Helloooo! You can call me Mod Wurli (he/him she/her). Some may remember me from @bestsynthtourney. And I'm back for another tournament!
This one is set to decide what the best outfit worn by a musician/band is. I'm only accepting google form submissions (link: https://forms.gle/K44Au6oGkc95Cceo6 ) since it's easier to manage/standardise. :-)
Submissions will be open until at least August 5th, and will close after that when I think there are enough. My goal is at least 80 submissions.
When submitting, please follow the rules and guidelines below. If there are any questions/suggestions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Solo musicians, individual band members, and bands as a whole are allowed.
Music videos and album/single covers are allowed, but musicals/musical films are not allowed.
You are allowed to submit the same act multiple times if they are wearing a different outfit.Â
If you are submitting an individual in a band (e.g. submitting JUST Paul McCartney in a picture with the Beatles, or Beatles-era Paul McCartney on his own), you must name both the individual and the band name. Please also specify which person you are submitting (e.g. "2nd from the left")
The focus is on the clothes and accessories they are wearing, and not their physical appearance/personality etc...
It must be clear that the act is dressed up for their stage gimmick, and not just in casual/everyday clothes. Submissions will be counted if the stage gimmick is casual clothes (e.g. Weezer)
There's no date limit for this, but the pictures do have to be photographs. So, while you could submit a photo of Ella Fitzgerald, you could not submit a painting, illustration, or portrait of her. Thus, AI pictures are not allowed.
Sources of photos include (but are not limited to): screenshots from filmed live shows, album/single covers, professional and amateur live photography, screenshots from interviews/other filmed events, professional and amateur photoshoots, etc...
Thank you for joining us once again for another Mystery Character Bracket! If you're looking for a double blind tournament where your favorite characters can compete head to head, this is the place for you! (I say double blind because not even I will know in advance who the characters are. 🙂)

Now let's start with the rules of this tournament:
Any character, from any media, or from real life, may be submitted. There is no banned media here. However, for privacy reasons, please do not submit yourself.
Characters will compete using their descriptions only.
All characters will receive a random number to compete in round 1. Then they will be sorted into a winners and a losers bracket. The exact format will depend on how many characters there are.
Once a character is eliminated from the winners bracket, they will enter the losers bracket. Once a character is eliminated from the losers bracket, their identity will be revealed.
A new batch of polls will go up every few days. All polls will last one week, except for tiebreaker and special polls. Tiebreaker polls will last one day, and special polls will now last three days.
I will not check the characters to see who is who. That means I will be just as surprised as you when they are revealed.
You MAY submit multiple characters with the same description. Because I am not checking to see who's who, we WILL also accept repeat submissions of the same character.

I don't yet have a date for when I will close submissions. Like many things in this tournament, it will happen whenever I feel like it.
This is a new tournament blog, where the gimmick is that you, the voters, have to guess what the theme of the tournament is.
You can submit any character you want and as many characters as you want. Please do not submit any character multiple times-- I'll be choosing the brackets based off of whoever fits the requirements. Additionally, I'll either be not seeding or seeding based off of my own opinion of their popularity, so submitting multiple times does nothing except spam me.
You can submit real people as long as they're famous. Any character is on the table. Go nuts.

Hey! I'm pretty sure there's a tournament's of hot 80s musicians somewhere and I submitted people for the tournament about a month ago. We absolutely love the poll result grabber you posted. We use it to keep track of who is winning without having to cast a vote and potentially mess up a couple of the closer polls we have had. And it also makes it easier to calculate how many votes separate the options so we don't have to do the calculations

hey, I'm on indefinite hiatus for a bit. I've been on it for a while, really, I just didn't announce it.
I'm feeling pretty tired just doing my daily activities, and tournamentdirectory isn't in the same sort of hyperfocused-effortlessness that it was when I started. I just don't have the energy to spare.
I can still publish #tournament ideas, and will, or respond to some asks. the actual entries will likely not be posted for quite some time.
another tournament idea. you may have heard of "blue hair and pronouns" or "white hair and trauma" (anime boy trope I think) but consider. "blue eyes and trauma" bracket. you know the type. the really vivid aqua blue eyes with no shines that's a little dead inside.
please someone make this i don't have the time. or alternately if this already exists please link me in the notes so i can be abnormal about the characters. thank you
Mamas boy bracket: aka a bracket for people who would do the most insane stuff for their parents, it is just to see who loves their parent the most (think Percy Jackson, Eleanor Lamb from bioshock)
Awful haircut showdown: for all fictional characters who’s hair is just AWFUL
Cheese battle: it is just to see which cheese is the best cheese

some tournament ideas that i have been clinging to but don't think I'll ever have the time to run:
"echo" tourney, for characters that only/mostly speak using snippets of things they've heard/seen before (ex. Lapis from Steven Universe, Bumblebee from Transformers (in some iterations at least), relevant to me as an autistic person who regularly loses speech
conceited loserguy tourney, for characters that act like they think they are hot shit but are secretly really pathetic and/or sad (NOT derogatory. this is said with love), need a hug, and/or have deep-set self loathing (ex. shintaro kisaragi from the kagerou project, leon fou bartfort from the anime "trapped in a dating sim: the world of otome games is hard for mobs", natsuki subaru from re:zero)
the unpredictable tourney, in which submitters submit pairs of characters that they want to see matched up with one another, along with the topic they want their matchup to be for (ex. a submission could be "hoshino ai (oshi no ko) versus pinkie pie (my little pony) for the title of Most Depressed"); a preliminary round would be run with as many of these matchups as desired, and then the victors would go against a randomized opponent for a randomized matchup topic (so you could get something like "pinkie pie versus entrapta: who is the most morally reprehensible?"); rinse and repeat as many times as interested or until only one victor remains! the way I'm picturing this one, the first preliminary round could have duplicate characters which would then be removed for the second and future rounds
