i'm so tired, everything i hear about maghni ai is so so disappointing. i never backed the project, it just really makes me so sad as someone who likes the engine noise it has a lot, is an engloid fan who wants classic engloids to survive in the new era, and really liked some new maghnis revealed as well. this is not a hate post.
i tried to be optimistic as old VBs got delays (i.e big al) and others engines took years to get finalized (i.e synthv), but when you don't even have a demo of aurum--who has been teased since 2016 and replace his VA way too late--knowing people have already payed for his VB, now w/o hearing his voice at ALL is very unprofessional. a demo is the bare minimum expectation, old VA's irl singing or the new VA's diffsinger aren't accurate example of what the product will be like, yes i also hated when that bandori VB did pre-orders w/o demos, it should obviously not be a thing in this industry.
that isn't even the most egregious examples of unprofessionalism + the silence/lack of transparency despite marketing themselves as social-media and fandom forward? hearing backers talk about receiving low effort and rushed digital goods (art books/concept art...which should be incredibly easy) is what really made me realize they are not serious to care for the community they've built, do they realize it's the community that built them? i doubt they will address this, i feel like they only address things when ppl talk about it on twitter, but there should at least be some consistent monthly progress reports/streams/Q&A/posts... literally anything.
i know an art book doesn't come across as serious, but one thing i noticed for years online in many different fandoms is having multiple issues that stack up overtime really kills projects, even if those issues could've been easily addressed early. hell, even cases where issues were publicly addressed, it still doesn't even work if not clear enough. anti-fans purposefully ignore it and stir up more drama, well meaning casual fans aren't chronically online and miss it, and dedicated fans get very unforgiving/strict. it's the same shit i've seen play out over and over. best thing in the long run is to clear up everything and be genuine even if it brings you more hate, but i noticed ppl in the vsynth scene are particularly prone to scapegoating rather than accountability.
it's ridiculously common. i've even seen one industry person bold faced LIE to (imo) manipulate new fans and avoid controversy, and i hate that it worked. i fucking hate that it would've worked on me if i didn't just so happen to be aware of a random detail of said lie. not saying maghni is as bad as them, but explaining why it's so hard to trust ppl in the scene.
that's why i really want consistent updates from them. really, their entire plan/CF was flawed day one and the timeline thing they gave is laughable now... it's strange, why rely on oliver, a very hyper-specific accented voice type to market your entire engine and neglect the pop/general-genre vocals. oliver is the fandom's and VT's fave but like you were there for the V2-V3 engloid era when everyone was muffled/soft + british and ppl wanted standard voice types first (the exact same critique on the hispanic side even). they already had big producer promo so i don't get the push for him. if oliver had an adult VB i wouldn't mind, but that's not the direction they wanted sadly. i love his adult derivative from the comics, and i think an adult male choral voice type would be better but whatever opinions ig. personally, i want to know when at least beta testing can be expected and them to address the CF stuff. apparently the comic wasn't even finished like they promised? can't they explain? why is so much basic shit still not being acknowledged?
ugh i'm so fucking pissed sorry for this dramatic long ass post that's incomprehensible to normal people. liking this niche within a niche is hard. watching companies and fandom repeat the same mistakes for over a decade and point fingers instead of learn is hard, and i suspect it could get way worse than old shit ever was in the future. it's hard to explain why w/o being a rumormonger tho, there's just so many red flags in public, u can imagine the behind the scenes. this part is biased so i kept it under the line... i want engloids to succeed man
