barbara’s eyebrows drag upward  when she hears that. hand resting on her hip as she leans forward. ‘’ well, if she does, then i can’t say i mind much,’’  she muses, humour dancing in her eyes. ‘’ if i didn’t know you better, though, i’d say you sounded a little jealous, jones ! ‘’

      “ If Velma’s crushing on you, Batgirl, don’t worry. She’s got a  thing  for powerful women lately. It’s kinda overshadowing her love for mystery novels and untold stories. ”

“…ah, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to stare. It simply made me think of my own dog.” There’s a small, wistful smile that crosses her lips. “Pool hmm? Does he often win?”

      “ Couldn’t help noticing you were looking at my friends, our hungry dog, and I from across the bar. If you wanna join, I’m sure Shag could pull up an extra chair. Scooby’s quite the talented pooch. We just taught him how to play pool last week. ”

okay, so, i figured i’d offer up my thoughts on the fred and shaggy bromance dynamic, if you will. at times i wonder why there’re so few moments the two of them share as both teammates and friends/practical family in canon (there may be a few Mystery Incorporated episodes I’m overlooking, as well as maybe some scenes from the live action theatrical films). we know fred has daph for actual romantic interest and to occasionally tell him he’s an idiot (and even more/less occasionally, a genius). shag will always have the best friends forever dynamic with scooby, there’s probably no one else he’ll ever enjoy having a ginormous feast of junk food in the back of the mystery machine with, and that’ll never change. but scooby is vulnerable, as is everyone else in the gang. sometimes you need a dog to console you, but can you always find a confidant in an animal? even if they have human qualities of speech and compassion?

that’s where i feel fred and shaggy’s paths cross. if scooby is being anti-social, shaggy goes to fred either for guidance, or just to talk. scooby is sick, fred’s there by shag’s side, and probably visiting in the hospital the most. shaggy needs advice regarding girls, or dating? he goes to fred for a pep talk.

      “ I am putting my foot down. ”  Sick of waiting for the gang to meet back up at the van before sunset, Fred shook his noggin, dissatisfied with how nothing of this shopping center grabbed his attention. It was a surprise, however, that Daphne was the first to make it back, and with but one luxurious shopping tote in hand.  “ That is the last time we ever make a pit stop at a truckers’ outlet mall. Not only are Shag and Scoob eating their way through the food court, but Velm is buying the entire crime documentary shelf at the bookstore. ”

      “ Don’t know how well I’d sleep on this, but...  what  are you three ?”

im in a ‘need much needed calm down from work’ vibe. lips are chapped, hands with a burning sensation after i just applied medicated lotion. its so freezing in a place i live that is only normally in the 40s this time of year.
