warnings: dating, not really anything else js fluff, mildly like veryyy mildly suggestive

synopsis: died spence ask you to do his retwist but somehow tricks you into spending the whole day with him
song inspo:
You and Djed had been dating for about a year now. It started out as a friend of a friend situation until you inevitably crossed paths at a house party. With your locs falling slightly past your shoulders, and that unique blend of an earthy, quirky, yet confident aura, you had him completely intrigued. Djed couldn't help but walk right up to you to learn more, and it was history from there.
Now, yesterday, when he texted asking if you could retwist his hair, you agreed foolishly. He easily couldāve booked an appointment with a professional loctician, but he just wanted an excuse to see you. You learned how to retwist from maintaining your own hair. Plus he loved maintenance days with you, and honestly, he was just a little obsessed with being around you.
You agreedāwhat you didn't agree to was being woken out of a deep sleep byĀ pounding on the door and twenty billion missed calls at the ass crack of dawn.
Stumbling to the door in one of his oversized hoodies that he didn't even know youād stolen yet and a pair of shorts, your bonnet was completely crooked, looking like an absolute mess, maybe because you literally just woke up.
You opened the door, squinting against the morning light. "Djed⦠what are you doing here?" your voice came out raspy with sleep.
"You said youād do my hair," he said effortlessly, letting himself in before your brain could even process what was happening.
"I didn't think youād be here this early⦠ughhhh."
"Oh. My bad babesā¦" Djed paused, eyeing the familiar hoodie covering your frame. "Also⦠when did you take that hoodie?"
"Don't worry about it, just gimme a second."
Unbeknownst to you, heād brought a box of ginger dye with him because his dark roots were growing back in. You just stood there, giving him a total blank stare as he pulled the box out of his bag with a smug grin. Today is going to be a long ass day, ugh.
He followed you into your bedroom and plopped right down on your bed, overly comfortable. He spent the next few minutes teasing you, going on and on about how good you looked fresh off the wake-up. You sat there wondering if he was actually being genuine or just trying to distract you from being irritated about the early wake-up call.
Fast forward to waiting for his dye to settleāyou two plopped on the couch to find something to watch, and he somehow managed to manipulate the conversation into convincing you to dye your hair, too. So now, there you were, sitting next to him on the sofa with a couple of your own locs covered in the combo ginger dye.
When it was finally time to wash it out, Djed exaggerated every single reaction, groaning overly loud when your fingers scrubbed his scalp at the sink. The sound made your stomach flip a bit, making you snap at him to shut up while he protested with a grin. Afterward, he sat on the toilet with conditioner and a plastic bag wrapped around his head while you washed the dye from your own locs. He got a tad bit distracted⦠and touchy while waiting. The conditioner mightāve sat in his hair for a little too long, but too much moisture isn't a problem anyway.
Eventually, you washed the conditioner out, and then you were back on the couch while his hair towel-dried. Neither of you were in a rush considering he showed up at the break of dawn for god knows what, but Djed was making every task take ten hours by getting distracted and overly touchy unprovoked. It was hard to deny himālike, look at himābut the whole thing seemed completely intentional.
Next came play-fighting over the remote because you still couldn't decide what to watch. The wrestling for the remote escalated a little, but you guys finally compromised and decided to catch up on Love Island UK.
When it came time to style, you realized you hadn't eaten anything yet, so Djed ordered some food. Soon enough, you two were chilling at the kitchen island just eating, the whole vibe too comfortable and cute. He decided he wanted his signature style: clean barrels in the front and two strand twists hanging in the back. Who were you to complain? It looked good on him every single time.
Except instead of starting right away, Djed somehow lured you back to the couch to cuddle while watching Love Island. It was genuinely getting late nowāproof that you guys had gotten very little done today. He simply refused to get up, and unfortunately (not really) for you, you didn't have the strength to push a whole 6'1" athlete off your lap.
You finally fussed enough for him to get up and sit back on the rug between your knees so you could actually finish his hair.
You sat on the cushion of the sofa, your legs wrapped loosely around Djedās broad shoulders as he sat on the rug between your knees. The coffee table in front of you was a graveyard of today's events: discarded dye gloves, duckbill clips, a tub of loc gel, and the empty greasy wrappers of the takeout heād ordered when your stomach finally started complaining loud enough to drown out the TV. Your own locs, freshly washed with a few rich streaks of ginger framing your face and resting against your glasses, were pinned up out of the way.
Djed was supposed to be watching the Love Island recoupling, but his head kept heavily leaning back against your thigh. The slow R&B track in the background was doing its job, breaking down whatever energy he had left.
"You're slumping, Spence," you murmured, tapping his shoulder with the back of your gel-covered finger. "Sit up a little bit. I'm on the last couple of barrels."
"I'm sitting," he mumbled, not moving an inch. His long legs were stretched all the way out across the rug, completely relaxed. "You just take too long. Youāre doing that scalp massage stuff on purpose to put me out."
"what? I'm taking too long?" You paused, a barrel twist held firmly between your fingers, staring down at the back of his head with genuine disbelief. "Who knocked on my door at seven in the morning while I was dead asleep? Who brought surprise dye and convinced me to do my hair too? Who was getting all touchy and distracted while sitting on my toilet with a plastic bag on his head?"
Djed let out a cheap laugh, tilting his head back to look up at you upside down. The crisp, clean parts of his retwist made his face look even more defined, his dark eyes heavy and teasing under his eyelids.
"I had a vision for the day," he said smoothly, reaching up without looking to loop his long fingers around your wrist, his thumb tracing slow, warm circles against your pulse. Just like Syd was singing in the background he clearly had zero intention of rushing anything. "Can't blame a man for taking his time with his girl."
"You're ridiculous," you whispered, trying not to smile as you gently pushed his forehead back down with the flat of your hand. "Head down. Let me finish these front barrels so you can stop looking like a work in progress."
He hummed in compliance, but his hands didn't stray far, coming to rest comfortably over your ankles, his palms warm against your skin.
