This loss has hit me so hard, as if I lost a part of me. I became a fan of Santana the day Glee started, but it grew when her storyline turned into the first representation of a lesbian character I’ve ever seen. Then, it turned into a big love for Naya Rivera as a person. Back then, watching interviews and finding out she fought for that lesbian storyline I loved so deeply, made me appreciate it so much more. Mainstream TV and fandoms grew and I grew with them. Suddenly, I became part of a family online and met people through our love for the show. My blog is called “Say You Love Me Back” a line from Santana, I had her poster on my wall, I saw Glee Live in concert with my sisters, and I cherished every moment she was on my TV or when her songs were blasting in my room (hers were always my favorite glee songs & of course, her single, Sorry). I don’t think I’d be the person I am today without that story and without her love of fans. I haven’t ever stopped following and loving her since; always waiting for more music and hopes one day Glee would have some kind of TV reunion. 11 years of being part of my life, so I guess it makes sense to feel a part of me gone. I’ve been reading so many posts by fans that feel the same way. I see posts of her silly interviews and amazing musical numbers and feel a deep sadness, but also joy that her life brought so much to me and others. I know that joy she brought will live on forever❤️

The news of Naya Rivera’s passing still doesn’t feel real. I remember watching the first season of Glee and thinking, wow, I wish they featured her character Santana Lopez more. Well, I got my wish. In the second season Naya Rivera became a series regular. Not only was Naya a fantastic actress - Santana Lopez had the best lines and could always put Rachel Berry in her place - she was also an amazing singer and in my humblest opinion, she, along with Amber Riley, Darren Criss and Kevin McHale, was one of the best singers on the show. Naya will truly be missed. Thank you for sharing your immense talent with us.
