BACKSTORY: The Shadow Queen had won. Because of Mario's poor decision, the world fell into darkness. All of Mario's companions met terrible fates. Goombella was served sliced up on a pizza. Koops was turned whipping boy. Madam Flurry kept her cool in the summer and was bottled the rest of the year. Yoshi was a caged pet, until he wasn't cute anymore and was put down. Bobbery was mind controlled into a weapon of war. Finally, the traitorous Vivian would be given the lightest punishment: being banished to Figurative Space. To this day, she doesn't know why she gave her only a slap on the wrist.
Centuries pass and all her toys would eventually perish. With the world covered in darkness, all life would eventually die out. Even the remaining siren sisters would eventually annoy her enough to drive the queen to disperse them. She was alone in empty world.
So she came up with a plan. She figured out that if she uses all her accumulated power in Figurative Space, she can go back in time. This was perfect! She can go and enjoy it all again!
She enacted her plan, traveling in time. However, there were two flaws:
Using up her power means she couldn't do anything else.
YOU CAN'T LEAVE FIGURATIVE SPACE!
She wished she knew this before. Trapped, she wandered for a while, trying to find Vivian so at least she could have fun toying with her. It was on that trail that she would get pulled into Horror Terror Island.