With every turn of your fingers, he was gassing you up under his breath.
"Look at the hands," he whispered, eyes half-closed as he caught your eye in the reflection of the TV. "Unmatched. Hands of an artist. The professionals couldn't even touch this."
"Keep boosting my ego like that and the tip better be crazy," you teased, smoothing down his baby hairs with a dab of edge control.
"Oh, you're getting taken care of," he purred, a lazy, cocky grin spreading across his face. "Full package."
Before you could even roast him for being corny, his breathing started to slow. The combination of the scalp massage, the music, and a full stomach knocked him clean out. Within five minutes, the 6'1" athlete was fast asleep, his head resting heavy right in your lap.
You sat there for a moment, hands resting on his freshly done head, looking down at him. The back pain from leaning over the couch all afternoon was very real, but looking at his faceātotally peaceful, completely undone just by being around youāmade it impossible to actually stay annoyed. He really had pulled out every trick in the book today just to stretch a retwist into a whole day of clinging to you.
You reached down and gently tapped his cheek. "Djed. Hey. Wake up."
He stirred, blinking slowly up through heavy lashes, looking disoriented for a second before that familiar smile returned. "Finished?"
"Finished," you said. "Go look."
He pushed himself up off the floor, stretching his long frame, and wandered into the bathroom. A second later, he walked back out, running his fingers lightly over the clean edges of his barrels.
"Nah, you actually killed this," he said, his eyes bright as he walked over to where you were stretching your sore back on the couch. "Look at me. Cleanest man in the city."
"Yeah, yeah. You owe me big timeā"
Before you could finish, Djed moved fast. He caught you around the waist, scooping you up effortlessly and tackling you back into the couch cushions. You let out a muffled squeal as his weight pinned you down, his face burying into your neck as he peppered your cheeks and jaw with a barrage of loud, dramatic kisses.
"Babe, stop! Your hairāyou're gonna mess up the fresh twists!" you gasped out, laughing as you tried to push his shoulders away, but it was like trying to move concrete.
"Don't care," he mumbled against your skin, catching your lips in a warm, lingering kiss that instantly melted your fake resistance. He pulled back just an inch, his eyes dark and warm as he looked down at you. "Told you. I'm not going anywhere tonight."
You raised an eyebrow, your hands resting on his shoulders. "Oh really? And what about your clothes? Your toothbrush?"
Djed leaned down, kissing the tip of your nose with a cheeky, triumphant smirk.
"Already brought my overnight bag in from the car when you were in the shower, babes. Plan was set since 7 AM."
You shook your head with a soft laugh, pulling the throw blanket up over both of your shoulders as he settled over you, the soft rhythm of Hold On wrapping around the quiet room.

Devin reached for his phone tucked into the front pocket of his gray sweats. The screen woke to his touch, illuminating the dim interior of his GMC. His keys sat on the middle console, his car still turned off despite the urge in his bones to get home as fast as the late afternoon Phoenix traffic allowed. His notifications pinged through now that he has stable cell service, his phone buzzing in his hand as he tapped your contact.
āHey, baby,ā he greeted softly when you finally picked up on the third ring. āI just touched down. Iām about to head your way.ā
āIām watching film, Dev. I canāt really talk long,ā you replied, your voice flat, stripped of its usual melodic rhythm.
āWatching film? Again?ā Devinās brow furrowed, his voice trailing off into a quiet, concerned hum. āYou were watching film this morning before practice, beautiful.ā
āIām just trying to be thorough,ā you answered, though the edge in your voice suggested you were more frustrated with your team's record than the footage being difficult to parse.
The line went silent for a brief moment as you released a long, heavy sigh, muttering something he couldnāt quite catch about screen-spacing. It wasnāt a secret that the Mercury were not having a season that you were proud of. You frequently vented to him the frustration you felt that your personal success wasnāt translating to success for the team. No one in their right mind would blame you for the 10th place standing; two places short of a playoffs spot if the season were ending today. But Devin knew you chose to shoulder the responsibility of the entire franchise on your shoulders, a burden that often turned you into a hollower version of yourself.
āYou good with me coming over still?ā Devin asked, making sure you were still in a mood to see him.
āIām fine,ā you replied, your voice sounding distant, as if you were already halfway back into the screen. āJust⦠yeah. Whatever you want.ā
Devin didnāt bother with another phone call to confirm your mood once he parked in your garage 45 minutes later, the silence radiating from the house combined with a lack of light was enough of an answer. He let himself in with his spare key, the interior of the home dim and smelling faintly of incense left burning in some part of the house. He found you in the office with the only light coming from the massive monitor casting a clinical, blue glow over your face. You were swallowed by an oversized black hoodie, the hood pulled up over your head with your eyes locked onto a freeze-frame of a defensive rotation that you had probably analyzed a thousand times.
āYou gotta press the play button for the film to work, beautiful,ā Devin said, his voice a low, vibrating rumble in the quiet of the room.
You didnāt startle, didnāt even tense your posture, you simply blinked, your eyes slowly shifting from the screen to the man approaching from the doorway. You didnāt move to hug him, barely even leaning in for a kiss he placed on your forehead, his hand cradling your cheek before he pulled your head to rest against his abdomen. Your focus was already drifting back to the screen, your thumbs fiddling with the controls on the black game controller you used to scrub through the footage.
āHey,ā you whispered hoarsely, not acknowledging the fun he poked at you immediately upon entering the office.
But Devin didnāt push. He stepped back and sank into one of the plush, cream-colored couches that lined the perimeter of the office, stretching his long legs out across the rug. He watched you for a few minutes, hearing the repetitive click, click, click of the controller and the rhythmic squeak of sneakers on a hardwood court emanating from the monitor. He tried a few conversational hooks: he asked about the weekly call you had this morning with your parents, mentioned the new wrap on your car that you told him you were considering, and made a light comment about how Toronto was more interesting than he remembered it being. You answered in one-word syllables, your mind clearly far away.
