Hematite didn’t like the Kindergarten as much as he liked the forest beyong its canyon walls. He had left that day for a brief trip to go and relax in the forest, since as of late the copious amounts of affection being shared by both his friend, Blue Lace Agate, and his fellow Metalloid, Gold, and their partners, got poor Hematite all jealous.

She was out and about, like always, jumping from tree to tree with that agility of hers. Tree Agate wasn’t exactly sure why, but she wa searching for something interesting. Perhaps something to do. Somewhere in the back of her figurative  mind, she wondered if she should pick up a hobby. Maybe clockmaking- perhaps even toymaking. However, when she spotted someone out of the corner of her eye, she seemed surprised and stopped.

She’d look over at the cookie cutters with wide eyes, attempting to look over them curiously with those freckled hands of hers. “Interesting. Any certain shapes we’ll be using, or just any of them?” She’d ask after a few moments of pause, looking back over at the other small Gem. Wow. She still couldn’t get over the fact she met them by nearly falling on them from a tree.

She didn’t move at first- she was thinking, thinking of what to say, cherry picking her words as only the best words, wanting to remain respectful of her leader but some part of her just wanting to scream and to agree with her. She was never like this- she was never like this, why was she like this now? “..T-thank you, ma’am..” She simply stated, standing up, trying her best to ignore the sudden backlash the kick and the scratch that White Diamond had caused. Without the emotion running through her, she was no longer so ignorant of the pain it caused.

She paused, not sure what to say. She wasn’t even sure if she should speak- but, she had been asked a direct question. She had to answer it. “Yes. I’d do anything just to keep doing my job- it was what I trained for most of my life.” The other most of her life she spent alone in a frozen wasteland, so she couldn’t exactly train for anything there.

“I.. don’t know..” She stated at first, glancing in the direction she had been running to then back towards White Diamond, green eyes wide. “Everything’s.. too confusion right now. I’ve never been like this.” She stated at first, shivering faintly at the reminder that she had just gotten angry- which had never happened before. “I.. understand. I think. No, I know. I shouldn’t doubt you.. sorry.”

Still crying, she just frowned for a moment, staring up at her leader with wide green eyes. She knew of no words to say, no meaningful things to do. The countless thoughts and echoes of six thousand years past haunted her, and at this very moment, reminded her of how simply lonely she was.

Standing up with her head pointed towards the ground to hide her face, she sniffled and finally spoke up again, her tone barely stable. “I.. I will..” She stated at first, adjusting her hair before looking up at her leader. “I’d really like t-that, to go home.” She simply stated, not finding the willpower to comment on the fact she couldn’t summon her weapon.

There are no answers that way.” She gestured to the direction Agate was running to. “I cannot promise you will like it on Homeworld, six thousand years have changed us and maybe not for the better.” She walked towards Agate and extended a pale, white hand. “Agate, I may act like a pompous, careless leader but the truth is I don’t want to admit I’ve been wrong.”

White continued to hold out her hand. “Do doubt me. I admit I have wronged you. You have been victim of my own laziness and forgetfulness.” She lowered her hand. “I wouldn’t dream of telling anyone else this. But you clearly wanted answers, nothing was going to top you till you found out. I respect that in a Gem, it means your not one of the mindless hordes of soldiers. Your an individual, someone to be looked up to by the lower ranks, someone who should have more.”
