Trollhunters:
The Missing Episodes
Wizards
Do your part to keep Tales of Arcadia from becoming lost media!
Anti admits to wanting to write actual CSAM.
We know what you are....
life when I was an antishipper: "this character kind of looks 16, not 18, I shouldn't crush over them." / "I feel so guilty for feeling bad for these lolis... they didn't choose to be sexualized." / "was I groomed?" / I know multiple who liked things like black butler and okegom, can't believe theyre so gross to like proship content" / "what if I become a pedophile? what if I become a zoophile? I shouldn't enjoy these books or shows, they don't condemn it." / "what if this ship is a darkship? at this point, I don't think I should ship anything"
life as a proshipper: "haha I love doing whatever the fuck I want cuz I know fiction is not reality"
Everytime a proshipper says “fiction doesnt affect reality” its usually in the context of “just bc i indulge in this doesnt mean im this bad thing”
everyone knows that fiction can affect reality, it can affect your personality and your beliefs, but rarely does it ever make you do bad things, if youre compelled to do bad things because of fiction, youre alr mentally ill and thats not the fault of the media.
so if shipping/writing about child x adult makes me a pedo
then anyone who draws, writes about, reads, or watches Horror or Slashers is a murderer. if you like bad characters, that means you committed their crimes apparently
if you like this piece of media it MUST mean you condone every single aspect of it!!!!!
I like reitanna seishins Muffins series, does that mean im a cannibalistic serial killer? NO. Obviously not.

We gotta stop pretending that the "censorship/antishipper" movement is run by dumbass children when most of the people who actively participate on there are GROWN ASS ADULTS who say stuff like this, this person has 25+ on their bio😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hey hon, you seem really mad about something you made up inside your own head. Maybe you should stop that.
I did not make up anything inside my own head, HON. Anime has a deep seated problem with pedophilia. Wake up and smell the critical analysis of media.
"Anime is pedophilia" motherffucker it is called an art style.
[The first screenshot features Tumblr tags reading, "#very impressive but i hate the pedo air this has to it #ofc she's got huge boobs and a tiny figure and a babyish face all at once and TEEHEE she just undressed herself #and then you can see her greyed out boobs in the next shot #and the baby music eugh #im sick of the pedophilia #in anime"
The second is a screenshot of a tweet that was edited to read, "Tumblr is 90% someone imagining a guy, tricking themselves into believing that guy exists and then getting mad about it"]
oh god they're also a radfem
they're not just an anti, they're a fuckin radfem!
Imagine being an anti. Imagine admitting that your sense of morality is so poor that the only thing preventing you from being an abuser or rapist yourself is not reading fiction that portrays abusive relationships or rape. Imagine admitting that if you read fiction about that, you will go on to do those things because your ability to determine right from wrong by yourself is that nonexistent. Imagine admitting that you literally only are capable of doing what others tell you to do, through fiction or otherwise. Then imagine thinking this is some kind of win, some kind of statement about the inherent morality of people instead of about you specifically, and saying that you are mature enough to be an authority on the 'danger' of portraying immorality in fiction. THEN imagine declaring yourself fundamentally different from conservative Christians who think that kids reading about gay characters will become gay.
Admitting to being an anti is just the ultimate self-own and they will NEVER realize it.
no but how much audacity and sheer entitlement do you have to have to tell people they need to stop posting their darkfic and porn fic and any other fic you don’t like to ao3 so you can have a safe space when ao3 was literally created as a safe space for writers to post their content without fear of it being randomly wiped out by pro-censorship assholes with an agenda like what has happened to plenty of other fic archives before?
“but a lot of us see ao3 as a safe space to get away from that kind of nasty content” - lol you can see the middle of a busy interstate as a safe space all you want too but that doesn’t mean that you get to walk into the road and scream at all the cars going by that they’re the ones infringing on your safe space either
ao3 is not, has never been, and will never be a site meant for nothing but children’s stories. you can “see it” like that as much as you want but there’s a difference between fiction and reality and that view of what ao3 is like is as fictional as the stories posted on it.
Caveat your policies and principles, because there’s a mad difference between children’s stories and stories that are harmful across the board.
