Evil Dead (2013) Triggers
Drug Addiction
Mia is taken to the cabin by her friends and brother, in order to go cold turkey from her drug addiction.
Kidnapping
While Mia goes to the cabin willingly, her friends and brother discuss the fact that even if she wants to, they will not let her leave. After the demons begin to attack her, Mia begs them to let her leave but they ignore her. Despite evidence of being attacked, the others continue to believe she’s just putting on a show in order to being taken away.
Later, when possessed, Mia is forced into a cellar and locked down there.
Car Accident
After the others refuse to let her leave, Mia takes the car herself. While driving she sees a demon and swerves the car off-road, crashing into a pond.
Rape/Sexual Assault
Mia is restrained by her arms and neck by several thorny branches. She sees a possessed version of herself spit out a black tangle of branches which crawl up her leg and penetrate her, then disappears inside of her.
While possessed Mia licks up the inside of Natalie’s leg, and forcibly kisses her while spewing black bile and blood all over her.
A possessed Mia states that the real Mia is currently being “raped in hell.”
Guns
A possessed Mia points a shotgun at her brother. She shoots, grazing his arm and shattering a window.
A gun is later used to shoot a can of gasoline, causing an explosion.
Immolation/Fire/Burning
A possessed daughter is burned at the stake by her father.
A cabin is blown up with people inside
A possessed Mia gets second and third degree burns in the shower, which is shown to be spraying boiling water
Blood and Gore/Violence
This movie is EXTREMELY graphic and bloody. Examples of violence not already described include
Nails from a nail gun being shot into someone’s face
Someone is graphically beaten with a hammer
Blood rains from the sky in buckets
Someone’s hand becomes trapped and they pull their arm away, separating it from the hand.
Someone is stabbed in the shoulder with a piece of glass
Someone is repeatedly hit over the head with a blunt object, until they are dead
There are many close up shots of wounds and injuries.
Someone licks a knife, slowly, slicing their tongue in half.
Self-Harm
Olivia takes a knife to her face, caving out her cheek to expose her teeth, while possessed.
When her arm and hand becomes possessed, Natalie takes an electric knife and cuts it off. It is extremely bloody and graphic.
While possessed, Mia is heard throwing herself around the basement in a violent manner.
Vomiting
Mia vomits on the ground when Eric first summons the demon
Later, when possessed, she vomits blood all over Olivia
After being burned in the shower, white foam leaks from Mia’s mouth
Needles
Olivia stabs Eric repeatedly with a needle while possessed, getting him in the face and all over his body. He must then pull the needle out from under his eye.
Animal death
Their dog is killed, presumably by a possessed Mia. There is a flash that shows her beating it to death with a hammer.
Body Horror
Natalie watches as her arm becomes rotten and decays, and she loses control over it
Death
There are several deaths in the movie
Mia is discussed as having been legally dead the last time she OD’d
Mia and David discuss the death of their mother, who died in a mental hospital. Their discussion of her is often frank and tragic, as they talk about her not being herself and being in pain in her last days.
Death is discussed as being the only way to “save“ someone from the curse.
