HEYYY . Happy Juneteenth everybody! This is a combined Pride and Juneteenth post. I personally HC Queen Essence as bisexual and King Quincy as Pansexual. I mostly used these two to celebrate Juneteenth as Funk Trolls are, well, funk, and Funk originated from African American communities. Plus, with their hairstyles and the messaging of World Tour, it's safe to say they definitely aren't intended to be white. I think, out of the 3 Trolls Movies-- HOT TAKE, I actually love World Tour's messaging and story the most. (The music isn't as good and I don't think the songs represent the genres as well as they should, outside of rock and pop, but everything else is pretty great!) like. i know they're movies for kids, and i love band together as much as the next guy as the music is stellar, but can we admit the messaging of trolls 1 and trolls 3 are like, incredibly flawed and don't give the right message to kids or people in general?? that's not the purpose of this post, though, so i'm gonna save that for another time (or another post in regards to trolls fanart, depends.) NOW for the main focus of the post: I chose to draw these two as it's Juneteenth, today, for American peers. I discussed this a little bit on my other post, because unfortunately TADC Ep 9 falls on Juneteenth, coincidentally, which means a huge chunk of fans from there are just going to..yk. Forget. about it. Again, as stated on previous, if you don't know what Juneteenth is, it's a federal holiday that celebrates the ending of Slavery in the United States. While it wasn't what established voting rights, or equal rights in general, it was one big step that helped contribute to the change that was to come in our country. It's incredibly important to acknowledge, learn more, and spread the word about Juneteenth and other important events in U.S. history in regards to marginalized groups as a whole. This country's political and cultural climate is toxic more than ever, and lately it's felt as though we've taken more steps back than we have forward. We need to remember our roots, our origins, WHY these changes happened, why they're important. If we forget, we fall victim to the very mindsets that allowed these steps backs to occur in the first place. Please remember to share, uplift, and support people of color (primarily African Americans in regards to this holiday). Do not speak over them. I'm Puerto Rican, hence why I am not overly explaining the Holiday and instead am trying to give us all the opportunity to discuss, learn, and share information about the holiday and the steps we've taken as a society to ensure that we're all listened to and treated with respect. If anybody wants to share resources, PLEASE go ahead, both for me and for others who aren't fully educated on the holiday. Personally I've been using this reddit post to navigate and research (and see if there was anything i hadn't been taught before) and it's worked pretty well, is accurate to what I've remembered and read, and is relatively recent all things considered. I hope everybody has a happy Juneteenth, and a happy pride as well! Love y'all :)
