is insane. do you know how we got here? how this all happened, or are you just as clueless as me? i mean, i’m not clueless -- i’m definitely working on some theories.”

“Stalking you?”  Ben’s eyes went wide and he couldn’t help but laugh a little, despite how serious the situation really was.  He should have known that Diego wouldn’t immediately recognize him, hell, it had been over a decade since his brother had seen him.  “Come on, it’s me, Ben.  Number Six?  I’d show you the tentacles as proof but I don’t want things to get messy.”  He smiled, hoping that the other man would  believe him, but somehow doubting that he would.

diego stared at the other for a solid moment. there really was no way of telling if the other was lying or not. but, that did inform him of who the man reminded diego of. he did look like ben if he managed to grow up alongside the rest of them. “number six? yeah -- either you’re crazy or i am at this point,” he said with a scoff. but, with how strange this whole situation one... could it be possible? “if you’re really ben, then tell me something that no one else would know outside the academy,” he challenged, gaze scrutinizing.

That’s okay. I’ve had issues with my feet for as long as I can remember. Going barefoot gives me the least trouble and pain, she wrote after entering the cafe with a smile of thanks to the nice man. Studying the menu intently, her eyes lit up joyfully and she quickly wrote down, fiskefrikadeller, only to pause as her joy turned to confusion. She didn’t know what she had just written as it wasn’t in a language she consciously recognized. Looking back up to the menu again, she then crossed out her previous scribble and wrote under it, the fishcake sandwich sounds wonderful.

what an idiot, that was the first thing that popped into five’s head the moment his gaze locked on the male. he wasn’t necessarily dressed for today’s weather but then again some men had trouble admitting that they weren’t cut out to handle temperatures like this. their pride getting in the way and causing them to make ridiculous decisions such as wearing shorts in december. at least this guy wasn’t that far gone. though despite his initial thought, five’s gaze quickly shifted toward the drink in the other’s hand. he needed some coffee, more than anything. after all, he had only had two cups this morning. he was caught off guard when the other took notice of him and he let out a scoff, “i wasn’t thinking that it was for anything but the caffeine until you brought it up,” he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jacket. “my jacket? oh, i bought at this really neat place called the store. but if we’re going into specifics, i grabbed it out of my closet this morning.”

Klaus wasn’t normally one to eavesdrop –okay, that was a lie, he was totally the type to eavesdrop but he wasn’t this time. At least not intentionally. He was minding his own business, fighting with a nail his coat had managed to snag on when he heard a familiar voice. A voice he had heard enough times over the years that he could pick it out of anywhere. Whipping his head around, his eyes searched before landing on Diego. Diego, who was standing there without a coat and talking to someone. “Holy shit,” he whispered to himself as he grabbed his coat and pulled, the fabric of his pocket tearing free from the nail.  Without so much as a glance back, he ran towards his brother, afraid that he would vanish if he looked away.

“Diego!” Klaus stopped short, a bright smile on his face before he managed to reign in his exuberance just a little. “Where have you been? –Where’s your jacket?” Did he think he was stronger than the cold? Yeah, probably. Without so much as another word, Klaus shrugged off his coat and held it out. It would probably be a tight fit but it was better than nothing. “Here. We can share.”

diego’s attention was quickly pulled away from the stranger when he heard the familiar voice, surprise yet not at the same time. if diego got dropped into some weird town, chances were his siblings would be too. though him and klaus weren’t too close, family was still family. “klaus? where have i been? where are we?” he questioned, not expecting much of a logical answer from the other. though, it wold probably be more than what diego had at the moment.

he glanced between the coat and his brother, actually contemplating using it. but it was definitely more klaus’ style and not something diego would be caught dead in. he gently declined with a shake of his head. “no thanks -- fur doesn’t suit me. why don’t we go somewhere -- you have somewhere, right? i’m not cold, but whatever that is isn’t keeping you warm,” he said, definitely projecting his feelings onto the other. 

