I went to a craftivism event tonight. Drank a slushie sour and realized I had not had any water today when my heart rate sky rocketed and I got light headed. Welcome to middle age.
I had a meeting today with someone from IT Risk. It made me 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫.
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
reblog if you're also lame and weird.
I have this idea for a book I would like to write, so I’m going to start researching.
It feels a bit egotistical to me bc it’s going to be a memoir, about education giving me the knowledge to begin deconstructing my own racism and bias, but from the angle of growing up in a white working class community. If I’m honest, I think I’m writing it for my family so they might have a path into understanding me. But ultimately I think it’s going to be cathartic for me either way.
I also will simply never understand the poor white man that supports Trump. Like my uncle was a steel worker, and a union member. His sons are more interested in their guns than anything else and I just don’t understand.
I took a creative nonfiction writing course in college and the instructor told me my voice was funny and engaging so hopefully I still am.
Thursday when I woke up my knee hurt really badly. I went to the retirement party Wednesday evening so I guess I …stood too aggressively?? But I went to the gym anyway and they just changed up my work out. I woke up Friday and it was better and I worked out today and it’s still better but bc I had to favor my other leg for a day, my right ankle started fussing this morning. I wore my old lady slip on sneakers (instead of my trainers) and wore compression socks to give me a little more stability. And I’m not even mad about it.
I really love my work outs. It’s still weird that I’m this person now.

I heard this IG summary of someone who read the article “The End of Reading is Here” from 8/26 issue of The Atlantic.
I didn’t read the article (yet?). I want to think I will, but the reality is, 🤷🏻♀️
I am however reading a trash novel referenced in that article. Nothing about this book is thinly veiled. Its power dynamics and sex wrapped up in hateful politics. I truly think this is how a certain kind of white woman is coping.

When my brain puts things together...
I heard this thing recently, a way of interacting with the work you do. High intention, low attachment (my therapist wrote it down, b/c it's that good :D). Basically, you do your thing with intention, like give it what energy you can give it, b/c the act of doing the thing is where your control is, but don't get attached to the outcome of the thing. This term made a lot of sense when I heard it b/c when I started working at the new job the executives drove me bonkers (for making everything more difficult), but it was because I was staying attached to the outcome of my work, not the work itself.
I went into my working out with this same mindset. I was going to give it my best effort while I was there, but I was not going to pay attention to a scale. I've learned to pay attention to the small outcomes that make my day-to-day life easier, like being stronger and able to paddle board longer.
This morning I was like "yah know what, I'm going to be intentional about brain dumping and getting a prioritized task list together." I used AI, I know, I know. But it is kind of amazing when you have a brain that runs at light speed but the processing speed of a snail. I had a really effective day, b/c I wasn't burning my energy trying to catch the tasks out of thin air when they hit me while I was doing other shit. So it's only one day, but I was shocked at how easy it was to just DO when my brain wasn't playing catch with the random association game.
But I feel like I screwed up at work. Like I was productive, but I realized I misunderstood something, and it feels like it caused a ripple effect of chaos, but I don't think it actually did. I think us moving a new process into testing too soon caused the problem, which was also kind of my decision, well I mean my boss backed it, but I have been having a minor spin out since I ended work (make it make sense please).
I was just in the bathroom peeing and I said out loud "holy shit, it's because my effort is making me feel seen and I don't like it." Mother fucker.
Anyway, old wounds and all that jazz. When you start to peel the onion and see the layers underneath the patterns, it's so clear. Now to practice not spinning out...
I woke up this morning with a really bad pain in my knee when I go up and down steps. I had to wear my knee brace all day, but I went to the gym anyway, b/c they adjust workouts. The trainer was like "wellllll, did you at least go to the doctor?" I was like "nahhhhh, if it's still this bad tomorrow, I will cancel my class on Saturday and go to the orthopedic walk-in clinic." Truth is that I probably won't though. I'm convinced it's just runners' knee and they are going to tell me to ice it, rest it and take ibuprofen.
I just got home from the director at my previous job’s retirement party. I do have to say, as much as I drowned in the bullshit at my last job, the people were always fantastic. It’s what kept me there for so long, and also what broke me.
But I had a realization tonight about something the CISO used to say and now that I’m in a different environment, I don’t think he was being dismissive. And like I need to ask my boss about it this week bc holy shit I don’t read things well. People-ing is hard.
I just told my husband that Lindsay Graham died. He was like “well hasn’t he been dead for like a week? And I said “you’re confusing the evil fuckers, Lindsay Graham.”
Anyway, I hope hell keeps their doors slightly ajar for easy access.

I just got back from the bookstore, bc I needed a new book to read. The 20 something books in my to read pile just weren’t it.
Can I ask a question about @‘ing people in work email??? Ummm why do it when the email is addressed to me?
I just got back from writing postcards. I wore shorts and sat on a vinyl booth. My butt was so sweaty.
Feeling kinky?
To the giant buttholes who are setting off booms at 10:15 on a Wednesday night, I wish you a serious case of diarrhea with no bathroom or toilet paper in sight.

So it turns out that my hyper verbal-ness was crashing my marriage. We’ve been strained for the past few months. I have been focusing on what is within my control and defining my needs so I can hold boundaries more clearly and regularly (with my kid and husband). My husband has been stuck with his therapy for a while. Well I saw it as stuck, bc he wouldn’t talk to me, or when he tried it would turn into this really gross pity party that left me annoyed. After an impromptu lunch last weekend, he finally was able to articulate to me that my interjections derail his thoughts and then he gives up, bc he has either lost the thread or I have moved on.
My brain’s default play mode is word associations. He says words and I am off on another thought stream while he was left behind going “but I just wanted to say this one thing but now I forget.”
i think very highly of myself; not out of ego, but because of growth. i know exactly what it took for me to become me.