As the minutes ticked by, Devin noticed something that made him narrow his eyes. The footage on the screen shifted every so often, and after a few scrubs he recognized the play. It was a clip from a game against the Lynx three weeks ago. It was the same clip you had been playing over and over the last time heād visited before his trip. Sure, this particular clip was an example of some of your biggest problems defensively, but the fact that you were still circling the same drain days later told him you werenāt just analyzing film anymore. This was beyond that.
Devin stood up, crossing the 20 feet between you in a handful of steps. He didnāt say a word until he was directly behind you. He leaned over you, his palms pressed flat against the desk on either side of you.
āThe play is a wash, baby,ā he murmured, his voice vibrating against the shell of your ear. āYouāve analyzed this rotation a million times. Youāve seen the mistakes in judgement. Watching it one more time isn't going to make them play it differently three weeks ago. You canāt take that game back.ā
You sighed, chewing your bottom lip, and for a moment, you resisted. You tried to scrub the footage one more time, your thumb hovering over the controller, but Devin didnāt give you the chance. He reached around you, his large hand covering yours on the controller and gently pressing the power button. The blue light vanished, plunging the room into a heavy, sudden darkness that forced you to actually look at him.
āDevin,ā you protested, though your objection lacked any sharpness.
āNo more film tonight,ā Devin decided, his voice shifting into a quiet, authoritative tone. He shifted one hand from the desk to the small of your back, pulling you flush against him. āYou have food prepped in the fridge, right?ā
āYes,ā you affirmed with a nod. You leaned back into your chair, your head tilting back until you could see his face. For the first time in hours, the frantic loop of missed shots and failed defensive stances in your mind slowed down.
āGood. Now, do me a favor,ā Devin said, his voice returning to that lazy, honeyed drawl you loved. āGo take a shower. Wash this stress off you and get out of that hoodie. By the time you come back down, Iāll have your dinner plated and waiting. Deal?ā
You didnāt argue. The fight that had been propping you up for the last few weeks felt like a battery that had finally hit zero, leaving your limbs heavy and your mind suddenly quiet. You let out a long breath, and with a slow, reluctant movement, you stood up. Before you could walk away, he pulled you into him, his arms wrapping around your waist. He buried his face in the crook of your neck, breathing you in.
āJust let it go for a few hours,ā he whispered, his voice muffled against your skin. You leaned into him, your forehead resting against his chest for a fleeting moment of surrender. you gave a small, tired nod and finally let him steer you toward the stairs.
By the time you were showered, moisturized, and dressed in a set of matching silk pajamas, the heaviness on your mind had finally settled. As you descended the stairs, the distant clinking of silverware and the savory aroma of grilled salmon and asparagus drifted up to meet you, guiding you back into the living space.
You found Devin in the kitchen, leaning over the counter with a focused expression as he carefully plated your meal. He looked relaxed, his shirt tossed into the hamper in your bedroom in exchange for the white tank top exposing his broad shoulders which loosened as he sensed your presence. When you stepped into the kitchen, you walked straight into his back, wrapping your long arms around his waist and pressing your cheek against the center of his shoulder blades.
Devin let out a soft chuckle, the sound vibrating through his chest and into your cheek. āLook at that,ā he murmured. āGot you all soft for me off a shower.ā
āCan you just kiss me?ā you muttered. āI didnāt get a kiss when you walked in.ā
Devin turned in your arms, holding your face in his hands to find you pouting. He pecked your bottom lip once, then twice, before deepening the kiss into something slower. He stepped back just enough to let you breathe, but his hands didnāt leave you.
āI tried to kiss you but you had your hood up and shit. I had to tread lightly,ā Devin smiled, his thumbs grazing the high points of your cheekbones. He leaned down, pressing another kiss to your nose before finding your lips a few more times. The touch was grounding, pulling you fully out of the mental wreckage of the season and back into the warmth of the present and this moment with him.
He stepped away just enough to guide you toward the living room, carrying your food in one hand and a tumbler full of cold water in the other. āI already poured you some water,ā he directed you to sit gently, bringing you into his side once you were comfortable.
You sank into the plush cushions of the sofa, the silk of your pajamas sliding luxuriously against your skin as you leaned heavily into Devinās side. The tension that had lived in your shoulders for weeks didnāt vanish entirely, but it softened. You took the plate from him, the warmth of the salmon radiating through the ceramic, and felt a rush of gratitude wash over you. For a few hours, you didnāt have to be the franchise savior or the captain steering a sinking ship. You could just be taken care of even if it was just making sure you ate your dinner and drank some water.

Virgil had always been affectionate in quiet ways. Tonight you curled up beside him on the sofa with a blanket over both your legs watching the movie in front of you as Virgil rested against the cushions one arm draped comfortably around your shoulders.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, he shifted slightly closer. You barely noticed until you felt him tuck his face into the crook of your neck, his warm breath hovering over your skin ever so slightly. āWhat are you doing?ā You laughed.
He breathed in slowly. āYou smell nice.ā
You smiled āOh wow thanks.ā You sarcastically said.
Virgil stayed there for another second before suddenly taking the most exaggerated dramatic sniff imaginable to your neck, rush of air tickled the side of your neck giving you slight goosebumps.
You squealed shoulders jumping as you burst into a fit of giggles. āVirgil!ā
He couldnāt help but smile. āWhat?ā
āThat tickles!ā
āIt did?ā
āWell obviously!ā
You dissolved into another fit of giggles as he grinned innocently trying to hide the fact he did it on purpose. āI was just appreciating the perfume.ā
āNo you werenāt!ā
āI was!ā
āYou literally sounded like a vacuum cleaner itās so funny.ā
Virgil laughed shaking his head. āI donāt think I did.ā
āYou absolutely did.ā
He repeated his action a second time, taking another dramatic inhale of a scent in the crook of your neck, making your shoulder jump once more from his touch.
āAh!ā You jumped slightly. āSee!ā You nudged him with your shoulder still laughing as you rubbed the side of your neck.
