if poc in the fandom speaking up about how disappointed with taylor’s activism makes you upset or uncomfortable, ask yourself why you care more about coddling and protecting your white fave over the feelings of fans who have supported taylor for years that expected far more from her when she’s done the bare minimum.

also dont like feeling as if being angry at taylor for making a bigger fuss about her money, her image, and her music than black people being senselessly killed means that im focused on “the wrong thing” or not putting my attention where it should be. im angry because after years of supporting and celebrating this woman i am given an aggressive reminder that no rich white woman should be depended on for activism. that shit especially hurts because she made an entire documentary about how much she suddenly cares about politics and injustice and is suddenly just a whisper in the crowd. it shouldnt have taken a week for her to promote donation links and petitions and as grateful as i am to her for doing-so, it makes me so angry that it took her this long, this many tweets from fans, this many posts from fans, to do so. you wanna talk the talk then walk the walk too. i understand bringing attention to the lack of use on her platform can derail fans’ attention but it needs to be fucking said. it angers me that this is a woman who’s platform is built on the privilege given to her by the color of her skin, made a huge deal about the movie she was releasing about recognizing this privilege and is practically nowhere to be seen in the midst of this huge movement that could use the support of her platform. being political isnt a fashion statement, it’s not a trend and it’s not an aesthetic. all im saying is that i have the right to be angry at a woman i have supported as long as i have doing ~just enough~ at a time like this.