A lot of writers on ao3 don’t care to tag their stories appropriately, or consider the harm they perpetrate with their stories, or take responsibility for the harm they cause with their stories. It’s one thing to write whatever you want, it’s another to publish it, publicise it, and not take care enough to note if it’s harmful.
Let’s be honest, a lot of supposed “dark fic” is generally just exploitive masturbatory fantasy. It’s often written by ppl who don’t care what bigotry they perpetuate, what harmful tropes they use, any of that, as long as they get their kicks.
You can write what you want, but if you choose to post it publicly, you need to be prepared for an audience that has its own opinions. And the audience might say, “This archive needs a better policy”.
The audience might - but AO3 wasn’t created for the audience. It was created for the authors, so they’d have a place to post their fics that kept getting thrown off of other sites.
You might think those sites were correct and some kinds of content shouldn’t be allowed in public anywhere. In which case, you might want to stay away from AO3, because it was explicitly and directly created to host stuff that was unacceptable elsewhere. That’s its core purpose.
Fics that aren’t tagged according to the archive’s rules can be reported. However, there’s not much tagging that’s actually required: Just the warnings (including the option of “choose not to warn,” meaning “not telling you if any of these things are here”) and a fandom. They can leave off the rating, and it’ll be sorted as if it were explicit.
AO3 was meant to be supportive of both “authors who want to tag major and minor pairings, every notable trope in the story, and several types of relationships” - and authors who tag NOTHING but the fandom and maybe a pairing. The “what tags are required?” debate was not new when AO3 was founded, more than 13 years ago. So they opted for a bare minimum of safety tags, added the option of adding a bunch more, and said “Reader Beware: We don’t require that tagging be complete.”
Bitch, if AO3 was just for authors, it wouldn’t exist, because we all would have gotten off our own dicks years ago and realized we didn’t need public acclaim to enjoy writing.
It wasn’t created “just” for authors. But it was created for authors first, with the for-readers features being most focused on, “hey authors - how do you want your readers to find you?”
There’s a difference between wanting to share writing with a community and “needing public acclaim.”
We knew damn well when we set up AO3’s terms of service, that there would be people who decided, “I am NOT putting my writing on a site that hosts THAT AWFUL STUFF.” (At the time, we kind of assumed “That Awful Stuff” was “Voldemort victorious; Death Eater orgies abound” fics, not “Harry/Draco underage” fics, but we also knew that what’s considered “wrong” changes over time.) (Some of us remember when just saying you read slash could get you kicked out of a fandom’s locked email list.)
We weren’t really expecting demands that AO3 change its policies, because… those weren’t after-the-fact decisions? It wasn’t, “hey, let’s build an archive, and oh, I guess we’ll let the icky smut in too.” It was, “The icky smut keeps getting banned/ deleted/ forbidden/ removed because the mods got into a fight about what to allow…. what can we do about that? How about… an archive?”
Complaints that AO3 allows the stuff that AO3 was created to host will get zero results. No changes in policy; no open consideration; no public discussions.
AO3 is now one of the busiest fanfic sites on the internet, because it turns out, a LOT of people like a no-censorship approach. But if popularity wanes and only the ultra-kink-friendly people are still active… that’s fine. That’s what it’s for. Everyone else has a whole internet that will host their content.
If you do not like AO3’s no-censorship policies, you are welcome to create your own site with heavier content restrictions. I believe the code is open source, so have at it.
They don’t want the pure-and-wholesome filth-free fic repository, they want the bullying.
Do you know why child pornography is not First Amendment protected under US law?
Because it’s not art; it’s evidence of a crime. Namely, the rape of a child.
You might find fics lavishly describing underage Slytherin orgies disgusting, but the participants depicted are not actual people. It’s not child porn, it’s not illegal, and your disgust doesn’t give you the right to abuse the author or insist the site archiving the work take it down.
And as those works are not publicly marketed or promoted, you are not forced to acknowledge they exist, or deal with the negative consequences of their consumption. This isn’t 50 Shades giving thousands of people the absolute wrong idea of what dom/sub relationships should be like.
It really can't get any more simple than that but #they are obtuse on purpose
It kind of sucks that being pro-fiction has been reduced to just "person who beats it to lolicon and ships incest" because, well, besides the fact that's a weird uncomfortable thing to assume about people, being pro-fiction is about so much more than supporting the freedom to write or read that kind of thing in fiction.