āI still stand by what I said.ā
āAnd that isā¦?ā
āYou smell nice.ā
āThatās a much better way of saying it than trying to inhale my entire shoulder.ā
āI already said you smell nice!ā
āI know and I just wanted to hear you say it again.ā You grinned.

synopsis: Growing up in Paris suburbs, you and Ibou were attached at the hip, childhood sweethearts in everything but name. After years of radio silence, lost phone numbers, and separate careers across the ocean, an unseasonably warm autumn in Paris brings him back into your life.
song inspo:
Growing up in Paris as kids of immigrant families, your lives weren't just intertwined, they were practically glued together. The streets were a massive concrete jungle. A chaotic melting pot where everyone was bonded by the exact same hustle, the same loud family gatherings, and the same shared struggle. Your families weren't just neighbors; your moms were best friends, and every single Eid was spent together. Trading dishes, sharing traditions, and making memories was just normal life.Ā
That meant you and Ibou grew up basically attached at the hip. From five years old, kicking a beat up football against the brick walls until the streetlights flickered on, to sitting on the concrete steps sharing cheap pastries after school, you two were inseparable. You were practically childhood loversājust way too young and completely naive to realize what you were accidentally building between each other.
By the time high school hit, that innocent bond started shifting into something heavy and intense. It was almost dating, literally right there on the edge of becoming everything. Everything was moving so fast. You loved him, he loved you, but you were just teenagers who didn't even know what love actually was yet, let alone how to navigate it while trying to figure out who you were. The tension was hanging in the air during every shared walk home, every late-night phone call whispered into your pillow, and every time his hand accidentally brushed against yours. Neither of you took the real initiative to label it. You kept it modest, hiding behind the safety net of being "really good childhood friends," while spectators constantly watched the two of you and wondered if there was something more or when you guys were finally going to snap and admit it.
Then came the call that changed everything: Ibou got signed to RB Leipzig.
It was his total "made it out" moment. One day he was young playing street ball in Paris, and the next he was moving to Germany to join a stable Bundesliga team. That career move was all he had ever dreamed of since he was a little boy kicking balls against streetlamps, but the cruel flaw was that it meant leaving you behind. It was a quiet, suffocating kind of heartbreak. It wasn't a messy breakupābecause you two had never even admitted you were in loveābut the painful lingering thought of almost being together tore through both of you. You parted ways with an aching hug, leaving all that unspoken potential hanging in the air, promising to stay in touch as best friends.
Not long after, you had your own breakthrough. You graduated high school and landed an acceptance to a top university in the United States. That was your āmade it outā momentāgoing from a first-gen immigrant kid in the Paris suburbs to an international student across the pond.
Suddenly, the distance wasn't just a train ride away anymore. It was an entire ocean. He was establishing himself in Germany, and you were pulling all-nighters in American university libraries, thousands of miles away from Paris and each other. Still, the connection was pretty stubborn. You kept in touch through the yearsāwishing each other Happy Eid and Ramadan, leaving hype comments on each other's big social media accomplishments, and catching up whenever you happened to overlap back home in France during summer family gatherings. But life grew loud and demanding. During one of your move ins between college apartments, you changed your phone number, and between lost contacts and insane schedules, the digital line finally snapped. You completely lost touch for years.
Then came a september, years later.
You were in your mid-twenties, locked into a successful, long-term career in the States, and had flown back to Paris for a two-week visit with your family. At the exact same time, Ibou was back in France for an international break with the French national team. Through sheer coincidence and the oddly stubborn, unbreakable ties of your familiesāwho still talked constantlyāyour moms scheming, coordinated a reunion.
You met up at a small, low-key coffee shop tucked away on a quiet street one unseasonably warm fall morning. The European heat was honestly deadly, and you were sitting under a striped canvas awning, sipping an iced latte, when a massive shadow fell over your metal table.
You looked up, and there he wasāall six-foot-four of him, wearing a simple linen shirt and a nervous, radiant smile that instantly wiped away half a decade of radio silence.
"Look at you," Ibou murmured, his voice dropping into that familiar, playful, warm tone as he pulled you out of your chair and into a hug that practically lifted your feet right off the pavement. "Living in the States, big career woman... you really left all of us in the dust, huh?"
"Me?" You laughed into his chest, taking in the scent of his cologneāexpensive, subtle, but still undeniably him. "You're the one playing for Liverpool! Since when do big shot Premier League defenders drink basic coffee in Paris?"
"Since my childhood best friend finally surfaced after disappearing off the face of the earth," he teased, sitting down opposite you. His long legs accidentally brushed against yours under the small metal table, sending a jolt straight up your spine, but neither of you pulled back.
The conversation spilled out as effortlessly as it used to on the concrete steps of your old apartment building. You caught him up on your life in America, the grind of your job, and how you traveled back and forth to Paris whenever you could. In return, Ibou opened up about his life in England. He had built a serious name for himself in world footballākey defender for Liverpool, Premier League champion, trophies to his name. It was everything heād ever dreamed of, but his voice carried a quiet, underlying weariness.
"It sounds crazy," Ibou admitted, leaning his chin on his palm and watching you intently as you stirred your drink. "I got the career, the trophies, the money... But honestly? Itās pretty lonely out there. I'm not really into the whole footballer lifestyleāthe partying, the escorts, the loud nights out. These days Iām just letting God handle all the things above me. I drive a normal car, stay out of the media, and most of my free time is just watching anime at home or taking solo vacations where I sit by the water."
He chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm twenty-seven now, and Iām still trying to find myself, let alone a soulmate. The guys at the club are always telling me to find someone, but... nobody feels right you know? And you can't exactly cuddle with the lads after a tough lossātheir wives wouldn't like that very much."
You laughed, but the warmth in his eyes made your throat go dry. "No secret girlfriend hiding anywhere?"
"No," he said, his smile softening as he looked directly into your eyes. "If I ever just need to talk... are you gonna be around? Because nobody feels like home... except when Iām back here. Talking to you."
That single sentence sent a heavy wave of nostalgia crashing over you. Talking to him at that coffee shop instantly rekindled that dormant teenage spark, turning it into a full, burning flame.
