tUnE-yArDs preview at ACL
New England native Merrill Garbus first stunned audiences with her innovative drum loops and staticky vocals as tUnE-yArDs in 2009 after the release of her first debut album, BiRd-BrAiNs. Five years and three albums later, Garbusâ electric sound has earned tUnE-yArDs worldwide recognition and collaborations with the likes of Questlove and Yoko Ono. Lucky for us at The Arcade, this experimental pop goddess will grace the folks of Austin City Limits at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the RetailMeNot Stage. Garbus joined forces with Nate Brenner and his bass, synths and vocals to release tUnE-yArDsâ third full-length album, Nikki Nack, this past May, just after setting off on tour with indie legends Arcade Fire. The album features thirteen tracks of experimental indie pop, which Rolling Stone awarded four stars. If you havenât seen tUnE-yArDs live yet, youâre in for quite the show. Garbusâ stage presence, like her voice and drum beats, is magnetic.
