Music like this reminds me of the family kickbacks where the old heads are good and drunk, slow dancing, me & my cousins imitating them laughing & rolling our eyes, ppl saying they goodbye’s….I miss it

WE CARRY BEAUTY STANDARDS, CARRY CULTURE, CARRY RACIAL ISSUES, CARRY POVERTY ISSUES, CARRY EDUCATIONAL DISPARITIES & THE LIST NEVER ENDS. . . . I had a conversation this morning that led to this post & it was about how the description of Black women, always comes with the word “Strong” or similar. It revealed that because we have strength that we can handle anything. The truth of the matter - at least speaking for myself, my peers and some worldly examples - is that, just because we are TRIUMPHANT, doesn’t mean we want to continue to be TRIED. . . .
