I am a toxic person.
What does being a “toxic person” look like?
My toxicity exhibited itself through backhanded compliments and attention-seeking behavior. I lashed out when a friend didn’t want to hang out with me, and I wanted to control. I was an extreme friend—I’d hate you one minute and love you the next. I only saw black and white, never gray. Although people said I was a “fun drunk,” I knew I drank excessively because it helped me feel more confident.
I need to stop looking for the wrong kind of attention.
‘’Toxic behaviors take a serious toll on relationships, and eventually, they will drive away the people that are closest to you’’ - My friends are constantly dropping out of my social circle, I keep pushing them away by saying mean things such as ‘‘you don’t understand’’ or I simply get offended by other people opinions and it might be a sign that my attitudes and behaviors are causing people to disappear.(Obviously)
When I am a toxic person, I attracted toxic people. My romantic relationships were all short-lived and fueled with daily bickering that escalated into dramatic fights. What’s more important to you—a temporary ego boost or a long-term friendship?
