glass half full

Gone, gone—- the moments had passed by ( slowly, yet not painfully ), and the road ahead had only urged his feet to move along. How could it have been painful; his heart bled with the love that had filled it over the past year ( how long had it been exactly... ), and his mind constantly gone back to the one who caused these feelings. 

‘ Come back, ’ 

His soul called—- no response. 

Where did you go? The search for truth and ideals were never over—- but what use was a lonely journey in search of what remains unanswered. 

               traveler gripped by something of an acquired wanderlust , blessed boy  &  calamity child  —  two halves of a whole forming one tired , lonely being , ghosting his way throughout life with tragedy piling at his feet in the shape of blood  &  corpses ; dearest friend helps of course , charming creature , faithful friend , following close at heels with intent to keep both boy  &  unknowing citizens safe from merciless cycle.  to succeed is not always promised in the act of trying however and sometimes …  better just to stray , to flee to forests  &  caverns , sleep amidst nature where he is less likely to bring harm to any but squirrels and pokemon too curious for their own good.  unfortunate in its own right , of course , but …  better them than fellow humans , he supposes. 

               however , it would appear luck is not on his side tonight  —  of course someone would stray from city lights , the chirping of quiet town crickets , find their way out here and that would not be a problem , that would be perfectly fine  —  if not for him , unwilling wolf , and he is not one to scream nor yell but voice does raise with a startled , well intentioned :  ‘ HEY  —  ! ’  hand outstretched in vain attempt at somehow stopping tree’s fall , at somehow preventing disaster from striking down stranger  &  thank god for his companion , so much faster  &  stronger than he.  it’s a blur , she’s a blur , racing forth with a loud howl in a flash of white  &  grey ; her body impacts , tackles boy to the ground and there is a loud crash as tree hits the ground , the earth shaking beneath it  —  then it is still , silent. feet move forward , watching absol’s head lift and familiar eyes look toward him as if to confirm they are okay , some sense of relief flooding his chest. 

                ❛  — h-hey , are you okay ?  even if the tree missed you …  hitting the ground like that must’ve hurt , right ?  ❜

   HEAVY sky appeared ready to collapse down upon the earth; explosions of thunder echoing in his mind, and he assumes his fate sealed. 

A smile from nature unseen as darkness embraces closed eyes; over, done ( waiting... )—- until an unknown force crashes into him, tackling him to the ground, further from a doom he had readily accepted. Eyes forced open ( it’s okay ), anxiously searching ( —-somehow okay ) before settling upon a Pokémon that he had only heard tales of. Trembling limbs prevent him from immediately rising to his feet; instinct only driving him to show a thankful hand to the creature that had saved him. However, it’s an unfamiliar voice laced with concern that grasps his attention ( so much had happened in such a short amount of time, he hadn’t noticed the trainer until he spoke ), shock carried upon his features, and a gentle grin quickly tugging at his lips. 

❝ I-I’m okay! Thanks to you. ❞ He’s sure there are ( at the very least ) a few scrapes and bruises. Nothing too serious. ❝ —-This is your Absol, isn’t it? ❞ It’s not until brown eyes settle upon the creature once more that a sudden gasp escapes the depths of his throat; a quick jump to his feet, ( brief ) struggle to regain his balance, and nimble fingers slide against the capsules secured to his belt. ( three... four... five ) All accounted for, and his relief is easily read.

LUDICROUS —- no, outrageous, the very idea of forcing two separate Pokémon into one sent chills running the trainer’s spine. ( unreal, there’s no way... ) Wary eyes wander; and he hopes—- hopes that he wouldn’t stumble upon any such trauma occurring among Unova’s legends. 