Because you were off work for your visit and Ibou was on an international break, those initial two weeks turned into an absolute blur of being attached at the hip again. You two spent practically every single day together. You visited your old childhood spotsāwalking through the old neighborhoods, pointing out faded graffiti, buying late-night shawarma from the same corner shop, and filling in all the blanks of the missing years.
You talked about your terrible exes, crazy college professors, toxic club managers, and the reality of what living all over Europe was like for him versus living in the States for you. Every touch felt charged. His arm draped casually over your shoulders as you walked down crowded boulevards, his broad hand catching yours when navigating traffic, and the soft, tender way he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear when the wind blew.
By the time his EDF training sessions wrapped up and you had to fly back to America, those old childhood feelings hadn't just resurfacedāthey had now hit you with full force. You were in the exact same boat as Ibou: locked into your career, not actively searching for love, but completely defenseless against how hard you were falling for your childhood crush all over again.
When you parted ways at the airport, the hug lasted just a second too long. Ibou buried his face into the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply before whispering, "Don't change your number on me this time. I mean it."
Back in the States, your days were consumed by work, but your mind was stuck on Ibou. He was back in Liverpool, calling you whenever he had a free moment between training sessions.
When summer arrived, it brought a World Cup held right in the Americas. Ibou made sure you had prime tickets to all of France's matches in your city. Seeing him command the pitch under the blinding stadium lights hit entirely differently now. After the games, he'd drag you into the stadium tunnels and private lounges, proudly introducing you to his teammates as his "favorite person from back home." Even though you were technically attending just as his best friend, the entire dynamic felt wildly, intensely romanticāand neither of you did a single thing to stop it. Why would you?
Unfortunately, France took a heartbreaking loss in the semifinals, ending their World Cup run. Ibou was gutted, but since he was already in the States, he decided to stay and spend his remaining off-season weeks with you.
That summer became an absolute dream. You took time off, and together you went on road trips across the country, checking off every bucket-list spot you had ever wanted to visit. You ate at late-night diners, stayed in quiet coastal hotels, and spent endless hours talking in the front seat of the car while driving down empty highways. You realized quickly that this was the man you lowkey knew you would marry if he ever had the want to ask.
Naturally, the topic of relationships came up during one of those late-night drives. You both tiptoed around the subject, casually asking about each other's dating lives, only to confirm that you were both extremely painfully single. Yet, the unsaid tension and the elephant in the room loomed over every single outing.
As the end of the summer crept closer, his time in America was drawing to a devastating close.
Or so you thoughtā¦
Over takeout in your apartment one night, Ibou set his fork down and looked at you casually. "So, my transfer from Liverpool to Real Madrid is officially locked in."
"Ibou, that's huge!" you said, smiling brightly. "Madrid?"
"Yeah, big chapter," he grinned, before softening his expression. " Okay listen... before pre-season starts in Spain, I booked a private villa on an island for a week just to reset. But my plus-one had to cancel last minute." He paused, setting his drink down and watching your face carefully. "Come with me."
You blinked, pausing mid-bite. "To an island? Just the two of us?"
"Just us," he confirmed, a shy smirk touching his lips. "To kick back. As friends... obviously. Unless you're too busy?"
You looked at his nervous face and chuckled. "Ibou, only an absolute idiot would turn down a luxury island villa with you."
ā¦
The island was pure, isolated paradise. The villa sat high on a cliffside with an infinity pool that spilled over into the endless ocean horizon. For the first few days, you two just lived in pure blissāswimming, soaking up the sun, cooking together, and teasing each other endlessly. You even helped take his pictures for his instagram dump. But as the final days of the trip began to tick away, the unspoken romantic weight between you became impossible to ignore.
On your very last night, the ocean breeze was cool against the island heat. You were sitting on the edge of the illuminated pool deck, your legs dangling into the warm, clear water. From the indoor speakers, Drakeās Jungle was playing softly, the slow, atmospheric R&B beat echoing across the open patio.
Ibou came out from the kitchen, setting two drinks on the patio table before sliding down onto the wooden deck right beside you. His broad shoulder pressed firmly against yours, warm and solid. For a long, heavy moment, neither of you said a word, just watching the dark ocean waves crash against the rocks below while the music filled the quiet night.
"You know..." Ibou started softly, his voice lower and huskier than usual. He looked down at his feet in the water, swirling the surface. "When I got on that plane for Leipzig when I was eighteen... my little heart was completely broken. I really thought I was just leaving the love of my life behind in Paris and had to force myself to get over it. I guess the things I couldn't change back then are part of the reason we ended up here."
Your heart did a violent flip in your chest. "Ibou..." you tried to laugh off the tension.
"I'm serious," he said, turning his body to face you fully under the dim patio lights. He reached out, his long, warm fingers wrapping around your hand, lacing his fingers tightly through yours. "We spent all these years pretending we were just best friends, but we both know what was almost there. We were just young⦠But after this summer... after being with you again..."
He leaned in closer, his dark brown eyes holding yours with intense clarity.
"I'm moving to Madrid for a brand new chapter," he whispered, his thumb softly tracing circles over the back of your hand. "And I refuse to leave for Spain without you in my corner for real this time. So tell me... are you in for the cause? Are you still here for me, like we were back when we were younger?"
"Ibou," you breathed, too stunned to speak as a tear pricked the corner of your eye as a breathless smile broke across your face. "I never stopped being down for you. Not once." You chuckled
A look of pure, overwhelming relief washed over his features, followed by that contagious, beautiful smile you had cherished for decades.
"Good," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Because I was nervous,Ā I think I waited way too many years for this."
He leaned in, his broad palm coming up to gently cup the back of your neck, his fingers tangling into your hair as he pulled you into him. His lips met yours in a kiss that was slow, deep, and heavy with years of built-up longing, quiet heartbreak, and unspoken love. You slid your arms around his massive shoulders, pulling him as close as physically possible, while his other arm wrapped tightly around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest on the poolside deck.
