If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
the mexican football team has a 17 yrs old player and one of the funniest outcomes of this is that he cannot appear in any ad for gambling or drinking so he only appears in candy and milk advertisements. his first world cup and he's not even legally allowed to drive. his nickname is "morita" (little berry). he's three apples tall.
they couldn't put him in the beer campaign so he was represented by a bunch of berries

While I mostly used my time in Iceland to work on larger pieces, I also made this little guy to test out a magenta underpainting in acrylic ink on wood panel before doing the final painting in gouache.
anyway sound off. at what stage do ppl think Han figured out the Force was real. the boring answer is after seeing Obi-wan vanish but i think he could rationalise that away as his eyes playing tricks on him. what do we think.
Let me demonstrate my answer for you:
That's it. That's my answer. Endor.
Please just take a look at Han's face right after witnessing 3po float. The man just had his entire worldview blown to smithereens.
that's so funny. that means he accepted Vader deflecting a blaster bolt with his hand as just something freaky government cyborgs can do, and stuck by Luke for multiple years as he tried to figure this Force stuff out, and just treated it like your friend getting really really into neopaganism to cope with a loss.
like yeah kid good job with the witching. i'm certain it will be more useful against your enemies than your sharpshooting. no i do not think your witchcraft is supplementing your aim but i'm not gonna argue about it.
yeah Luke was like 'I heard Ben Kenobi's voice in my head telling me how to blow up the Death Star :)' and Han was like 'kind of an unusual coping mechanism but I'm not gonna argue with him'
Don't take this too seriously lol
If you didn't play TMOSTH then you might be a little confused

I still canât get over Shadow sitting in a bar stool and having his wittle legs crossed even though they are swinging. I mean, look at this guy.
Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Lifeform everybody. Can you even believe that he went full Terminator on Tails and Cosmo in the next episode? Me neither.
Just because heâs a killing machine doesnât mean he isnât a properly mannered killing machine. Maria taught him better.
Reblog every time.
Here's the Sonic Channel wallpaper for July!
Hello, this is Hayane Tomoko! The weather has been getting hotter lately. The more lively the signs of summer become, the more I want to take a break in the quiet shade of a tree!
This month's wallpaper features Espio, the chameleon ninja who was born and lives in the shadows!
A custom-made item for those who live in the shadows!?
This time, Espio appears wearing under-rimmed glasses! The sophisticated gold color accentuates his serious and craftsman-like demeanor.
And if you look closely, you'll see the bridge is perfectly shaped to avoid the horn between the eyebrows. It's a shinobi-specific masterpiece designed to stay in place during ninjutsu training and stealth operations!
No detail has been overlooked! You can really see the attention to detail that is unique to Espio.
Another thing that catches my eye is the brush and scroll he's holding. Could he be writing down the secret techniques of a shinobi? His dignified expression and graceful brushstrokes suggest he's quite skilled and likely practices calligraphy regularly.
Is that pen actually being used to record something?!
Chameleon ninja Espio is a highly active detective at the Chaotix Detective Agency! He's impressive for his calm and collected demeanor, keeping the situation in check between the cheerful and boisterous Vector and the innocent and energetic Charmy . Without Espio, the Chaotix trio might not be able to work together...!
...Could this scroll actually be the office's ledger?
"If I subtract Vector's food expenses and Charmy's snack expenses from the reward for the job... Damn it...! The math doesn't add up this month either!"
I bet they're secretly racking their brains over this!
Personally, I can't overlook how adorable Espio is, despite his tough and stoic demeanor, constantly being led around by the two of them! Combined with the heart-shaped pattern on his belly and his curly tail, I think his coolness and cuteness coexisting together is what makes him uniquely charming.
This month's top recommendation!
Be sure to download this wallpaper and get a share of Espio's sharp focus!
On X, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the wallpaper and your predictions about the situation using the hashtag #Sonikatsu âŞ
I was pretending to be writing about the secrets of shinobi techniques... but it actually looked like I was compiling the finances for the Chaotix Detective Agency. Daily training, daily record-keeping!
Well then, see you next time!
