Lee had been brave, and calm. He hadn’t been afraid to challenge Clarisse, who was almost two feet taller than he was and the daughter of the god of war. He hadn’t been afraid to die, either. He should’ve been. Lauren was quiet, and reserved, but she always made time for her siblings. She had been quiet all of her life, but somehow the quiet of her delicately preserved body had felt wrong. Micheal had been tiny, and loud, and angry, all the time, but he was Will’s best friend. Micheal had been the one to tell Will that he had a new family now. People who wouldn’t flake, or ignore him. People who would never leave him. He had told him they they would all be there for him, no matter what. What a load of bullshit.   Grief presents itself in many ways. For Will, it comes in the form of photos. Takes place in between chapter 20 and 21 of How Icarus Fell From the Sun, and can be read on its own.

He’s Nico’s boyfriend, yes, but what about more??? Where’s his pov when half of his siblings died??? How did he feel when Percy came and told him that Michael got crushed under a bridge???

Why isn’t he missing his mom??? Why isn’t he more powerful now that he has discovered more of his powers?? Even if he’s a healer, healers still need to fight sometimes. What if he’s running to save an injured demigod and he gets cornered by 3 enemies??? What will he do then??

Where’s his personality??? He was absolutely brilliant in boo, being sassy, stubborn, but that was completely ignored in tsats

Thinking about how Will ignored it all and tried to save Lee, the blisters on his fingers rapidly growing and climbing up his arms in burns. Michael barely managed to remove him from the corpse; the burns were covering his shoulders, reaching for the heart.

Michael, the new head counselor and head medic, had to ban him from healer duties for months. The whole battle was a big hit on their cabin: Lee died, and some of their siblings, either afraid of repeating his fate or forced by their mortal families, had to leave. Even their older head healer, Noah, left for college.

Pollux, the only surviving child of Dionysus (not that there were many in the first place), was advocating for holding First Aid lessons for other cabins.

(When they found Castor's body and Pollux clutching him, they could hear whispers of regrets, remorse, 'sorry' for not being enough to help.)

Most of the demigods took First Aid lessons, carried by Apollo cabin. So, when one of them was down, the chances of saving the injured demigod would be higher than before.

Will participated in these lessons not as a teacher but as a volunteer. Even after finishing the class, Drew continued to change bandages on Will every day, often with Cecil and Nyssa.

The infirmary lost some of its healers, but it gathered more medics and volunteers, willing to help when the missions became regular.
