Andre never wanted to die and he deluded himself into believing that he'd be able to escape right until he put that gun to his head, and even then he struggled with going through with it depsite knowing it was the only option,but Cal? Cal’s Last Birthday…

He’d think it was weird, having a whole celebration just for him. He’s never been big on parties—anyone could tell that just by looking at old birthday videos. Blowing out candles is one of the most awkward things on the planet.

He sits next to his cousins and grandparents, people he probably won’t see again. The next time they’ll see him is at his funeral, if they even decide to come. He fumbles around with the presents they give him—cds, clothes, and more. His older cousin even gives him a video game, one that will be burned soon but it’s the thought that counts.

It’s weird to know that this is his last birthday, that this is the oldest he’ll ever be. He feels stunted. He’s never really thought about a future, but he mourns one now. It’s different when you know you can’t have something that everyone else does.

Andre and Cal College Headcanons

Andre would go to the University of Connecticut while Cal would go to a community college somewhere local. If Cal was to get into the University of Connecticut or transfer there with his community college credits, he would room with Andre whether they have a dorm or an apartment.

Andre would major in mechanical engineering and minor in physics. Cal, if at a four year university, would major in psychology with a minor in sociology or some sort of entertainment degree.

Andre would be on the university's track and field team. He would have gotten a scholarship for it and honestly enjoys it. It is what made him come out of his shell a little in university.

Andre and Cal would make constant trips to visit one another. Cal would make his parents take him to visit Andre while Andre would just come home on weekends.

Andre attends every class he has. He never sleeps through one or decides to stay home instead. He and his family saved up money for him to college, so he's going to get his money's worth.

Cal would get an apartment of his own instead of staying in a dorm or at home with his parents and siblings. He'd have to get a job to save up, which he hates, but it's worth having his own freedom.

Andre gets around campus by walking or driving while Cal gets around by biking or skating.

When Andre gets his first place to himself, an apartment instead of a dorm or his parent's house, he gets himself a gun or two. He hangs them on display and goes shooting on the weekends.
