One develops a tolerance for the cold living in Nixtorm, but faced with an impending blizzard… He can already feel numbness setting in. What drove him to this? The days since she passed have all been a haze of grief. He could have prevented this. He could have saved her, his beloved Hirokohime. (All it took was a single outburst for her own psychic powers to overwhelm her. And then she was gone.) If he had been able to protect her, there would have been no reason for her to use her to go so far…

He announces himself by uncomfortably clearing his throat. He and Mitsuhide have crossed paths innumerable times in the center while preparing cases. Seeing Mitsuhide on the other side of the glass still manages to unnerve him.

There are few people Mitsuhide would be willing to speak to in this state--clearly exhausted, his hair in disarray, still dressed in the slightly-rumpled suit he’d been wearing since yesterday and deep shadows under his eyes. He hadn’t slept a wink last night and barely eaten--but the second he knows his daughter is where she should be, he finally breathes a sigh of relief.
“Thank you.” Shoulders slump as he holds his head in his hands; there’s a clear mark on the left side of his forehead, a slight cut and surrounding bruise that had turned a sickly purple. “God... She’s not really dead, is she? ...She can’t be.”