When he finally pulled back just an inch, resting his forehead against yours, he was breathing heavily. His thumb gently wipes your cheek before he pressed a soft kiss to the corner of your mouth, then your jaw, and then another long, lingering kiss to your lips.
"You're mine now," he hummed softly against your mouth, pulling you fully into his lap on the wooden deck. "No more lost numbers. No more 'just friends.' You're coming to Madrid whenever you can too, and I'm flying to the States whenever I get a break."
"Are you bossing me around already?" you giggled, burying your face into the warm crook of his neck as he wrapped his massive arms around you, holding you like he was never going to let go again.
"Yes," he murmured, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to the sensitive skin right beneath your ear, making you shiver in his arms. "Absolute command. No buts"
Now, you are officially navigating the chaos of long-distance WAG life with Real Madrid's newest defender. Balancing your own demanding, locked-in career in the States with crazy time-zone differences, late-night FaceTime dates, and flying out to Spain on long weekends wasn't always simple. But every single time you landed at the airport in Madrid, walking out of the terminal to find Ibou leaning against his car with open arms, ready to lift you off your feet and kiss you like no time had ever passedāyou knew this long, stubborn road back to each other had been worth every single second.

Hello<3 Can you do a michael os where every month he buys his gf a plushie (like a jellycat), and she has a whole collection of them since they have been together for over 2 years
two years ago, only a month after you and michael had started dating, the two of you had walked past a small gift shop in london.
you had stopped in front of the window and pointed at a fluffy jellycat bunny sitting on a shelf.
ālook at him.ā
michael looked. āhe looks sad,ā he said without much conviction.
āhe's cute.ā
later that afternoon, after you had completely forgotten about it, he had disappeared into a shop while you were at a lingerie store.
when he came back, he had handed you a paper bag and inside sat the little bunny.
āyou bought him!ā you were nearly crying.
āyeah.ā
āwhy?ā
he had shrugged like spending 50 dollars on a plushie was completely normal. āyou liked him.ā
you had hugged both the bunny and michael immediately and it was how that had become a tradition. every month without fail michael will buy you one plushie.
after two years, there were plushies on shelves, on your bed, some sitting on the dresser and other lined up along the window.
later that evening michael came over and the second he entered your bedroom, his eyes landed on the newest addition sitting on your pillow.
a fluffy little bear he had bought the previous week.
he smiled automatically. āhe looks happy.ā
āhe does. everyone is happy there.ā
āthatās good.ā
he sat beside you on the bed, immediately surrounded by approximately seventeen plushies. so many that one fell over when he sat. he picked it up and placed it upright again.
you watched him, smiling because after more than two years, he still remembered every month and showed up carrying a gift bag behind his back.
āyou know this is insane?ā you asked.
āyeah, probably.ā
āthere are so many,ā you laughed. āwhere am i supposed to put future ones?ā
āthere,ā he pointed toward an empty corner. āor i'll buy another shelf.ā
he was completely hopeless. instead of saying that he won't buy plushies anymore, he just found another corner.
that made your heart flutter, nobody had ever paid attention to the little things the way michael did.
most people would have forgotten about a random plushie you pointed at in a shop window but michael had turned it into a tradition that lasted over two years.
every. single. month. of course without missing one. two years of your relationship sitting on shelves.
when you looked back at him, he was already watching you.
you smiled then leaned over and kissed his cheek and he immediately did an embarrassed expression.
you laughed at his face. ādon't worry, i was just thinking i love you.ā
his expression softened completely, it always did when you said things like that.
ānext monthās plushie is already waiting,ā it was his way of saying i love you too.
synopsis: After a summer in Europe with Hugo Ekitike, you're back on campus drowning in classes, research, and internships. You miss him, but dating is completely off the table. Last time you guys tried that, the ship completely sank, and you're both way too stubborn to admit you actually miss each other. Hugo texts out of nowhere, and suddenly a lowkey summer in the States is in full swing. Keeping it strictly "no labels" works perfectly, until you're saying goodbye at the airport, stuck on opposite ends of the globe, already counting down days to next summer.
song inspo:
The fall semester in the States was a brutal mix of presentations, exams, and back-to-back internship shifts. Every time you sat in the library at ungodly hours of the night, staring at a stack of research papers, your mind kept drifting back to last summerāthe month youād spent in Europe, the late-night street food, sight seeing, the hours spent talking on balcony edges until sunrise.
Oh and, of course, Hugo.
Now across the pond, he was in Liverpool, doing what he did best. Playing Premier League football, living a flashy lifestyle surrounded by nice cars, night outs, and constant noise from the media. It was a world you had zero interest in being a part of. Neither of you had been looking for a relationshipāyou were laser-focused on building your own career, and he was living fast in the spotlight. A real relationship between you two made no sense. It would be toxic, messy, and completely impracticalā¦you tried
Yet, you couldn't stop thinking about him, and deep down, you knew he was doing the exact same thing. You were like magnetsāconstantly pulling each other back in, even with thousands of miles lying between you.
Then came the second semester. As finals week approached, bringing the usual chaotic stacks of projects and exams, Hugo got an injury. It wasn't career-ending, but it meant no international duty for him that summer, no playing for his country, just mandatory rest.
His first text arrived on a Tuesday night. It started off completely innocent, just checking in on your finals. But within days, the banter turned serious, the unspoken tension revived, and before you even had time to fully process it, he sent a screenshot.
A flight confirmation to your airport in the States..oh
It was actually happening.
Finals ended, the Premier League wrapped up, and on a warm, sunlit summer morning, you woke up in your own room and turned over to see Hugo sleeping right next to you. Shit. It was completely unreal.
What followed was the most perfect summer ever. You kept things lowkey of course, quietly bringing him into your world. You took him to backyard cookouts and pool parties where he ate cheap burgers off paper plates, hit up local beaches, and hid in quiet bars to catch World Cup matches together. You guys even took a trip to Marthaās Vineyard, spending hazy, sun-drenhed days wandering around the island together.
