His only retort in response to his sister’s remark was an excessive roll of his eyes and a chiding gaze which was ruined by the warmth of the smile that spread across his lips as he turned to climb the stairs. ❝——Anytime, little sister.❞
The fact that Annabelle had not made any protests in regards to him moving her luggage to the guest room was proof enough that she didn’t mind staying with him for a while, after all. It filled his heart with a calming sense of relief; it had taken seeing his little sister again to realise just how much he missed their times together.
It didn’t take the sight of her to inform Victor of her reappearance; the walls carried her sounds all across the house. She had always had a talent for making her presence known through more elementary means; Victor, on the other hand, was quieter, as his sheer presence could shift and bend the gravity of the room. But in the end, they both made certain that their presence would be recognised.
❝——No, nothing of the sort-well, maybe just one tea cult gone wrong,❞ An arch of a golden eyebrow. ❝——But other than that, I’ve just been busy trying to keep Sherlock alive and out of trouble, which is frankly impossible.❞ Two sugars, no cream. Just the way he liked it. ❝——What about you? Any great discoveries? You’ve been travelling quite a lot these past few months.❞ If there was a hint of concern lying beneath his words, he managed to hide it well.
Cup is held up to her lips, the same eyes watching him with calm intent. This was nice. To not be on the go, to give herself time, to be with company she enjoyed. It was already calming. But she kept her smile, sipping quietly with a small chuckle and a recoil of her neck. ❝ Now that sounds JUICY. ❞
A small nod following at the sound of her brother keeping busy. ❝ Even better. You’re just having a blast, aren’t you? ❞ Nose scrunching and admiring his recent achievements. It was nice to hear Victor not so stressed out. He deserved a bit of fun. A lot of fun, actually.
The conversation turning on her made her shift uncomfortably, Anna pretending to be pre-occupied with sipping her tea to answer before giving a wave of her hand. ❝ Oh, yeah. Same old, same old. V’just been...takin’ pictures. Really not a whole lot. ❞ Lies. She was becoming detached. And it had scared her. Not herself and feeling out of mind. But that wasn’t anything time with your favorite family member could fix, was it? But why did she feel unwell?
❝ I did get you something, though. A present. But I’m not going to show you until I think you’ve deserved it. ❞ She stressed playfully, wagging a finger at him. Finishing her cup and holding it out, nose in the air and giving her best posh accent, ❝ Butler sir---another. Chop, chop. ❞ Even pumping her arm and giving a fake displeased frown, looking him up and down. ❝ Bring the biscuits while your at it. Honestly you act like I don’t pay you ! ❞
