Cassandra let out a small breath. No, she didn’t really want to stop what she was working on and go look at this kid’s machines. But the guilt she felt over how things went at the expo kept her from giving her usual snappy answer. She called him a friend… she needed to start acting like it.

“Sure, Varian.” She put her quill down, offering a small smile as she turned to face him. “What did you make this time?” As sweet as the last one had been, she really hoped this one wasn’t named after her too. She couldn’t take that level of embarrassment.

     it took a good amount of restraint on his part to keep from jumping at cassie’s words. he could contain himself. he was mature and definitely could keep his composure at the idea of a friend coming over to see on of his inventions. 

     he would show her that he could be cool and could invent things that wouldn’t blow up. 

Varitas vc: 

     ❛ ok so last-last invention i showed you didn’t go too well. but ! this one is definitely-definitely way safer and less likely to cause a vortex. so if you wanna stop by the lab maybe i could, you know, show you ... if you want. ❜

     ❛ oh um. emperor’s coven hm ? wow, never really thought about that. i’m more of an alchemist though. don’t suppose they’d have much use for me there, you know ? ❜

     in truth he’d thought a lot about the emperor’s coven. mostly about how to dismantle it with his small group of friends. not that the golden guard needed to know that. 

“Maybe try putting on some classical first? That’s been scientifically proven to help cognition or retention or whatever, I think?”

     ❛ no. no killing people definitely is the next best option. i don’t even know why i have to study this stuff. i already know the answer, why do they want me to spend the extra five minutes on each question explaining how i got it ? ❜