It was everything you needed after the school year you just had, all with Hugo, all technically as "friends". Sometimes a little more. You enjoyed each other in the present, keeping it light and meaningful, being nice to each other ,sometimes too nice, without forcing a label on something that would only break under pressure.
When summer finally came to an end, it left a sour taste in your mouth. You could tell Hugo felt it, too. Neither of you liked the reality of saying goodbye. But a real relationship? A real real relationship? You didn't want a boyfriend, and it's clear he didn't need a girlfriend right now. It was too toxic to even attempt again, but being able to just enjoy each other's company while it lasted was fulfilling enough.
Preseason training was around the corner for him, and your upcoming fall classes were calling for you.
At the airport drop-off, the silence in the car was heavy. When it was time to say goodbye, you stepped into a hug. You both held on just a little longer than necessaryāfingers digging into the fabric of his hoodie, he held his breath for a few extra seconds before pulling away.
No dramatic promises. No labels. Nothing
Now, youāre back on opposite ends of the globe, you at your desk in the States, him on the pitch in Liverpool. Both of you pretending youāre fine, both secretly yearning for next summer.

synopsis:Ā Itās been two years since Michaelās move to Germany, and while his face is literally everywhereāalong w/ rumors, new women, and a jumping careerāyouāve been stuck trying to force yourself to move on through meaningless flings and broken relationships. A chance, awkward encounter in London reopens every unhealed wound.
song inspo:
š¶āI understand if you changed your mind about me... but all you had to do was say."š¶ loud - Olivia Dean
That line from Olivia Deanās song had been playing on a loop in your head forever. You cant lie, you were bitter.
Two entire years since he packed up his life, left South London, and moved to Germany. Two years of watching him build a grand, glittering life in Munich while you were left picking up the pieces of whatever the hell 2022 had been.
Back then, you thought what you two had was deep. It felt like everything. He had you in his bed, taking up every second of your free time, holding you like you were the only thing anchored to the earth. But apparently, it wasn't that serious to him. Apparently, you were just in the right place at the right timeāhis little sanctuary before he leveled up and moved on to ābigger, better thingsā.
At least, thatās how it felt. Because a real man would have at least said goodbye. He wouldāve looked you in the eye and said, āI donāt want this anymore.ā Instead, he chose nothing.
And now, his face was everywhere. Literally everywhere
You couldn't escape Michael if you tried. His name was plastered across sports outlets, his highlights were all over TikTok, and every other week, no fail, fan pages were posting photos of him on yachts, outside clubs, or hanging around different women. Recently, there had even been a rumor about an alleged baby mother. Ouf. Every single notification felt like a fresh slap to the face. It stung bad. It made you feel sick to your stomach, knowing how easily youād been replaced while you were still stuck analyzing every text you ever sent him.
So, you tried to move on. You really did. You threw yourself into university, secured the degree, and dated around. There were casual flings, annoying "talking stages," and even a full-blown relationship that lasted six months. But none of it worked. No one touched you the same. No one knew the flow of your voice or the way you liked your coffee the way Michael did.
Last week, you finally called it off with your boyfriend. You lied and told him everything was "too much" and that you "weren't ready for a relationship." The truth was, you were just a mess. You were still hopelessly hung up on a ghost.
Unlike Michael, who was clearly thriving. Or so you thought.
Nothing prepared you for running into him on a random Tuesday afternoon in Central London. Nothing.
You were coming out of a coffee shop, minding your own business, when you almost walked straight into a broad chest. You muttered an apology, looked upāand the world completely froze in place.
Michael looked back at you, frozen. He was taller, broader, his style sleekerā¦kinda, but those were the exact same eyes that used to watch you sleep. He was completely stunned to speak.
Truthfully, Michael felt like the air had been knocked straight out of his lungs. You looked gorgeous. Better than he remembered. Adulting looked incredible on you, and in a split second, two years of buried longing hit him like a train. He hadnāt forgotten you. Not for a single day. No amount of women throwing themselves at him, no amount of fame or distraction had ever wiped the memory of you from his brain.
But the last time heād checked your socials a year ago, he saw a picture of you with another guy. He assumed you had moved on, built a life without him, and hated his guts. So, he took his loss and stayed away. He figured he deserved it for being a coward back then anyways.
The conversation that followed was... awkward as hell.
"Oh. Hey," he had muttered, hands shoved deep into his pockets.
"Hey. Michael. Wow. Long time," you said, your voice tight.
It was painful. This was the man you used to spend every breathing second with. The man who knew every curve of your body, every secret youād ever whispered. And now? He didn't even know what to say to you. You exchanged stiff, polite pleasantries.
"How's Germany?"
"Good, good. Cold. How's uni?"
"Finished. Working now."
"Ah. That's..great."
You parted ways after barely touching the surface level. It was cold. It was unnatural.
Just when you thought you were finally getting over him, he was right back at the tip of your mind, wrecking your peace all over again.
Unbeknownst to you, Michael was staying in a luxury hotel in London for a few days before Bundesliga pre-season training kicked off.
Right now, he was pacing the hardwood floor of his suite, pulling at his locs, completely spiraling. That encounter had ruined him. The stiff, polite girl on the street wasn't you. He couldn't stand the thought that the last interaction you two might ever have in this lifetime was whatever miserable, awkward āconversationā that just happened.
He opened his phone. He typed out a text. Deleted it. Typed it again. Hands sweating.
:Hey, I know this is random. But can I buy you dinner this week? Just to catch up.
properly.
It took him thirty minutes of staring at his screen, pacing back and forth, before he finally hit send.
When your phone buzzed on your coffee table and his name popped up, you stared at it for a solid two minutes. WTF. What is he doing?
Your pride told you to ignore it. Your brain told you to delete his number. Never look back.
But your heart... made you dress up in a sleek black dress and meet him at a fancy restaurant in Mayfair on a Friday evening.
The first twenty minutes at the restaurant were physically painful. The silence hung heavy, choked by two years of unspoken resentment and pride.
"So... Germany's good?" you asked, taking a quick sip of your wine.
