"i  am,"  he  answers  with  a  laugh,  lips  brushing  against  reno's.  he  wants  to  kiss  him,  desperately,  but  knows  that,  in  this  moment,  reno's  the  one  in  charge.  "i  am  so  .  .  .  totally  paying  attention.  but,  y'know,  can  you  say  it  one  more  time?  just  in  case  you  weren't  paying  attention?"  the  corners  of  his  mouth  are  curved  with  a  shit-eating  grin,  knowing  full  well  he's  going  to  get  called  out  again.  but  can  he  be  blamed?  look  at  reno.

"ya sure about that?" he questions, lips brushing with every spoken word. casper is so close, too close, & it's taking everything the redhead has not to give in, tension rising. of course, instead of backing down, reno grabs hold of casper's hands & moves them to rest low against his hips.

"thank  you,  mon  lapin,"  casper  says,  crouching  down  to  hold  his  hands  out  to  help  steady  axel  and  the  gift,  brows  rising  with  surprise.  "is  this  for  me?"

axel continued to babble, excited, telling casper all about the trip to find the perfect gift, the way he & mama argued about details for it; anything & everything he could remember, he shared. it's only when he's snugly settled on his papa's lap that he offers the envelope to him, a card that was a simple family portrait with (an adorably) misspelled greeting. "this first! then you can open!"

"how do you know i can match you if we've never actually sparred before now?" he questions, tone as deadpanned as the expression on his face. she has him pinned, yes, quite quickly from the start, though he hasn't forcefully tried to push her off. yet. "no, spoiling you is baking you whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. this isn't spoiling you."

resting her cheek along the edge of her palm, a soft hum takes place. " no news at all? surely there's something going on .. its been sometime since i last visited, ne? " what feels like lightyears of time passing by in a blink of an eye and suddenly the twins are taller than she'd last seen them. no longer were they the small, playful children she'd come to know. now, they were teenagers and teens keep secrets to themselves. why would he want to pester his aunt with the details of his life? hinata's gaze remains focused; her smile stretching while she further teases him. " no new friends? new hobbies? .. a special someone, maybe? "

"i suppose . . . there's someone new. well, no, he's not new new, but . . ." he trails off, head canting slightly. "did either of my parents tell you of the alliance with the xianzhou luofu?"

" —eh?! y-you mean hound.. ? " although she may only be teasing the easily flustered heiress, the redness on her face speaks for itself. is it plain as day to see from her point of view or is she simply guessing just to poke fun? falling back on the edge of the bed, hinata presses both palms against her heated face before blowing out a quiet sigh; her hands then falling into her lap. " its .. complicated, i suppose. " while she hadn't known for sure what to make of her feelings, or even his. yet, even she knew her heart could not lie &shelf away what she's already developed for him. " one sided, maybe. so .. " trailing off, the flush remains stained on her face. " .. ne. your .. puppy-crush. may i ask why .. it didn't work out? "

green  hues  meet  reno's,  the  corners  of  his  mouth  curving  upward  with  a  grin.  "i  was  lookin'  at  somethin'."  casper  is  irrevocably  wrapped  around  reno's  finger,  swooning  as  he  lets  out  a  breathless  chuckle.  gaze  drops  to  his  lips,  then  his  exposed  chest  before  shooting  back  up  to  his  eyes.  "what  were  you  sayin',  red?"

"you'd know if ya were payin' attention to me." his gaze is locked onto cas' eyes, knows exactly what his attention was taken by. he can't even pretend to be upset, leaning in until their lips were barely touching. "yer not even payin' attention now."

"yeah,  'm  lookin'  at  ya."  he  is  not  looking  at  his  eyes.

there's a smirk as he reaches out, one finger curled against casper's chin as he tilts his head up, raising an indulgent brow as soon as their eyes meet. "ya sure bout that?"

"oh.  right."  it  wasn't  that  he  forgot  he  was  in  charge  of  the  gang  now,  but  he'd  spent  so  long  as  vesper's  right  hand,  that  it  was  hard  to  not  call  him  the  boss.  "you've  never  spent  this  much  time  with  others  who'd  been  injured,"  he  says,  resting  a  hand  against  his  hip.  "you  know  who  else  was  spending  a  lot  of  time  with  a  single  patient?  your  brother.  and  who  is  he  dating  now?"

"it's okay, boss will always be boss. you're just boss now too." even if most of the time, the title 'boss' was still meant for vesper within their inner circle. "& no, kai didn't spend that much time with him! he was hardly in the med wing so you can't use him for a comparison."
