econ midterm studying... it's going. i'm not going to lie, it's been difficult to keep up with four classes with the quarter system and econ is the class i have been slacking on. however, i think i'm grasping the concepts enough to review until next thursday!
30.04.17 // sunday
it's been a long weekend studying for my upcoming midterms. today i worked on study guides for chinese civilization because it's the class i'm more worried about.
26.04.17 // wednesday
i'm currently testing out a new way of note taking for my chinese civilization class. the material requires more synthesis, so i think this might be more helpful than the traditional bulletpoints-on-notebook-paper style.

where have i been for the past four days, you ask? i spent the last four days staffing LAMUN, a college level MUN conference UCLA hosts. i was a part of the renegotiating NAFTA committee, and while there were definitely things that could have been improved upon, the overall experience was wonderful. now back to that study grind.

i went to off campus to do get homework done on sunday! great perks of living in LA is having this great selection of places to go study (extra bonus: trip to the grove was super cheap)! the flowerbeds looked extra nice for easter and it was such a sunny day. i'm a firm believer that people shouldn't always study in the same place and a change of scenery is good for the mind and soul; you always deserve it!
Just out of interest, is your linguistic course looking at theories such as
“...(Finishing the unfinished ask that I sent too soon) such as Saussure's theory of semiotics or Pierce's?”
oh my... this is already way beyond what i’m learning. i’m taking the intro course to linguistic analysis (lower division) so we’re only studying the basics, but i’m definitely considering taking upper divisions for ling in the future and maybe learn more in depth!
Mind if I ask what your major is? : )
i am currently a pre-international development studies major and plan to continue down this path! the major requires application after satisfying pre-reqs, so we will see how this turns out.Â
types of students
a. coffeshops, highlighters, little post-it notes, wanting to be perfectly organized b. 2 am, eyebags, stacks of papers, the deadline is in half an hour c. messy bullet journal, messy desk, messy life but still trying d. night: telling yourself how productive you’ll be tomorrow, day: let’s binge watch another netflix series e. buying tons of cute stationery, having only one pen left by the end of the school year f. working really hard to achieve your goals only to be asked why you’re so smart g. ancient libraries, the smell of new textbooks, wanting to acquire all the knowledge h. studying to help people, to save the environment, to change the world

linguistic analysis is one of the most interesting courses i've ever taken! i've always loved languages and this class explores patterns that we innately know. the material is so fascinating that i actually look forward to doing my assignments.

korean culture night was such a great experience! people kept saying that kcn is the best culture night and i had to go see it for myself to judge. the story this year was about the sewol ferry in korea three years ago, a very sensitive topic. the play still managed to explore many central themes and relate the high school students who suffered to us, leading to a very emotional play. the performances in between were also amazing! i really enjoyed every second, crying and laughing, and it was truly wonderful production.

our north campus cafe has a fireplace that's really nice to sit and study by old chilly days (i know, hard to imagine in LA, but quite nice). on the other hand, if you're more of an outdoors study person, there are tables and chairs outside to study as well!
12.04.17 // wednesday
this afternoon i'm working on the last part of my chinese civilization readings—legalist teachings. after i finish i'll be done with all my work for the week!
08.04.17 // saturday
productive saturday! finished my game theory homework and linguistics assignments this afternoon and currently working on chinese readings.
07.04.17 // friday
pretty slow day today; i only have one 10 am class and then i have an open schedule. i will likely use this friday time before any nighttime activities or meetings to do my online lectures and homework assignments.
