Bald friends adventure!
We went on a picnic with our friends.
Today is Toupee's first birthday. He did not enjoy this party hat that I made him.

All up on my shoulders like he owns the joint.
Happy Holidays.
I am really interesting in getting a Sphynx kitten. I have a big dog, and I have read somewhere that Sphynx cat's act more like dogs than cats, do you find that true? Is there anything I should know before continuing looking for a cat? (: thanks!
For the first few months that I had Toupee, I actually lived in a household that included a Great Dane, a Black Lab, and a potential German Shepard/Corgi mix (which is a best guess). He was introduced to them little-by-little, and always did fine. By the time we struck out on our own, he was freely roaming my parents' house and interacting with the dogs. Very social. We also have another cat, who's a little on the old side and a bit of a curmudgeon, who never seemed to care for the new feline in town.As for whether they're dog-like... I find it hard to give a definite answer, as I've only had one other cat, who I also consider to have a lot of dog-like mannerisms. Toupee is certainly more attention-seeking and social than the stereotypical image of an isolationist cat, which is usually sited as a big difference in the demeanor of cats and dogs. I dunno'.I'm also not completely sure about anything you should know, although I can recommend using google as your friend and reading up on the care specific to Sphynx cats, as well as things concerning their general health risks and needs as a breed. Of course, if you find that you have any specific questions that I might be able to answer, please feel free to ask. I'll do my best!

That is great, and a very interesting career too! I have family in Raleigh, NC actually now that you mention it are you from Raleigh as well? I will definitely be posting from the moment I pick up Hagrid (that is his name) If you would like to keep up you are welcome to follow my blog. I should be posting December 21st the day I pick him up Thank you for sharing your story. :) Random question though, how has Toupee with being 'mobile' like traveling, does he regularly stay using the litter box?
I am so sorry that I've taken so long in getting back to this! Work got kind of crazy due to our holiday program, and I am crud at remember internet-errands.My family currently lives half an hour or so east of Raleigh, in Zebulon.Aaaaand. Toupee has had litter box issues that don't have much to do with traveling, as they were present before we left the states. He will sometimes pee on the bed, for whatever reason. This could be unfortunately attributed to lots of causes, most of which are kind of hard to rule out, outside of making sure he's medically healthy. He is, so... It might be anxiety, being finicky about his littler box, etc.I've recently set up an extra litter box for him, and his habit has become to use one for urination and the other for deification, and it has thus far kept him from soiling the sheets.
Hello there! I am excited to have found this blog :) I myself am a new mommy to a sphynx but I have to pick him up from the breeder in about a month. I would love to hear Toupee's story and how he came to be with you?
Ooh, first ask. I am excite!
I'm pretty sure the story's not that interesting, though. I'd wanted a sphynx since middle school or so, and the desire never diminished as I got older. A little bit after I finished university, I found my current job in teaching English in South Korea. It's a job that allows one to pretty easily save up money. Coming home after my first year abroad, I decided that my big purchase with what I'd saved was going to be a sphynx.
I'd been browsing breeders on the web off-and-on for years, but it was actually kind of a fluke that I found Toupee's breeder. While looking for adoptable sphynx on a pet-ad website that I hadn't heard of before, I can across an ad for Unique Spynx, which is right in my home state of North Carolina. Toupee was one of three male kittens available, and I contacted the breeder to inquire about their availability, price, and the like. She sent me pictures and a short video of her kittens to see if I could pick one that I was particularly interested in.
I was already fond of Toupee's coloring, so it was initially a matter of choosing between him and his blue brother. I ultimately picked Toupee because the video featured his brothers running amok while he just kinda' hung out. I was like, "Hey, this cat can chill. Seems my speed."
I put down a deposit, and still had a month or so to wait until he was ready to move house. I got updates about his vet visits and plenty of pictures. Finally, I arranged to meet his breeder at some random Food Lion. She was going to bring him up on the way to visit Raleigh. My little brother went with me to pick him up, and that's basically that.
I already had his name picked out, and if I ever go balls-to-the-wall cat lady, I have plans for a Bouffant and a Pompadour.
Anyway, now I'm back in Korea, and I like to hang out and take pictures of nakey-butt. I'm happy to hear that you will soon know the joy of these wrinkly wonders. I'd love to know more about your experience as it unfolds, as well.