the smile on the other’s face almost made kendall feel immediately uneasy, brows knitting together in confusion the moment the male began to ramble on as if they were old friends who hadn’t seen one another for a while. but with a phrase such as ‘ my entire life ’ used, it made it seem as if these two had a closer relationship than he believed. there must have been some sort of mistake here. last time he checked, he was an only sibling. kendall nervously rubbed the back of his neck, “is there any chance that you’ve mistaken me for someone else, dude? i’m not really sure what kind of damage you have with your dad but it sounds like you need to get your shit sorted if you think your dad would kidnap you.” he chuckled, trying his best to lighten the mood as much as possible. his eyes flickered about, taking in their surroundings before he cocked his head to the side, “it’s a nice town, yeah. kind of slow-paced but fine. i’m sure you’ll get used to it eventually, especially when you start to figure out whatever through.” he had dealt with his own troubles in the past and wasn’t going to write him off straightaway. maybe he had just had a long night of drinking? it happens to the best of us.

Of course Ben was staring.  After all, he’d spent a lot of time hoping that one of his siblings besides Klaus would show up, and he wanted to make sure it was really Diego.  However, once his brother caught him staring, his eyes fell to the ground.  “Sure it is, Diego.”  He muttered with a soft chuckle before his head snapped back up.  “Uh, there’s a little shop a few blocks over that’s full of them.  But here, you can have mine in the meantime.  The cold doesn’t bother me.”  He smiled, removing his jacket and holding it out to his brother.

diego shoot the other a confused look. he didn’t take the jacket, simply holding his hand out to block the other from giving it over. “how do you know my name?” he questioned, his suspicious nature shining through. he hadn’t given his name out to much of anyone -- and certainly not this guy. though, there was something about his face that was reminding diego of someone, but he couldn’t quite think of who. “if you’re stalking me, i’m going to make you regret it,” he warned.

“I’m not an animal, and I’m not a princess, either.”  Morgan replied, crossing her arms over her chest.  Normally, things like this didn’t bother her, but she was already in a bad mood, and this mundane interaction just threw her over the edge.  She got that from her dad, for sure.  “I really don’t think a cup sitting on a raft for five minutes will do any damage.”

jules chuckled and shook her head. “calm down -- i didn’t think you would get so offended by a joke. how does anyone make friends around here if you can’t even make jokes,” she said as she adjusted her hair. “do you make those, or are they kind of illegal around here,” she asked. she couldn’t help but keep teasing the other -- it was just one of her default actions.

realizing that he hadn’t put enough money in the parking meter, ander was almost expecting a ticket at this point. but when he actually saw the officer standing in front of his car, he ran a hand down the side of his face in sheer frustration. the world was truly working against him. he had intended to run into the shop for ten minutes, but that ten minutes quickly turned into a half-hour spent searching for a new pair of shoes that were comfortable. the pair he had for tennis were beginning to tear at the soles and he needed to look presentable for an upcoming competition. a huffy breath fell from the boy’s lips as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jacket, trying his best to keep his calm as the man spoke. “punished? i couldn’t imagine why you’d be punished.” there was dry sarcasm in his voice. “–though if you flirt with all of the people you decide to write tickets for that might be a valid reason.” he knew that he had to be careful here when it came to what he said. his attention shifted toward the ticket as he plucked it from his windshield, “fuck… my parents are going to kill me.” it wasn’t even HIS CAR, it was his mom’s. 

Nodding eagerly at the mention of using a notepad, her first scribble on the paper was if he could explain what he meant by sign. Turning back to walk in the direction he was heading the pain in her feet, already a constant companion, flared up at the thought of wearing shoes and she shook her head no before making use of the paper again. Shoes make the pain worse, please don’t worry about getting any for me. I’ll be okay without them.

Maya had been leaning against a wall while drinking some hot coco, Corey would be so mad if she was drinking coffee so even here, even though they were no were around she still tried to behave, Looking up from the ground she caught sight of a male wearing not much in this cold weather” You just look silly is all” she said .”I think from rileys closet, but thats kind of far from here for you to get anything from her room” she said
