“Great! G-great, awesome! I’ll, I’ll come to your place and pick you up! I-it’ll be nice, I promise!”

He’s trying to ignore the way his heart is ready to beat straight out of his chest. Wow.

“T-tonight? Maybe?”

“Y-yeah!”

“L-like with food and candles and romance an-and stuff…is that okay?”

“Y-yeah? You always believed that, didn’t you? Even when you first met me..”

“H-hey, uh, Ethan…I’ve been thinking and..uh..would you be interested in, maybe, um…”

He takes in a breath and lets out the next sentence in a rush.

The rushed sentence took him a moment to untangle, but he got the gist.

“Ah!”

“Y-yes! yeah. you’re right. You’re completely right.” he clears his throat. “Uh…thanks, by the way for…you know…”

“A-always believing in me..and stuff.”

“Absolutely. Everyone gets a proper scolding if they’re within earshot.” he sighs, finally taking a long sip of his cocoa. He gets a tiny whipped cream mustache.

He laughs nervously and scratches the back of his head.

“I’m sorry. I guess I’m still kinda the same guy I was when you first met me, huh?” There is a little bit of sadness there.

“I don’t mean to be thirsty. I just…”

“If you mean someone who had a good heart, yeah. But I think you’ve improved a lot since then. And it’s okay to want something like that---”

He is putting HUGE dollops of whipped cream on his hot cocoa, and opening up a box of cookies.

“It’s this stupid game where people shout penis louder and louder. And now I think they’re comparing sizes?? Absolutely barbaric. Come inside and have hot cocoa with me so we can ignore these idiots.”
