Man in the Shower in Beverly Hills (acrylic on canvas), David Hockney, 1964 — a sun‑washed moment where water, solitude, and California light dissolve into quiet abstraction.
David Hockney (1937–2026) On 11 June we lost an artist who taught us to see the world in colour, clarity, and quiet joy. From the sun‑drenched rooms of California to the rolling fields of Yorkshire, he revealed the luminous within the ordinary. His curiosity never dimmed, his line never wavered, his vision never ceased to widen ours. A life devoted to looking — and to helping us look more deeply. May his colours endure. †