Corrupt eyes pierce his soul: green hair, dark cloak. Ghetsis. Even the thought of him brought upon an uneasy feeling. Yet ( he knew ) if anyone had been up to dna splicing it would be the leader of Plasma himself. Lightning strikes; a wandering mind forced back to reality, the darkness of the night refusing comfort, a cry following the boom that lingered. ( he knows this cry ) The anxiety that filled him settled itself—- a brave face thus forced unto his features ( if not him, then who ? ), and worn heels move forward the source. 

he also had a tendency to run off without warning; this being the cause of his interest in the type. when he was younger, touya had run off in the middle of the night ( something was calling to him, he’d tell people when questioned ). what was calling him turned out to be a yamask ( a ghost type that was said to be the wandering remains of a passed human ), and as a curious child, he had wasted no time in approaching the unfamiliar pokémon. 

it had a lonely nature, he recalled, evident from its tears and yearning for company. touya had been the one to answer those calls ( a mistake ? ), and yamask quickly warmed up to a young touya. it wasn’t lonely anymore, the young boy could easily read, and when the pokémon attempted to draw him further away from home, he was more than eager to follow. a wary lillipup however, chased the yamask off, saving touya from whatever fate, and leading him back to a worried mother. no matter the backlash of those who heard the story, touya insisted the yamask intended no harm and was merely lonely. 

tracing his memory, his mother had always been present: a supportive parent figure in his life—- always there for him, and always supported him in chasing his dreams. her constant love and support constantly lifted touya in spirits, and he hadn’t ever questioned his father until meeting bianca’s father ( his protective qualities over his daughter began to make touya wonder about his missing father ).

SAMUROTT ♂ ( mijiko ) - water, lvl. 87, gentle nature, torrent ability 

mijiko was touya’s first pokémon ( as well as his only pokémon consistent pokémon for a majority of his journey ). mijiko and touya are very close; the two having gone through a lot together since the trainer left nuvema town ( mijiko defending touya as a trainer since the beginning, and the two protecting one another through the various trials they encountered ). picking mijiko as an oshawott wasn’t a decision he put too much thought into —- bianca pressured him into going first, and he picked the pokêmon based on the fact his blue coloring matched the color of his clothes. being a gentle nature, mijiko is typically mellow and quiet; however, being loyal to his trainer and teammates can make him a formidable opponent.

BRAVIARY ♂ ( bonko ) -  normal / flying, lvl. 80, adamant nature, defiant ability

encountered by chance, touya found the pokêmon as a weakened rufflet that had been abandoned by it’s trainer a few days before. without hesitation, touya treated bonko, and later made it apart of his team. showing genuine kindness, braviary learned to trust humans once again and is nothing but loyal to touya and his teammates. bonko is noticeably smaller than others of his species, however he has learned ( with touya’s help ) to use his small size to his advantage.

GALVANTULA ♂ ( uruko ) - bug / electric, lvl. 78, timid nature, compound eyes ability

( although touya would never admit it ) uruko caught touya off guard as a joltik in the chargestone cave; scaring both him and the spider. making the pokémon apart of his team, touya quickly found out that the small pokémon liked to hide under his hat —- something he didn’t mind at all until he evolved ( making him significantly bigger in size ); not realizing his own size however, the pokêmon still attempts to crawl beneath his trainers cap from time to time.

SAWSBUCK ♀ ( ikako ) - normal / grass, lvl. 77, lonely nature, sap sipper ability 

touya caught the pokémon as a deerling out of curiosity. having heard about it’s adaptability, he decided that he had to see it for himself. the pokémon ( luckily enough ) seemed to be just as curious about touya —- thus allowing herself to be captured, and travel the region. she is quieter than the rest of touya’s team, preferring to be by herself or only with touya rather than being amongst all of them at once ( not that she is opposed to it ).

CHANDELURE ♂ ( moshiko ) - ghost / fire, lvl. 75, modest nature, flash fire ability

as a child, touya had always been interested in ghost pokêmon ( he had always encouraged ghost stories during late night get togethers with his friends ). running into a ghost type pokêmon had almost felt like something that was only waiting to happen ( fate, almost ). although it proved to be a tedious task, it wasn’t long until touya had a litwick to call his own. it wasn’t long until the pokêmon took a liking to touya. touya hadn’t been to adamant on evolving him once he had evolved into lampent ( he didn’t even have a dusk stone to be remotely excited about the idea ); however, it was moshiko who had accidentally evolved himself by stumbling upon and playing with a dusk stone he had found —- much to touya’s surprise, and later joy.
