What Hole pattern are you? This question is really dependent on what type of gear you already have.Your obviously not going to use the Channel technology with a 3D with a fixed bolt system. You will also have a ton of difficulty setting up 3D plates on anything but a 3D board. If you are somehow able to do so your putting your safty at risk. So, moral of the story is to keep plates type matched with bolt pattern.
This dose not mean you have absolutely %100 have to have the same branded gear ever. In fact that's what separates the posers from those with some sort of creativity that put emotional investment into there gear. Its this emotional investment that can also be seen in there riding style. Riding style will be addressed in a future article. Â
Here are some examples of some models for each type of bolt pattern. Â Â (legand)
-/\-interesting info:
X (4x4/2x4) -/\- most common bolt pattern $$$
3D *The 3D requires its own plate! do not cross a 4x4 or 2x4 plate with a 3D bolt pattern!* -/\-often but not always associated with wallmart snowboards. $$ -currently not used as often.Â
Channel system
-/\- trade marked by Burton snowboards $$$$
At the end of the day the hole pattern will not effect the performance of the snowboard. This is really a point of preference!Â
