i am happy to announce a new collection for trace of grey designs...the tog legacy series.
the first piece to introduce is ‘le tote enchanté’ 💫
she’s a bag full of enchanted stories. .
and here is the story behind the tog legacy series:
early in the first year as a business, claudia and i found a beautiful grey leather...it was named ‘grey beastie’. it became our favourite leather and i would say this was a signature leather we became known for.
7 years later, in the spring of 2018, the tannery that was making grey beastie discontinued it.
i was a bit stunned to hear this news...but i thought...c’est la vie! the universe is abundant and therefore i would find an even better grey to replace it at just the right time.
in the mean time...i went to the back of the tog studio and stared at the box of remnant pieces of grey beastie that i had.
hundreds of small pieces all shapes and sizes left over from the dozens of hides we had turned into bags, wallets, clutches, cuffs, keychains, journal covers etc.
i knew i had a precious goldmine right here.
it was in that moment i had the idea to create a collection using these remnants.
how wonderful ... story upon story upon story would actually be going into each piece!
this collection is rather special.
each piece is especially chosen and cut, then holes punched and arranged like puzzle pieces as i go.
you will notice one small panel of black is stitched into each side...as well as the black front and inner pocket.
this is my way of artistically communicating the spirit behind the name of tog...that life is not black or white, it’s beauty is found in the trace of grey that joins the two.
each piece in the legacy series will be released one at a time...so stay tuned!
