'Kid' by Youth Large is out now ⋆˙⟡
I wrote the song Kid in an internal bitter rage over a year ago. Reflecting on all the things I kept to myself in a relationship. Biting my tongue to feel safe in the moment. It's a song I kept close to my heart, I wanted it to be handled delicately as it pokes at such innocent wounds. In time I could see the theme of this song had become a pattern. Maybe I can put it out because I have newfound boundaries and understanding for my anger. Maybe I can put it out because I feel like a kid who knows the truth of situations? I'm still figuring it all out. It turned into a bit of a pop song, having fun with the hurt. I think the 7 year old in me who eats, sleeps, breathes Avril Lavigne would like it. I'm inspired by having kids be such a big part of my life. Seeing them tell me what makes them upset empowers me to do the same.
