It’ll toe the line between gentle ribbing or dissonance that dean did something outside sam’s idea of him, and unfiltered uncalled for judgement. It’s usually the smallest moments that dean allows himself to have, cause everyone’s a little weird sometimes so silly puns are something he lets himself have. BUT he still he almost always reacts with a little actual shame so it’s the little moments like that, which build up over the years, that makes it so much harder for dean to be authentic especially even testing the waters. he doesn’t know very many people who get to be around him for very long that didn’t know him before he was already in his 30s. It’s no WONDER he makes Cas watch goofy movies and dress up as cowboys with him :( and earnest castiel always humors him like i would too :/

Actually. Forgive me for this post. The confession should have been reverse. Dean should have told cas he is loved because he thought billie was gonna kill them both and it was his last chance to say it. Dean should have showered that angel with all the compliments and uncensored pure love in the world. Billie barges in just as cas reaches his moment of happiness. The empty takes cas and billie, leaving behind dean, utterly confused, devastated, heartbroken, riddled with guilt, but also a tiny bit relieved at least cas finally knew he was loved

This hurts but i have to agree. Dean has always been loved, by his mom and by Sam, and while its nice to hear it from Cas, no one has ever told Cas that they love him.

i love cas’ little outfit so much but i do think that during the divorce arc he shouldve had a little princess di revenge dress moment and showed some skin. just to make dean, who we already know is unwell, even more unwell

cas actually knows all the greatest secrets of the universe and he just casually lets these things out in normal conversation just to see his family’s surprise. dean’s talking about area 51 with charlie and cas just casually says “yeah, there’s aliens there. saw it myself,” and charlie’s bowl shatters on the ground as her and dean launch themselves at cas in awe. sam and jack talking about buried treasures and sam mentioning the lost city of atlantis and cas just suddenly rattles off coordinates as he walks into the room and jack asks what cas means and cas is like “that’s the coordinates. to atlantis. that’s what you were talking about, right? I watched it disappear and memorized the location” and jack is immediately scrambling from his chair saying what are they waiting for they need to go discover this hidden treasure right away. one time jack jokingly calls sam ‘big foot’ and cas rounds the corner and says “no, big foot was taller, but sam does has nicer hair” and then both sam and jack starting peppering cas with questions about other urban legends. the one that really gets to dean is when theyre walking around a lake one time and he kicks a stone into the water and says “this monster is starting to feel as fake as the loch ness monster,” and cas immediately whips around and says “oh nessie wasn’t a monster, she was actually quite gentle” and dean almost falls into the lake in shock

i love when sam and dean are still getting to know cas and they’re not used to all his casisms yet
