One of the funniest things I find about Shirbert is Gilbert writes a note, seals it well, goes to Anne's room, and tenderly places it in place so she can find it quiet and intact. And Anne rips it into shreds. Just like Gilbert has had a crush on her since the beginning of time but she keeps stomping over his feelings.

Then Anne writes a letter, sends it no less than flying across in her haste of expressing her feelings, and it never even reaches Gilbert. Just like how it is at the very end that she realises her feelings and is never truly able to directly reach out to him.

Like if this doesn't define both of their personalities in their relationship then I don't know what does.

Hi! I was wondering if you could help me find a fic? I’m looking for this one shot that I’ve read a few times but forgot to bookmark. In it Anne and Gilbert are hanging out in her room on a hot summer day, and almost get caught by Marilla. One detail k remember is that while they’re talking Anne says that when she’s a teacher she’s going to stay in bed all morning in the summers and read, and then she basically says since Gilbert will have to work as a doctor anyways he’ll bring her coffee. The entire thing was adorable and if you could help me find it I’d be soooooo grateful

Did anyone else feel this way, or have I just lost my mind? There are moments I LOVED in Season 3 for Anne and Gilbert - and I was thrilled to see their relationship take center stage.

But part of me also feels that their chemistry was a little bit stronger in S1 and S2.

Of course -- I'll never be over this. 1980s Shirbert was the first OTP I remember, too.

Jyn and Cassian, Rogue One: oh, what might have been!

Jack and Aliena, Pillars of the Earth: Jack's soulful stares give me life.

Ross and Demelza, Poldark: their marriage is messy af, but it's also a love that's tested. Eleanor Tomlinson's Demelza is another spirited redhead.

Ephram and Amy, Everwood: I'm forever bitter that this show was canceled after 4 amazing seasons. But we got a perfect ending.

Jesse and Celine, the Before trilogy: Another longstanding, complex, compelling relationship

Max and Liz, Roswell: Otherworldly chemistry!

Nate and Elena, Uncharted video game series: Kudos to Naughty Dog for making characters and a couple I care about.

Merlin and Arthur: Technically, not a couple, but the real love and devotion on the show was between these two.

Anya and Dmitri: animated magic. Derek Klena and Christy Altomare were phenomenal in the Broadway show as well.

Honorable mentions: Mike and Eleven, Stranger Things; MJ and Peter (Tom Holland and Zendaya); and Katniss and Peeta, The Hunger Games.

I'm adding to my original OTPs list (above) with a 2021 entry: Ginny and Marcus from Netflix's Ginny and Georgia. Chemistry and a beautiful, intimate soulmate connection - this couple has it all in spades. Netflix burned me by canceling Anne with an E, and I don't trust the streaming service to not cancel Ginny and Georgia, now or in the future. But I ADORE Ginny and Marcus and will just hope that their road to endgame is long and satisfying.
