               to  say  she  hadn’t  been  expecting  it  would  be an  understatement,  in  all honesty  she  hadn’t  even  considered  it  a  possibility. a  summer  spent  in  s t r e s s  of  what  letters  one  letter  would  bring  élodie  didn’t  anticipate  that  another  letter  would  hold  a  shiny  silver  badge.  she  didn’t  exactly  sing  and  shout  about  it,  indeed  she  forgot  to  wear  it  for  the  first  week.  finally  stumbling  into  the great  hall  one  morning  (  half asleep  ) still  affixing  the  ❛  quidditch captain  ❜  badge  to  her  robes. 

                              ❝  so…  what  d’ya  think?  ❞  she  asked  dragging  a  tangled  mess  of  hair  from  her  face.

      ❛     Always  livin’  up  to  the  last  name     ,     huh     ?     

                                                Everythings  either  business  or  pleasure       ,       but  I’m  thinkin’  we  passed  pleasure  a  long  time  ago     .                                                                    So  again                                             .  .  .     what  can  I  do  ya  for     ?      ❜

“Flirting?” oh dear Merlin…. he was Terriable in the flirting department. Flirtatious banter wasn’t something he did. Not even when he was with Lily. “I don’t do….. flirting.” It was a foriegn concept. “Does kissing have to be involved?”

leaning back in his chair, he looked at her with intrigue. Was that a smile gracing the Slytherin boy’s lips. It was a rare shit to behold on Severus Snape. “I don’t really know the rules of a fake relationship; seeing as I’ve only been in one and it was real.” This was an insane idea, but it could actually work. The two were close after all.

“I don’t know if Lily is the jealous type, Lu.” He told her truthfully before he rummaged through his notes for the answer to an assignment. “Besides. What poor soul would ever do that for me? I don’t know any girl or boy that would fake being my significant other…” he mumbled before his lips pursed together. “Unless. You?”

“and how do I do that?” He asked curiously. He had only been with one person; and that was Lily. Even when they broke up, she was all he wanted. He never attempted to move on.

“she’ll come back…” a glint of denial glimmered in dark hues. “I’ve loved her since the day I met her.. I just have to show her how much she means to me again.” He looked back to at his broken cauldron. “Perhaps I’ll hide out in the dorms this year…”

“If I said yes, you’d call me a liar.” He spoke softly. He knew Lucinda all too well, and honestly; she knew him well. It was an odd thing that he’d find friendship among his house. Her and Lucius seemed to be the only ones nice to him. “I can’t stop thinking about… her… and having to go home for Christmas… I’d much rather stay here…” not like there was much to go back to at Christmas. His parents didn’t care, much less get him anything. A nice new bruise perhaps?

“You must find it hilarious.” Voice cold as ice passed his lips. He dusted off the school robes; soot falling to the ground. Severus Snape had managed to mess up ingredients in a potion; causing an explosion that broke his cauldron in half. Looks like he will have to beg his mother for a new one; he doubted he’ll get one. He’d have to borrow one of Slughorn’s; a thought that made him groan.

“I’ve been thinking.” He started. “Perhaps I should join the Qudditch team. It’s my last year, might as well do something with it.” Maybe he could score more if he was on the team? It would help lessen the hounding of asking him to join. “Amos Diggory; Qudditch superstar. I suppose it’s got a certain ring to it.”

          ❛   —   don’t  be  too  OBVIOUS  about  it,  but  look  over  there,  by  the  tapestry  –  is  that  cat  professor  mcgonagall  ?  or  is  that  just  a  regular  cat  ?  merlin,  the  one  day  i  skip  her  class  …   ❜ 

          ❛   —   alright,  tell  you  what.   ❜   though  ted  was  speaking  quietly,  his  voice,  friendly  but  firm,  still  carried  through  the  abandoned  moonlit  halls  of  hogwarts.  abandoned,  that  is,  except  for  the  third  year  he’d  just  caught  cozying  up  with  a  cigarette  well  past  curfew.   ❛   —   if  you  head  straight  back  to  gryffindor  tower,  and  PROMISE  never  to  let  me  catch  you  with  one  of  these  again  –   ❜   he  shook  the  cigarette  pack  he’d  confiscated  from  the  younger  student.   ❛   —   i  won’t  take  any  points  from  gryffindor  or  tell  mcgonagall  what  you  were  up  to.  sound  FAIR  ?   ❜   the  third  year  hesitated,  looking  equal  parts  angry  and  grateful,  then  reluctantly  grasped  ted’s  outstretched  hand  in  a  handshake.   ❛   —   great.  now  s c a t.  and  remember  …   ❜   ted  paused,  tilting  his  head   ever  so  slightly  down  at  her  and  allowing  the  silence  to  stretch  out  unbroken  for  a  few  more  seconds.   ❛   —   never  break  a  promise  with  a  slytherin.  we  don’t  take  kindly  to  liars.   ❜   he  watched  her  eyes  widen  before  she  scampered  off  into  the  darkness,  and  bit  back  a  laugh.  gryffindors.  they  loved  their  ghost  stories.  

          tapping  a  confiscated  cigarette  from  the  box  into  the  palm  of  his  hand,  he  balanced  it  between  his  lips  and  had  just  lit  the  end  with  his  wand  when  he  caught  a  flash  of  movement  out  of  the  corner  of  his  eye.  he  glanced  over  at  the  intruder  with  a  cocked  brow,  allowing  himself  an  indulgent  drag  from  the  cigarette  before  he  spoke  again.   ❛   —   and  what’s  YOUR  excuse  ?   ❜

                    ❛      I  DO     .  .  .     so  why  do  I  keep  bringing  it  up     ?       ❜     She  stood  up  from  the  couch     ,     waltzing  over  to  a  plate  of  cookies  she  had  CONFISCATED  from  the  kitchen      .       ❛     Clearly  I’m  a  glutton  for  punishment               damn  these  are  good      .      Want  one     ?      ❜
