-Rahikainen……… Just Rahikainen. I love what the director did here.

-Poor Hietanen’s face next to Rokka :D I love how everyone laughs at Rokka’s antics, it makes it so clear how young the characters are.

-And I love how Rokka is shown as forceful, that works well for a modern audience that is not familiar with the strict hierarchies of the time. 

-Rokka’s wife looks too young. The scenes with her and Rokka are cute, but she looks too young. She’s a farmer’s wife, and during this time period she would have aged even faster due to working.

-Hietanen doesn’t die a virgin. On one hand this is very cute, pure fanservice. On the other hand, the kiss was enough to convey the feelings of young love from the book. 

-Lotta has outstayed her welcome. Talking to another fan made me realize there were no older Lottas. Lotta is apparently supposed to be working three different jobs in a short period of time, and this is not an allegory for Lotta. If director wants Lottas, please make another series about Lotta, I would love to watch. (I wonder if this is where the inspiration for the Lotta Svärd comic came from.)

-They’re so handsome in their long coats.

-There are two guys walking ahead to cut up the snow for the officers, lol. Small detail that brings a lot of relatable realism to the story.

-Mirroring the condemned with Rokka and Tassu is a great move, really puts into perspective Rokka’s distaste for authority.

-The party scene!!!!

-It’s smaller and more understated than the 1980’s film. Which makes sense, it doesn’t need to be the ‘big character breaker’ since we’ve already seen the boys make fun in other scenes. 

-Koskela smiles! Koskela is so pretty when he smiles. It’s like the sun.

-The officers smiling and even smiling when Koskela is being taken away, very ‘humane’ if that makes sense.

-Love that the officers are shown as having revelry in their own, small, ordered way. Koskela making trouble is even more homo than the 1985 version.

-Awwww Rokka and Vanhala are so cute sitting together, not even in a couple way.

-Did the officer just refer to Hietanen/Koskela as a single unit :0

-That’s it, the officer ships it.

-Awww Koskela is so cute catching rats

-The trench! The trench is so cool! Very atmospheric thanks to the light and the men doing ‘normal’ things. Best parts of 1955, but updated for moving cameras.

-Hauhia is very good at the ‘misplaced youth’ look, well-cast role.

-The Christmas scenes at home really drive home how important leave is to Rokka.

-Rakasta näitä kotikuvia, ne ovat hyvin suhteellisia maaseudulla asuville ja sellaisille taloille. 

-ROKKA SISÄÄN. Ylistys. 

-Susi änkyttää, awww. Ymmärrän miksi nämä kaksi nähdään parina. Heidän ystävyytensä on erittäin suloinen. -Mies, joka pelaa Rokkaa, on niin hyvä. Niin hyvä näyttelijä. Halusin selkeästi pelata todellista suomalaista sankaria. 

-Rokka The Musical: DDDD

-Lehdon pieni taputus Riitaojan selkään ... Hän on kuin lapsi, joka ei osaa olla ystävällinen. Sydämeni. Ymmärrän miksi ihmiset yhdistävät heidät. -Säiliöt!!!!!!! -Laukaukset ovat paljon vähemmän selkeitä kuin vuonna 1955, säiliöt näyttävät enemmän kuin he liikkuvat todellisen metsän läpi eivätkä vain kuvata hyvältä. Molemmat toimivat, mutta tämä on luonnollisempaa. -Joo suosikkini otti säiliön! Jännitys ja nopea keskittyminen paljastavat paljon kirjan kohtauksen tarkoituksen. -Pommitetun kylän tutkiminen muistuttaa minua tekemästä samaa airsoftin aikana pelatessani ensimmäistä maailmansotaa. Näyttelijät ovat onneksi erittäin hyviä, muuten tämä tunne olisi kuvattu LARP. -Lotta! Lisää Lotta! Rakastan sitä, miten tarina näyttää heidät sellaisina kuin miehet näkisivät heidät, upseerin käsivarsilla tai poissa taistelusta tai sairaanhoitajina. 

-Rakasta humalan juhlaa, jonka vastakohtana on siisti paraati, jota vain upseerit katsovat. 

-Kiusasiko se vain Hietanen/Rahikainen !? 

-Hietasen roolissa oleva näyttelijä on tuskin siinä vaiheessa, että hän on liian vanha rooliinsa. Mutta hän on erittäin hyvä saamaan "hämmentyneen hyvän pojan" esille, joten hän on edelleen hyvä. -Rakasta, miten tämä sopeutuminen todella koskee "Emme todellakaan halua sinua tänne, mutta olet valloittava armeija, joten emme voi sanoa ei" epämukavuutta kohtauksessa Veran kanssa. -OMG VERA. -Kun hän suuteli häntä, se toimii hyvin 

-Se ei ole yhtä huolestuttava ja surullinen kuin alkuperäinen, tehokkaampi näytöllä. -Sulaan siitä, kuinka söpö tämä on. 

-Kaikki näyttelevät hyvin hahmojen ikäisenä, mikä toimii erittäin hyvin. Pienet yksityiskohdat, kuten Karilouton hiukset kammattuna vedellä, Rahikainen varastaa naisten alusvaatteita, tapa, jolla kaikki suhtautuvat lähtöön. Hyvin paljon "todellisia nuoria miehiä", jotka herättävät kotiin luonteen. -Koskela on super söpö. 

-Ihanaa, että tämä sopeutuminen on "jännitystä" taistelukohtauksissa, mutta säästää todella kauhistuttavaa tavaraa hetkiin, jolloin se on todella kauhistuttavaa sotilaille, kun he eivät odota sitä. 

-Riitaojan vikojen pelko välittää erittäin hyvin levottomuutta taistelussa. Rakasta kuinka naturalistista ja hillittyä kaikki on, superpuomipuomin puuttuminen ja hiljaiset taistelukohtaukset helpottavat ajatusta, että se tapahtuu suomalaisessa metsässä eikä kaukaisessa elokuvamaassa.