It's about supporting BDSM in fiction, "cringe" queer art/fic, "cringe" stories, badly written fanfic, rare pairs, ships that are unpopular, fanfiction that ignores canon, people being able to post their stories online without being bullied, being able to be in fandom without being bullied over everything I listed above and more, not to mention basic pro-fiction beliefs (like knowing you can read something without it corrupting you) and being against anti-fiction outside of fandom too (fuck book bans).
I don't know; a lot of pro-fiction people just want fandom to be a nice place and for people to realise that you can read something bad in fiction critically, and suggesting otherwise feels kind of ignorant.

Hot fandom discourse take but framing dark content as only being acceptable if its a vehicle for exploring personal trauma is just giving ground to the puritan segments of fandom.
Simply liking dark content for its own sake is perfectly fine.
if you call yourself a freak/cringe/problematic/toxic yaoi or yuri enjoyer/horror fan and you have proship dni then you need to have tomatoes thrown at you

Agree or disagree: a lot of people seem to be more concerned about looking like an activist who's doing activism rather than about actually helping the people who need help?
Nuanced agree.
I do think that for a lot of people there's a significant concern about how they're perceived by their peers, and that it fuels a lot of misguided "activism" but this stems from fear rather than something like laziness, deliberate manipulation, ect.
It ties into what I talked about on another post where people also place misguided responsibility and demands on people they deem as "capable" or "obligated." And where some people are also just point blank dickheads about moral signalling and knighting.
If you're constantly facing harassment and pressure to be seen as doing X, pretty soon you're going to get overwhelmed and you're going to try to prevent it by doing X in an overly visible, performative manner. You're going to want to stop people coming after you by visibly waving a neon sign saying "I'VE DONE THIS THING!"
We saw it with the social media blackouts. We saw it with spamming Free Palestine and Palestine flags. We saw it with the BLM logo. We see it with Facebook profile banners.
Being Known As Not A Bad Person becomes almost tantamount to actually not being a bad person.
But then, of course, you've also got the other side of the coin where there's people are genuinely do just want the recognition and clout of being deemed as an activist and a good person over actually wanting to be an activist and good person.
(Like that female influencer who was caught pretending to pick up trash, and the man who goes around shoving a camera in homeless people's faces and forcing them to perform for his audience if they want help.)
I think if we as a society were less concerned with forcing people to prove to us that they're not bad people and that they're Actually Doing Something, a lot more would actually get done.
honestly, I’m really happy that you made that “we need to be allowed to be free from politics in fandom” post. And I’m really happy that it made some people angry.
Because you’re right. I’m a living example- I’m a person who just feels so much guilt if they don’t participate in this ritual of self-sacrifice in the way of helping others. And I feel like tumblr activism has come to a point where it’s not even about helping each other or mutual aid, it’s about guilt-tripping people and saying “well, you wouldn’t want to be Mr evil terrible guy, right? Right? So signal boost this! Or else you’re literally an evil transphobic homophobic racist Zionist fascist bigot”
we all have to be selfish sometimes. We have to. Selfishness is inherently neutral and we need it to survive. I’m a real example of what happens when a person tries to live a life without selfishness- guess what, I’m the worlds biggest doormat and I’m basically miserable because I’m too afraid to tell people that I just can’t do it anymore.
I’m a person who needs help right now. I’m a person who needs assistance right now. But I don’t think any of them really care. They just want someone to make into their strawman. The world isn’t black and white like that, though
The majority of Tumblr activism isn't about helping other people.
Its about giving people an outlet for their own emotions, and showing other people you're not a bad person. I have no doubt a lot of the people falling victim to this actually believe they're helping, and likely have good intentions, but realistically I see so many people just using "activism" to lash out at others and moral grandstand.
Weaponizing activism blatantly defeats the purpose of activism. There's no standard to the people who need help, and just because someone can't necessarily be an extreme activist doesn't void them from being the recipient of it.
I hope you get the help and respite you need and if I can help you or facilitate finding people to help you I'm happy to. I can also gather some resources for self-help and methods to reduce stress if those are beneficial.
And remember:
Fandom is not inherently political.
The point of activism is to make change, not to get notes on a post.
Those with broken legs cannot run. Don't cripple yourself trying to help others.
