The Taiga Clans: Reborn

Erminepaw had always been a bundle of energy and joy, despite his grouchy mentor, Emberstorm. He simply has a natural talent for appearing charming, seeing as he had endeared himself to his mentor, Spiderstar, and many other cats besides - such as the sweet Cherrycloud.

However, he was also a cocky apprentice, which was ultimately his downfall. One leaf-fall, a wolverine was scented within Spruceclan territory, and the clan was ordered to stay in camp until Spiderstar deemed it safe. The impatient young tom snuck out anyway to hunt, only to be caught by a fox that must’ve been trailing the larger predator, being thoroughly scarred. Fortunately, his brother Palewhisker had followed Erminepaw’s scent - but was gravely injured fighting the fox off alone. Palewhisker managed to get him back to camp, but ultimately died of his wounds, leaving Erminepaw disfigured and guilt-ridden.

At the dying wish of her parents, Spiderstar, once Spiderheart, pushed herself hard for the spot of deputy and was soon rewarded when the previous deputy retired and Spiderheart was made the new deputy of Spruceclan.

Because of her own self disciplined childhood, she rules with an iron fist and will not tolerate misbehavior from her warriors. 

For this reason, she despises Greystar, deeming her too meek and a pushover and only makes a small attempt to hide this contempt at gatherings.

Back when she was named Greyfeather, Greystar was exceptional among her clan for her workaholic nature. Naturally clever, compassionate, and eager to help the clan, after the unfortunate death of the previous deputy, the leader thought she would be a natural choice. And at first, that seemed entirely right. However, no-one seemed to notice that Greyfeather was floundering under the newfound responsibilities. She didn’t have time to adjust or back out, as the leader was already on their final life, dying to greencough as the old cat could no longer fight it off - leaving her quite suddenly the new leader.

Always a charismatic cat, Jasper used his wit and charm to quickly earn the previous Gods’ Chosen’s favor. Seems, she wasn’t the only one enthralled, and it wasn’t long until he was picked to be the next Gods’ Chosen.

Though his loyalty to the tribe was strong and true, his own personal gain had always been his favorite factor in life, and he enjoyed the looks of admiration, and even lust, he’d get from the males and females. He could feel them happily resting in the palm of his paw, and knew he had their loyalty.

Knowing that his Gods’ Chosen was growing weak with her growing age, he lead her away from the group under the guise of a peaceful walk through the valley, killing her once he was sure they were alone. However, he earned himself blindness in one eye, with a scar to match. 

Running back to the tribe, he alerted them of a group of rogues coming to attack, claiming they’d killed their previous leader despite his efforts to defend her.

The tribe acknowledged his warning and new status, and quickly fled.

He now leads with deceit, manipulation, and “favors.” 

Daughter of Honeyfang and Firewhisker and half sister to Cherrycloud, Stonekit, Petalstorm, and Sandpelt.

Being the first of Honeyfang’s kits, Mapleclaw took the brunt of Honeyfang’s abuse and neglect. Casting her aside one moment, only to give her the world the next. Rinse and repeat. It wasn’t until she was given her mentor, Lilyfoot, that she felt truly loved.

An accidental murder of Lilyfoot caused a young Maplepaw to unleash her rage on the battlefield, and earned her her warrior name.

Soon, her sister, Cherrycloud, had been born. Mapleclaw refused to let her live the same way she had, and raised her almost alone.

She had forced Honeyfang to leave Flurryclan after Cherrycloud was made a warrior, but, Mapleclaw wasn’t expecting her mother to have even more kits - kits she couldn’t protect in an entirely different clan.

Compared to his sister, Sandpelt has a far more melancholy, sardonic view of their situation. His sister’s bullying does little to build up his confidence, though she occasionally feels the sting of his retorts just like everyone else in the clan. His only real friend is the tiny Crowpaw. Alone, they are oddities. Together, they are... still oddities, but their combined intelligence is deceptively dangerous.

Spruceclan wasn’t happy about having Honeyfang in the clan, however briefly, with the poor reputation preceding her, not to mention picking a fight with one of their elders, Martenclaw. If she weren’t pregnant with a litter at the time, Spiderstar would’ve kicked her out on the spot. But even if they disliked the mother, they refused to leave young kits to fend without a clan with the bitter winter closing in. She gave birth to three kits; Stonekit, Sandkit, and Petalkit, refusing to name their father. Honeyfang was never a good mother, a fact their half-sister Mapleclaw could attest to. However, when the kits were weaned and the clan could finally be rid of Honeyfang, her kittens were still shocked and appalled to be left without any parents.

Less than a month later, news came back from a particularly hectic gathering that Honeyfang had been murdered while still on clan territory. 

Few in Spruceclan seemed happy about keeping them, and the kits knew it. The winter blizzards claimed the life of Stonekit, leaving only the brother and sister. The situation did little for their development - bickering and snapping at each other, driving away the only other family they had. Or at least, that was the case for one of them. Petalkit was wild and rebellious, even so young, and once, when the blizzards ceased, she snuck out, happening across a cat who would shape the rest of her life. Mapleclaw. The exiled, reviled killer of Honeyfang.

Mapleclaw seemed to take pity on her half-sibling, spending hours with the lonely kit, playing with her, making her happier than she had been in forever. Eventually she had to go home, though Petalkit swore she would return again. Across the moons, she stole visits to her sister that make clan life easier to bear, up to her apprenticeship, her mentor being the temperamental Emberstorm.
