Literally started crying last night thinking about an Orufrey fanfic concept that just appeared in my head because omg Qifrey's situation is actually so heartbreaking So the concept was Olruggio and Qifrey leave the atelier one night to like chit chat outside and look at the stars together and during the conversation they end up admitting to their romantic feelings for one another and ofc this is like a euphoric experience so what happens? The Silverwood seed starts growing rapidly. But bc Qifrey always erased Olly's memory every time he found out about the seed, Olly has no idea what's happening and ends up screaming at Qifrey to explain what's going on because why the fuck is he a tree now. But Qifrey just smiles at him with tears in his eyes because he has no intention of erasing Olruggio's memory now, not after they've finally admitted their feelings to each other, not when he'd have to go back to a world where they hide their feelings cuz if the confession happened again, the seed would just start growing again. And so Olruggio is sobbing, reaching through the branches to hold Qifrey who has accepted that he's gonna die this time. The girls eventually wake up because of all the noise Olruggio's making and the four of them rush over trying to figure out what's happening. Coco is the only one who actually knows what's going on after what happened with Coustas and once she sees those tree branches her heart skips a beat and she runs back to her room to get her pen and paper to draw the memory erasing spell. Now I doubt that they're teaching the apprentices such dangerous spells, so I don't think Coco would have it memorized plus she'd be sobbing so there is no way she'd draw that spell correctly and Qifrey would be gently insisting that he's accepted his fate and Coco shouldn't try to draw the spell. So in the end she admits defeat and puts down the pen. In the end, the six of them sit together and tell stories and share memories until the tree kills Qifrey. And Qifrey's last words are him telling Coco to tell everyone the truth about the seed.