"Yeah. Yeah, it's alright. Fast football. Different culture." Michael picked at his glass. "How's... school? Life?"
"I graduated. Got the job I wanted."
"That's good. Happy for you."
Rinse. Repeat. Recycle. It was exhausting. You were about ready to ask for the bill and cut your losses when Michael accidentally knocked his fork off the table, caught it with a ridiculous, uncoordinated reflex, and almost spilled his drink in the process.
You burst out laughingāa real, loud laugh that you genuinely couldnāt hold back.
Michael looked up, a sheepish smile cracking through his serious expression. "Shut up, man. My hands are cold."
"You're a top athlete and your reflexes almost failed you over a fork," you teased, shaking your head.
"Pfft, failed?," he grinned, those dark eyes crinkling at the corners.
Just like that, the ice broke. A memory surfaced, an old joke from his Palace days about his terrible cooking, and suddenly, the real Michael was back. The conversation started to flow effortlessly and warm. The anger in your chest slowly melted into a soft, aching nostalgia.
By the time the restaurant was closing down, neither of you wanted the night to end. The two years of missing each other was a physical weight in the air.
"Come back to the hotel," Michael said softly as you stood outside waiting for an Uber. He looked down at you, his gaze intense, completely dropping the nonchalant act. "Just to talk. Please?"
You knew you shouldn't. You knew it was a terrible, stupid, dangerous idea.
"..Okay," you whispered. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
His hotel suite was quiet, lit only by the low ambient lamps and the distant glow of the London skyline through the floor to ceiling windows.
You sat on the edge of the plush sofa, holding a glass of water, while Michael sat on the other side.
"so..why didn't you say anything after you left?" The question spilled out of you before you could even stop yourself. It was the question that had kept you up at night for two years. "You just... went to Germany. You didn't call. You didn't say goodbye. You just let it die."
Michael stared down at his hands, exhaling a long, shaky breath. "I was terrified, man."
"Terrified of what, Michael? Me?"
"Of everything," he admitted softly, turning to face you properly. "I was twenty-two. Moving to a new country, huge pressure, big money, everyone watching. I didn't know what we were. We never put a label on it, and I was too much of a coward to ask you if you'd wait for me. I thought... I thought if I didn't say anything, it wouldn't feel like it was actually over. But then months passed, and I felt like an actual idiot. I thought you hated me."
"I do hate you," you admitted, your voice cracking a bit. "I felt like I was just a temporary thing for you."
"You were never that," Michael said genuinely, reaching across the couch to lay his hand over yours. His skin was warm, familiar, and the sensation shot straight to your chest. "Never. You were the only real thing I had in London."
You looked up at him, tears stinging the backs of your eyes. He moved closer, his thumb gently stroking the back of your hand.
"I missed you," he murmured, his eyes dropping to your lips. "Every single day."
"Michael..."
Then, he leaned in and kissed you.
It wasn't fast or aggressive; it was desperate, soft, and full with two years of pent-up longing. You gasped against his mouth, pulling him closer by the neck of his top, throwing all your walls and rules right out the window.
fuck, fuck, fuck.
Ā You had told yourself you were over this. You had sworn to your friends you didn't care about him anymore.
His hands found your waist, lifting you effortlessly until you were in his lap. His touch was warm and reverent, retracing every curve he used to still knows by heart. The quiet intimacy of the room swallowed you completely. The slight rustle of clothes, the sound of heavy breathing, the familiar, intoxicating scent of his cologne. Every touch felt like coming home, even though you knew the facade was built on borrowed time.
...
The next morning, soft sunlight peaked through the curtains of his hotel bedroom.
You woke up entangled in his sheets, Michaelās heavy arm wrapped tightly around your waist, pulling you against his chest even in his sleep. For a split second, it felt like you traveled back in time.
Then reality hit. ugh.
You quietly untangled yourself, grabbed his hoodie, and walked into the living space. A few minutes later, Michael emerged, rubbing his eyes, looking softly disheveled and human in a way the media never saw.
He ordered room service, and you sat together at the small dining table, eating breakfast in a comfortable, quiet haze.
"So," you said gently, pushing a piece of toast around your plate. "What now?"
Michael looked up at you, his eyes serious. "I don't want to lose you again."
You looked at him warmly, but you shook your head softly. "Michael... lets be real"
He went silent.
"You're flying back to Munich in two days," you said, your voice steady, but your chest felt tight. "Your pre-season starts. Your life is over there now. And my life is here. I just started at the dream job I worked my ass off to get. I'm not dropping my career for a man. Even if it's you."
Michael leaned back, running a hand over his face frustrated. He knew you were being logical. Moving to Bayern Munich was his big career breakthrough; he had to be 100% locked in from now on. Asking you to abandon your dreams in London to chase him around Germany would be selfish, and pretty cockyāand starting a complex long distance relationship after two years of miscommunication and trauma was a recipe built to spoil.
"It's bad timing," Michael murmured, looking at you biting his lip trying to think of some solution. "Isn't it?"
"It's terrible timing," you agreed softly.
There was no big argument. No screaming match. Just a mature, quiet understanding between two people who loved each other, but realized their lives were moving in two completely opposite directions. The love you had before was never wastedāit was real, it was beautiful, it just belonged to a different chapter.
It was time to let go. For real.
This wasn't a bitter, resentful ghosting anymore. It was a proper, conscious decision.
As you gathered your stuff and put your shoes on by the front door, Michael walked over, pulling you into one last, deep kiss. He buried his face in your hair, breathing you in.
"Thank you for coming last night," he whispered into your skin.
You pulled back, looking up at his handsome face, placing a gentle hand on his cheek. "Cherish the couple of minutes we had"
He let out a quiet, breathless laugh, nodding. "Always."
You turned the handle, stepped out into the hallway, and walked out into theĀ oddly crisp London morning. He was heading back to Germany in less than 48 hours, and you had a life to lock back into stat.
It was time to go back to real life. But for the first time in two years, your chest didn't feel heavy anymore.
the end
