I love Simon's relationships with his female friends: Agatha (who even mentions growing up with Simon like a younger brother in WS) Penny (obvs, she probably taught him to never manspread) Helen and Ebb.

So I wanted draw him hanging out and having a nice magicless self care day with Agatha and her Normal gal pal Minty.

All of the comics are going to be pure fluff and humour cause that's all I wanna draw for these guys

Season 1 Episode 7

Cal and Jules are in her room, hiding from MAAMS. After Margot leaves, Cal and Jules discuss the hunters plans that laid out the attack on the night of Jules' coming of age ceremony.

Cal states they still don't know how to kill legacies and Jules has this look on her face, like she knows exactly what can kill legacies. Jules then asks Cal if her heart is safe with her. I don't think she meant safe from a stake in the heart. I think she meant emotionally, spiritually. Jules already knows Cal will figure it out eventually. When she does, Jules will have no protection.

So, how do you kill a legacy? With love.

Think back to Margot with Sebastian who was barely hanging on to life. She said, where you go I go. Meaning if he died, so would she. She meant that literally.

It would also explain why legacies are so concerned with making political matches for power and prestige, since love would be their Achilles heel. Why open yourself to be vulnerable?

"Is my heart safe with you?" Jules knows Cal can kill her because she is hopelessly in love with her, heart and soul. Cal does not grasp the depth of this statement or Jules' feelings for her.

I think this concept will tie back to the only hunter to ha e ever killed a legacy. I think in the past a hunter and legacy fell in love. They killed the hunter and in so doing, killed the legacy. I think the guild then did some propaganda spinning to hide the truth of that.

We get hints through out the show, Margot and Sebastian. Jules and Cal. Even Oliver and Carmen. Oliver states, "Why does anyone do anything? For love." Elinor also does everything she can to remove emotional attachments from her life (I mean, she's psycho but that's another story).

One could say it's just the Shakespeare influence on the show but I don't think that's all there is to it.

I hope this show gets renewed because it has so much potential.

“would she rather her brother be dead?” theo dying obviously devastated cal and would’ve devastated the whole family but at least they would’ve been a unit, now cal has to live w her own father wanting to kill her brother and the Guild not only hunting theo but possibly her mother for letting him go

on top of that cal has already stated that when it came down to choose btwn her family and juliette she picked her family, but you’re surprised that she’s upset that her family has basically imploded?

Which sort of brings me to my main point, which is how scary it is that Jack and the rest of the guild don’t see vampires as people at all. And while I love that this show doesn’t use homophobia or racism as a plot point, I think this sort of speaks to it in an interesting way. Without really investigating how the legacy vampires live or what crimes they’re actually committing, they have already labeled them as monsters that don’t deserve a trial. And the way Jack turned on his own son so quickly to the point where he was ready to kill him was like a very scary thing to watch. There’s people who would do the equivalent of that to their kids when they come out. It’s similar to how they did the severing ceremony for Cal after finding out about the bite, it’s like sort of like when people send their kids to conversion therapy hoping they can “fix” them.

yes, those stories are important in their own way, but i can promise that every single young queer girl is aware of the stress of coming out, the hate that may await them in the world, the possible distaste from friends and family. they don’t need to see it on their tv all the time too

what they DO need to see is elinor teasing juliette “you like her/you want her” and dropping female pronouns without a second glance, to see juliette’s bottle spin landing on cal and their classmates not batting an eye, to see talia telling cal she’s not allowed to have her door closed with a girl over no different than she might if it were a boy, to see the full spectrum of a sapphic teenage relationship, not something that’s either completely over-sexualized or something that’s almost sterile in the way it barely lets the two characters touch lips for more than 2 seconds at a time. they get to see juliette pining over a girl at school without a subplot about something related to being outed or made fun of, they get to see her talking to her best friend about girls without worrying someone will overhear, see margot joking with talia about their young love.
