Go ahead, underestimate me

Didn’t turn out what I expected fffuuuuu-

Taking a deep breath, the teenager slammed his locker closed and crammed a few textbooks into his satchel bag. After clasping the top flap closed, he turned on the heels of his combat boots to go to lunch. This was the fifth new school he’d been to since the fourth grade, and frankly, he was getting tired of transferring. Those new job offers that his father was receiving didn’t sound so promising. 

Lunch was always the worst part of the first days, because there were so many different cliques and basically nowhere to sit, unless you were okay with sitting near the weird kids or the loners, neither of which PJ was planning on sitting with that day. The final thing that worried Perseus was the fact that his powers could possibly act up at any given moment. Those powers that his parents’ had forbade him to speak about. 

[ You can never, ever, ever, ever use your powers in public. Don’t even think about using them. There are others out there like you, PJ, they’ll have the birthmark just like you do. ]

The words echoed through his head as he entered the cafeteria to find that it was already crowded. He didn’t feel hungry so he decided that he’d just go and find a seat. Better safe than sorry. Towards the back of the cafeteria, he spotted an almost empty table so he made a beeline for it, breaking past crowds and dodging oncoming traffic. As soon as he stepped out into the aisle that was directly across from the vacant table, a sharp pain traveled up the back of his spine and made it’s way to his head. The pain almost caused him to collapse onto the floor in a heap but he staggered toward the empty table, slamming his satchel down on the clean surface. The lanky male blinked a few times in a desperate attempt to make it go away, but it didn’t. 

His vision began to blur, then transitioned into a black and white film, only a tiny splotch of color which was surrounding a girl. Her name was Tee, PJ had class with her during the previous period. He squinted his eyes, rubbed them, and stood up, leaving his satchel behind. As she sat down in her seat, his eyes traveled to her right wrist, where his birthmark was, and sure enough, there it was.

She’s like me.

How do I approach her? Do I even approach her at all? 

His mind was racing, stomach twisting and turning in excitement. His vision cleared up and he cleared his throat, approaching her table. Whether the seat was reserved for someone else or not, he sat there directly across from her, a small smile playing at his lips. 

  Her social life wasn't questioned, flitting between social groups. She was generally well liked wherever she went, and alternated her days between friends tables, so that she could catch up with each one. 

  She had to admit though, it was kind of lonely. Nobody truly knew her, because she simply didn't let them. There was something wrong with her, and Tee just didn't understand why. Why did she have these weird powers and nobody else did? Either way, she had suppressed them her whole life, fitting in just fine with her normal classmates. 

 Having just taken out her homemade lunch  from her book bag, the outside of the brown bag decorated with a smiling tooth, she looked up to find the new kid sitting across from her. Perseus or something like that. Either way, he was annoyingly handsome and also rumored to be rather dangerous. Perhaps that was why she had stayed away from him thus far. 

 Of course she had noticed him, Tee did have a class with him. Chemistry, if she remembered correctly. But why was he talking to her? He didn't seem like the kind of person who would be interested in talking to her, with the contrast of bright pastels that she decorated herself with and the dark that seemed to just kind of envelope him. Two very different auras that weren't meant to mix. 

 "Hi, PJ. I'm Toothiana." She smiled brightly, flashing her pearly whites in his direction. Either way, it didn't hurt to be friendly. "Everyone just calls me Tee though. Not so weird, right?" Giggling, she continued to set her lunch out in front of her.
