Big mood

i was telling myself recently that i haven’t ‘felt like myself’ these past few weeks, but in fact i can’t even locate when i really last ‘felt like myself’ because the past few years have been so exhausting. although at the same time, the past few years have also been me trying to rebuild after trauma. i realise there a sense of linearity in the way we perceive of growth, or as if ‘feeling like myself’ or ‘happiness’ is a point we reach, an apex of a mountain we climb. but in fact, if i am honest, there have been pockets of time when i did momentarily experience my authentic self, and when i was genuinely happy. it’s not a destination we reach, it’s a state of being that is accessible to us at all times if we are safe enough to hit that inner spot. this visualisation, almost, of happiness, contentment, authenticity as a spot we reach after a long journey is so flawed. it’s probably also why when we do feel happy, we always feel like we can lose it, and then even sabotage it. capitalist logic dictates that what we desire comes after immense effort, but that it can always be taken away if we cannot maintain our finite wealth. we can always be pushed down the mountain. but our self is no mountain! we are our self! we don’t have to purchase our sense of self, we carry it in us. it’s not lost to us until we reach some dream peak. it’s already there and we can experience it at times, if we can find the space to feel safe. if we are brutally honest with ourselves, if we surround ourselves with What’s Good. and then one day, we seem to experience it more and more. that’s what it is.

Well… the rains gotta stop somewhere

Oh my god, someone has footage of it! I remember one time my dad, lil brother, and I were leaving a Ryan’s. We were waiting for a chance to hop onto the road and in the distance we just saw everything turn grey. We saw it come closer and closer and come to find out it was rain! It was just a wall of rain - the end of the rain, really. I’ve never seen it again, but it’s so cool to see footage of the edge of rain!
