Warning: This could possibly be an idea for reimagining
Laurance is one of my comfort characters, and he's also one of the characters I think the most about, and of course...I also think about Aphmau and him...
After a while…I think walking around at night becomes a habit.
Even if I'm no longer a guard in a traditional sense anymore, I can't help but walk around Phoenix Drop before sleeping. Nothing beats the idea of knowing the people you care for…are…safe.
My eyes caught a shadowy figure running to the docks. My hand immediately went to my sword.
The figure sat down on the dock and as I was about to strike, it turned around. Stopping me In my tracks, making me stumble into the sand.
“Laurance…were you following me?”
“What! No, I apologize, Lady-”
“Oh…right. I should know that.”
I stood up and dusted the sand off of me. Daphne silently told me to sit next to her, and of course…I did.
“When I couldn't sleep, sometimes, I would come out here, and sometimes…Garroth would sit with me.”
“Hm…seems like we share some of the same experiences.”
“Yeah, I mean, a man can't always sleep with one eye open…sometimes he doesn't sleep at all.”
“Garroth was good at sitting in silence…wasn't he?”
“He needed to get better at communicating though.”
“Understatement.” I mumbled.
Daphne and I giggled. The wind began to pick up, causing Daphne's long hair to move. I sighed and my eyes went to the water.
“I'm sorry I can't be Garroth, Aph.”
“I'm sorry I can't be Garroth either...” She started. “I guess that's the important thing though. I can only be Daphne.”
“And I can only be Laurance?”
“Yes…can you be Laurance for me?”
“As long as you're Daphne.”
We would sit in silence for a while, before we finally decided to face sleep…
