How do you feel about driving? Because my tics are mostly in my hands and feet and they are mostly semi voluntary, but I only want to drive it it's an absolute emergency

how do I know if something is a tic? I have a few things I do that I cant help, but it doesn't hurt to suppress them; it just takes concentration and feeling a bit uncomfortable

Hey! I have TS and think I have a tic with my eyes, wondered if anyone with an eye rolling tic can help me understand if this is another tic? Hey I asked a little while ago about something and was really sad that my mom didn't belief me. Well she still doesn't really but I'm now going to a specialist and getting my diagnosis around march :p

I was at the doctor to get my physical and in the waiting room there’s a thing that says something along the line of “if you’re coughing or having flu like symptoms, take a mask and hand sanitizer” and my Tourette’s was just like ‘COUGH START COUGHING COUGH’ and I just sat there aggressively bouncing my leg and holding coughs back. That was my adventure today lol

I have tourettes and I think it has a lot to do with drugs and alcohol

Do you know if a movement that causes a sound would be classified as a motor tic or a vocal tic? For example, I have a tic where I clack my teeth together. Usually my mouth has to be open for this tic. I can’t tell if it counts as a vocal tic or if it counts as a motor tic. What do you think?

I was planning on telling my doctor about my tics (I'm going to the doctor because of something else but thought I could use tje oppertunety) but now my mom again tould be I'm just making up stuff and should stop cause its annoying. I don't want to tell the doctor anymore. Why can't she understand? I don't want the doctor to tell her when I tell the doctor. I don't want the doctor to also say I'm making stuff up. I feel really alone right now

Hey, I'm here because of your sensory sensitive thing because I double checked the related charity. They support ABA, and the caregivers inside may also support it. I worry that they may potentially apply it, which is something I don't need nor want.

I don't know if you can help but I really need to get this off my chest. My little brother has this friend who is a nice kid and wouldn't hurt a fly, but everytime he sleeps over I get these HORRIBLE impulsive thoughts about harming him (in any way.) It makes me feel awful, even though I'd never go through with it and know it's only in my head, but I've worked myself up pretty badly over it before. Is there a way to ignore and push through these thoughts? Thanks.

You asked why I want to hide my tics, so I thought I'd answer. (1) Really, I just want to minimize them if possible; if I still tic once or twice, I'll live with it. (2) My severe motor tics are often physically painful (hitting things, falling down), which I'm used to and have strategies to manage, but having 1000 people ask me if I'm okay afterwards is exhausting; that's honestly more likely than any overt hostility, which I wouldn't really expect from people in my community. Hi! I think I might have Tourette’s, and my mum thinks so to. I often have tics like gulping, nose twitching, neck cracking and sniffing. If I’m feeling calm I’ll barely tic at all, sometimes never, but if I’m in a stressful situation, for example, going into a surgery, or at a social event that makes me nervous, then I’ll be ticcing like crazy. Also I have OCD and an extreme compulsive picking problem. I don't grow hair on my arms because of the scars. It's hard. It really is but it's my life. The tic chart you posted is super helpful. Thank you.

I have ADHD ticks and it's great to see people talking about it. I always felt so alone with my wrist rubbing. Ear pulling and muscle contracting. Thank you. I don't feel as guilty about it anymore. Thank you.

is it possible that most of my vocal tics only happen when im not doing anything or if im just like watching youtube or reading a book

I am graduating high school in just under two weeks (yay!) and have to give a speech at graduation. I'm not the most comfortable public speaker to begin with, and speaking in front of people tends to make me anxious and thus make my tics worse. Any suggestions for how to control my tics on stage? My graduation will be in front of thousands of people, and I want to be prepared. My speech is short, so I won't have to be on stage long, but I want to do what I can to minimize my tics while I speak
